You could start the game as a prisoner because you and a small group tried to attack the thane of some village only to be raided by assassins of the Emporer because he heard one of the prisoners could be Dragonborn (when really it was a lie by one of the prisoners because together the prisoners acquired loot and since the sentence wasn't that long everyone would have to split it) however the assassins want to use you so they interrogate everyone (boom character creation). They want to see who is Dragonborn (because they stupid) so they let you dual with a member, if you win they let you go and tell you to join their League of Dominion. Then a dragon goes overhead and they tell you to go to the nearest city to warn them and boom quest line . If you somehow end up killing them (as their should only be like two members actually there or even just one) then a prisoner will thank you and boom another Dragon so they tell you to again go to the nearest city while they go to the city that the Dragon was going to. One dies and the other will be seen in a random inn with depression Damn I just plagiarized EOS 5 lmao

The Altmer are one of my favourite races and they're so underrated. They have awesome lore and a lot of nuance to them. I think some people kind of feel sour toward them because they are so different from Men (and Dunmer) in their outlook and the main TES games are from that more Lorkhanic perspective, but when you look at the lore from the Altmeri perspective and start putting yourself in their shoes, they become much more interesting imo. Excited to listen to this and see what you all think!

@thalmoragent93443 жыл бұрын
@@Nurriek Agreed. Snow Elves are my favorite race, I feel they were done very dirty. Not even confirmed they knew about the Eye of Magnus, the fanbase just assumed they knew it was there, even though at the end of the day, it was never moved. Atmorans may have done something terrible prior to the Night of Tears, but Ysgramor obviously wouldn't tell us, History is written by the victors, so we have to take a humans word over the race of now gone Mer. (Poor Gelebor, last confirmed Mer of his Race) I get they're not all innocent, but It's just that the Elves always pay the larger price in every instance as a race. I feel the Lore always makes the Elves seek to not only always be aggressors, but also somehow not able to keep a handle on things in these situations. Yokudans kill everything they see when they get to Hammerfell, no one cares. Nords kill Snow Elves for generations into Extinction despite not the entire province was in on the Night of Tears. Tiber Septum grabs the Numidium and annihilates the Summerset Isles despite at that time the Altmer were remaining out of the way of Tamriel on their islands... and yet the Thalmor are the A-holes for hating how they were forced to recognize him as a new Divine afterwards? Yeah the Thalmor are jerks even to other Altmer who don't agree with them, but still, many Altmer would rightfully hate Talos, I don't blame them Lore always places Mer in a negative light regardless of their culture, some even doing stuff that doesn't match up. Snow Elves being the least high and mighty of the Elves and chilling only to kill off a whole city for the Eye of Magnus, an artifact they did nothing to after the Sacking, seemingly just... leaving the place? (Only thing I could argue is there isn't much to go off of the Snow Elf/Atmoran situation, and the few that was recorded is all written by the Victor's, humans, so who's to say Nords weren't bullying their way into Skyrim with high tension that lead the Snow Elves to fear what they'd do with the Eye of Magnus?) The Elves seem always set up to fail, almost as if a bias against them is something many Harbor. Maybe making the Elves they way the devs did meant they'd always need to be on the loosing side otherwise they'd naturally win and make strong Empires. So its always "poor humans" even though when they commit atrocities no one bats an eye, and when they make Empires, suddenly it's justified and good. Why can't the Dwemer have made an Underground Empire and just chilled? Wouldn't that have been enough? Not make them go power crazy against the other races and use it as an excuse to kill them off?

With art being the second most important thing next to education to the Altmer you can see how this relates to them being obsessed with being descendants of the Aedra, they value at the inherent level, creation, despite not wanting to be mortal of body and being. and they go to the greatest lengths to demonstrate how capable they are of creating wonders and beautious things, and yet feel that it isn't near enough to the level of flawlessnes they would wish it to have. their greatest weakness is they can never be truly fullfilled with anything for long. their greatest strength from it however is that they will keep reaching for greater heights past anything the other mortal races would achieve, if they can manage to put their work before their ego.

I actually thought the High Elven architecture in Summerset for ESO made sense considering their armor, motifs, and stuff...I mean sure there's like one or two references to insect like, crystalline this and that, but for the most part, I think it makes sense...I actually think if you look just a bit more into the architecture, it's not just Disney or Shrek or whatever, it's actually a bit more interesting than that even...you'll see big columns dotted around Aldmeri ruins on Summerset and in Alinor or Shimerene themselves you'll see the kind of slight mishmash of aesthetics where you have these high columns mixed with the very tall ornately windowed towers...I think that was the real goal of the art team was to show how Altmer architecture is sorta like that Japanese idea where a cracked pot isn't papered over to hide the gash but instead it's cherished. And of course, because they are sorta the oldest culture with written history that we know of I think and have these architectural traditions...they were trying to convey the mixture of old and new meshing together into this contradiction of being incredibly well made, incredible powerful, and incredibly dignified architecture yet also very old and at places, crumbling altogether. Maybe they could have had more of the insectoid, crystalline stuff, but I think if you look at the windows that line the towers and structures in Alinor, for example, they actually do look like little bug wings melted together into a window, it's small, but relevant I think that maybe shows the devs tried to tie in all the lore they could while emphasizing other elements of Altmer culture

I like that people who want to play a more different or alien type of elf can make a dunmer or bosmer. Some may call the altmer generic but a lot of people really love the more "traditional" elves and I like that there is something for everyone in the game.

Maybe a game set there could begin with a shipwreck/sea elf attack leading to you and the ship's crew being stranded in the Somerset isles. Maybe one of the noble houses rescues you, but demands repayment through work, or maybe seeks to use your character as a pawn. This would at least give a reason for members of other races to be there.

In ESO they recently gave extra vulnerability to light armor users. Listening to the history of magicka vulnerability, it makes more sense now!

I don't mind the way they created Summerset in ESO. It's actually quite brilliant. Oftentimes, in real life, records of a bygone era or of foreign lands were written to seem mythical or alien, so it makes sense that outsiders who came to the Isles for the first time, were shocked by the massive spires, stained glass windows and white marbled buildings, towering over any creature and would recount their impressions more than the factual reality, using a very poetic language. Conceptually, gothic architecture was a way to "elevate man towards God", and was a massive step up from the dark, traditional and unadorned Romanic style of the early Middle Ages. Gothic by comparison was richly decorated, as tall and spacious as they could make it, had that religious significance of reaching towards God and was full of light.

I love what Scott said, " you have to look at it as for all individuals". with the stormclocks it's all about how "Skyrim belongs to the nords" and to the nords alone, with the Thalmor it's all "high elves are superior", but with the imperials they actually stand for equality and not just for all humans but all races and (if wasn't for the white gold concordant) religious freedom!!! so keep all of this in mind when chose if you are stormclock or imperial! LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR!!!

I get certain vibes off each of these 3 voices, and could see them playing certain roles: Scott as a teacher, a lecturer, maybe professor. Drew's voice has a calming effect, and makes me think of guided meditation videos and, coincidently, these videos also attract a certain spiritual niche crowd, so Drew would fit in as a philosopher. Michael has a young-looking face with a voice to fit and to me seems reminiscent of a student, not to discredit anyone in any particular way as a teacher is useless without the student. just my thoughts, have a good night :)

Great discussion guys, I admit I was really looking forward to seeing ESO's Summerset Expansion do Alinor better justice too. Though I'm still glad we at least got to visit there in some capacity. I agree Hammerfell could be especially cool for TES6 in continuing the Thalmor plot and maybe seeing something similar to the Skyrim civil war there too between the Thalmor and the Redguards. It would be pretty interesting to see Bethesda better flesh out the Thalmor and The Dominion instead of just trying to hammer at players that they're not your friend, like in Skyrim.

@@lolhelios The Beautifuls were specifically the pro-Empire, cosmopolitan faction of (mostly younger) Altmer, who were diametrically opposed to the Thalmor's ideals. When you said that the High Elves on the hierarchy scale value art and education above all, it reminds me of the great society political thought. In this thought they value art and environments that create a class and population of artisans and “intelligent” people to all contribute to a cosmic knowledge, but requires there to be a state of control and re-education of the masses in order for it to take place, kinda like the Altmer with their vision of superiority. Except, Great Society focuses on Global citizens and despise those who care for their country. So I guess they are kinda similar
