And with his fadeaways & finger rolls, he was one of the few centers who would still do ridiculously well if they ever outlawed dunking. But if they did that with Shaq, the man would've been lost. Hakeem, David Robinson, & maybe Patrick Ewing could still have been really good in that situation, but not like wilt. Plus...there's a YT video of wilt shooting hook shots from three point territory while talking...he made like 3 or 4 in a row. WTF? A shot he almost never used, & he mastered it like that?

I mean, I could go back & name all the skilled bigs, from Pau Gasol to Yao to Arvydas Sabonis to Bill Russell, Robert Parish, & company...but the point is the same: WILT was top 3 all-time in terms of skilled/finesse bigs as well as being the all-time strongest player ever, & has to rank top 1 or 2 in terms of using that strength/his athletic ability (to dominate) as well.

Actually, a lot of teams showed how to stop Kobe. Just make it difficult and he'll try to shoot himself out of a hole. He had a number of poor shooting inefficient playoff series'.

Healthy I see him as the perfect "3rd star" type on a team, to compliment two other more alpha type players. Helpful to know he and K-Mart did have two years together though, although that may be one of the ones where KVH played 20-30 games only when he started getting hurt.

Yes his weight shortened his prime, but from 1993 to 2004 he was the most dominant player we have witnessed and we have never seen anything like it. His game was built off power, agility and great feet. If he played at a lower weight, he would be injured even more

Mike Bibby also had enormous success with in '02 with Sacramento's high post offense, which resembles a lot of what teams run today. And then the '04 Pistons just took this to the extreme with Chauncey Billups. Those 3-peat Lakers were lucky they didn't have to face many guards that can break down their defense. The cracks started show with Bibby in '02, Tony Parker in '03, and Billups in '04.

Had solid handles for his size and occasionally kept the ball in transition. You didn't get to see his skills as much bc Phil slowed the game way down to get rid of opponent transition points.

It’s not the same when a player dominates with shooting rather than the old school way (in the paint). Sure you get buckets but guys like Shaq will put your team in foul trouble early on, and that opens up the game for every other player on your squad

If Shaq stayed in the same shape he was in in Orlando, through out a majority of his career, oh lord, he is arguably the best center to ever play the game, me personally, I don't really count any basket ball professionally until mids going into the 90's when the skill started getting better so if we are going to call MJ the best Shaq is definitely the best center off all time, wilt , Kareem they couldn't do shit with Shaq

Shows Kenyon Martins versatility that his two toughest assignments were Kobe And Duncan: polar opposite wing and post players. I remember watching Kenyon guard Tracy Mcgrady on the perimeter. As a power forward his quickness of feet was a sight to see.

You are talking the Orlando Shaq. The Lakers Shaq was a completely different beast. Bigger, quicker and especially denser. Shaq had the ability to be bigger than everyone else but stay as agile as the smaller centers and that was on full display on 2000.
