NO PENALTIES. *for the stone possession limit:* Game manual 2 page 23 section part (b) states, "Stones and Capstones In the Foundation are exempt from the Control/Possession Limit." *for the definition of "in the foundation":* Game manual 2 page 10 section 4.4 states, " An object that is entirely within the upwards vertical extension of a defined Area’s boundary is Completely Inside the Area." This strategy has also been reviewed and passed by refs on the FTC Q&A forums. Also, our capstone is legal. It has material in each dimension. height is 3, width is 3, and length is 4

The greatest mystery of life: Why are mecanum wheels so smooth and precise in ftc but so trash in frc
@andrewz34494 жыл бұрын
@Salvador Baray Their robots are larger, but fields are MUCH larger than the robots are proportionally. That, and longer match duration make defense, speed, and pushing power important. FTC bots take up lots more field space, so agility is more important for us. That's my take on it.
@mikemorris8404 жыл бұрын
You have found not one, not two, but three gray area rules and combined them into this beast of a robot... phenominally done. I would also like to congratulate you on making linear slides that extend at least three feet tall that maintain stability. You ALSO got the clamps strong enough to support the tower from tiling forwards and crumbling. You guys clearly tought about so many aspects of this robot so carefully, I'm scared to have to face you as a west coast team.

That is incredible. We are trying to do the same concept of understacking but ours is not nearly so fast. What material do you use to grab the tower and how powerful is that gripper?
@STEELHEAD-cy7jb4 жыл бұрын
Captain Fin Our grabber consists of four goBILDA servos, two per side. We found that it is strong enough to lift 12 stones before the stack starts to tip forwards. The material we use to grip the foundation is pretty unique - garage door sealer. I don’t know how we initially discovered it, but we’ve found uses for it in every game since Velocity Vortex. It is super grippy though, and any other material we try just doesn’t compare.
@devin75514 жыл бұрын
@@STEELHEAD-cy7jb do you need to clean it often, wev been using dyceum and thats been annoying for us to do
@STEELHEAD-cy7jb4 жыл бұрын
With the amount of dust in our robotics room, the garage door sealer attracts surprisingly little. We don’t clean it very often, and when we do it doesn’t make a very significant change. The compliant wheels get dustier lol
@alexeum49944 жыл бұрын
A little secret that we discovered while making our understack was that by providing a ledge above the first block, you don’t have to squeeze the blocks very hard to maintain your hold, you only really need to grab the bottom one. And at that point all you need to do is keep your grabber straight and the stack should keep itself upright
@captainfin23524 жыл бұрын
@@alexeum4994 We have been doing the same thing, but there are some issues with getting the shelf in between the stones sometimes. Regardless we will probably continue that and maybe look into using the garage sealer for the bottom stone.

What slides are you guys using for cap? And how are you moving them?
@STEELHEAD-cy7jb4 жыл бұрын
Alex Eum It is a linear slide that uses carbon fiber rods that slide along bearings. Everything except the rods and bearings we designed and 3D printed. The slider is strung with REV 3mm surgical tubing, and we hold it down with a servo until endgame starts, at which point it can spring up 10 stones in height. We bring it down with string that is tied onto the very top of the slider. It is flimsy but fast, which allows to cap really quickly.
