Attn: No soup cans were used/consumed/harmed in this video 😉 I’d say get the smaller Crockpot! Justification (for those that think it’s not frugal): they’re not expensive & if you’re making LilSmokies, it’s safe to assume that’s not the entire meal. Using a smaller Crockpot saves counter space. Also, it’d be great for fondue (just my opinion).

I have three different sizes of crock pot and use them all. The small is very handy for side dishes and for like keeping warm cooked mashed potatoes at holidays. The larger ones for entrees, and big batches of chili or ham bone/bean soup. So I say yes, get a smaller size. Slow cookers are supposed to be filled 1/2 to 2/3ths full for best cooking. Plus, your smokies recipe works really well for bagged Italian meatballs!
@kikihammond53263 жыл бұрын
There are more slow cooker options out there. I have a friend who has 2 different 3 in one sets. One set has one heating element, but 3 different sized crocks, small, medium and large. As a bonus, the large one can have some water added to it, then the medium or small one set on top so it keeps the top crock food just warmed for buffet service. Then they have a different set that has 3 heating elements that work independently, and crocks for each. Due to the size of the crocks being similar, I think he can interchange from one type of crock to use with either element. The nice thing with having the 3 elements is you can cook multiple meals/dishes at once, and different heating can be used depending on need High/Low/Warm. So, yes explore the options that exist because at some point we can entertain again!

Christine, I use a 2 quart crockpot for lunch often. They are usually around $10 and it's nice because it's small without being tiny. Cost to benefit ratio is good. If you have a small amount of food but a large crock pot (like the lil’ smokies) you can use an aluminum bread pan or something like that in the middle of the crock pot for the food. Just make sure you put water on the outside of the tin/in the bottom of the pot so you don’t crack the crock.

I still have two HS age children here at home, that will need/want stuff for when they go to collage etc…. Haha, my sister and I also help care for our parents, and some of the smaller appliances are perfect for them…. FYI our family ( even my sister and her sons… ) are also addicted to this Hamilton Beach English muffin sandwich maker??? I have thrifted three….. one here that we use 1-3 times a week…., one for my oldest…. He, with his friends also found a perfect way to make an egg to add on the burgers they grilled in their collage house. Recently while thrifting with my youngest, he spotted another in crazy perfect condition, and wanted it…. My sister tells me she makes up the sandwiches and keeps them in fridge or freezer and the reheat them. We often use one slice of the Aldi pre cooked bacon cut in half… Just enough oil/bacon grease to work and coat to release the egg.
