Just a tip for anyone who uses honey. Spray whatever you're measuring your honey in with cooking spray. The honey slides right off and doesn't stick 😊.

Attn: No soup cans were used/consumed/harmed in this video 😉 I’d say get the smaller Crockpot! Justification (for those that think it’s not frugal): they’re not expensive & if you’re making LilSmokies, it’s safe to assume that’s not the entire meal. Using a smaller Crockpot saves counter space. Also, it’d be great for fondue (just my opinion).

I have three different sizes of crock pot and use them all. The small is very handy for side dishes and for like keeping warm cooked mashed potatoes at holidays. The larger ones for entrees, and big batches of chili or ham bone/bean soup. So I say yes, get a smaller size. Slow cookers are supposed to be filled 1/2 to 2/3ths full for best cooking. Plus, your smokies recipe works really well for bagged Italian meatballs!

There are more slow cooker options out there. I have a friend who has 2 different 3 in one sets. One set has one heating element, but 3 different sized crocks, small, medium and large. As a bonus, the large one can have some water added to it, then the medium or small one set on top so it keeps the top crock food just warmed for buffet service. Then they have a different set that has 3 heating elements that work independently, and crocks for each. Due to the size of the crocks being similar, I think he can interchange from one type of crock to use with either element. The nice thing with having the 3 elements is you can cook multiple meals/dishes at once, and different heating can be used depending on need High/Low/Warm. So, yes explore the options that exist because at some point we can entertain again!

Christine, I use a 2 quart crockpot for lunch often. They are usually around $10 and it's nice because it's small without being tiny. Cost to benefit ratio is good. You can use if for something small like those little hot dogs, but it can also hold enough to do a side dish for a crowd. I'm actually eating chili with rice I made in it for lunch today.

Definitely going to make that smores fondue! When my kids were younger, I got tired of trying to find something to make for Thanksgiving that someone else didn't already make. Also, I'm not really a cook. So I decided to make pigs in a blanket for the kids using the smokies. They were a hit with the kids AND adults! And now...when my kids are in their early 20s...they think "piggies" are a Thanksgiving food and would absolutely revolt if I didn't make them.

If you have a small amount of food but a large crock pot (like the lil’ smokies) you can use an aluminum bread pan or something like that in the middle of the crock pot for the food. Just make sure you put water on the outside of the tin/in the bottom of the pot so you don’t crack the crock.

But once or twice a year I have to have the pigs in a blanket and Rotel/ Velveeta dip. Not necessarily at the same time, although it does make for good game food. Once a year does me well.

My sister suggested I use the small chocolate melting pot?. Lol, I also use it for keeping a hot Ruben dip warm…. Lol, or I add to the list to shop Goodwill and garage sales? I still have two HS age children here at home, that will need/want stuff for when they go to collage etc…. Haha, my sister and I also help care for our parents, and some of the smaller appliances are perfect for them…. FYI our family ( even my sister and her sons… ) are also addicted to this Hamilton Beach English muffin sandwich maker??? I have thrifted three….. one here that we use 1-3 times a week…., one for my oldest…. He, with his friends also found a perfect way to make an egg to add on the burgers they grilled in their collage house. Recently while thrifting with my youngest, he spotted another in crazy perfect condition, and wanted it…. My sister tells me she makes up the sandwiches and keeps them in fridge or freezer and the reheat them. We often use one slice of the Aldi pre cooked bacon cut in half… Just enough oil/bacon grease to work and coat to release the egg.

Get a smaller crockpot if you need one often. If not, use what you have. Having more than one can be really handy during football season and holidays!

Lil smokies (or meatballs) with grape jelly and bbq sauce. It's a standard at open houses where I grew up!

Christine, you need to try a recipe for Drunkin Doggies. They use the little Smokey's, brown sugar, and whiskey. A great new years eve treat.

Love the wings. I think you stated the cook temp/time backwards, but they look delicious.

Use the big crockpot and make extra, then separate those from what serving so they don’t even know there is more 😊

My family can’t do bring whatever you want for food at family gatherings anymore because one year literally everyone brought little smokies! They were all different recipes, so it was a fun tasting party, but now we have to let everyone know what we’re bringing because that wasn’t even the first time that happened. One year it was different recipes of deviled eggs!
