Is that the 10-24mm mk 1 or the newer 10-24mm WR ?

the newer WR version with the numbered aperture collar

I took my X-T5 & 10-24 to the Victoria & Albert museum, very low ISO, plus some London street shots. Both JPEG & Raw……….I was very happy with both performances, they paired very well. I enjoyed watching your video.

Great video! My copy is sharp from wide open, edge to edge, from 10mm to 18mm on the X-T5. Beyond 18mm, it's a bit soft in the corners at any setting. It's still good enough, and I will just use my 18-55mm in that range if needed, where it's usually at its best. That, too, isn't the absolute sharpest, but it certainly still does great on the new sensor. I got it quite cheap for about $393. I also got their 8mm f/3.5, which is a lovely small and light lens. It's perhaps a little close to 10mm, so I hope that someone releases an even wider lens (6/7mm). Often, I used the Laowa 9mm f/5.6 on full-frame, which I occasionally miss, but I can live with 8-10mm for the most part except some specific architecture. The 8-16mm f/2.8 could replace them both, but I don't want to lug that one around. I'm not so sure about the Laowa 8-16mm, though I'm a bit burnt out with manual focus lenses, especially manual zooms.

thanks - glad you enjoyed the video. I was looking at getting the 8mm, but chose the 30mm macro instead. I'm doing less and less landscape stuff these days so the 10-24 will remain as my goto for that whenever I get the energy and the chance to get out somewhere nice 🙂

@svenyss that's a possibility. I don't see many reviews complaining about sharpness

The 16-80mm zoom is not on Fujifilm’s list, but that has not stopped them from selling it as a kit lens with the X-T5.

Hello. I have been using Fujifilm for quite some time now and as a professional, I rely on quality output. However, when I first got the Fujifilm which was over 5 years ago, with the X-trans sensor using LR, I noticed how watercolour splotchy the output was. I was ready to drop Fujifilm, as I still had and still do my 4x Nikon D810's. It was an utter disappointment until I was advised to try Capture One. Well, to say it was a revelation was an understatement. It was as if I had a totally new camera and sensor. It was as if a veil was lifted. As a result, I only use Capture One and will never even consider LR. It is that flagrant. I only shoot RAW.

thanks for the comment 🙂 yes I use C1 too. I used to use it a lot before I had my Fuji medium format cameras, and now that I'm back with X-trand I need ot get back into it

@@duringthemeanwhilst I read some posts from the Fuji forum on DPreview which said that the "old" fuji lenses would be at least as good on the X-T5 as they are on older fuji models. It's only the newer lenses that would have an advantage when when being used with the X-T5. Nevertheless, as you say, I would never have any doubts of using my current fuji lenses with an eventual X-T5. Oh, and by the way, if you haven't seen the portrait portfolio of Benjamin Kanarek, go there right now :). He is incredible talented.

I don’t see what the “problem is” Nicholas, it’s a nice hat. I really sympathize with Dexter, I don’t like to take showers either, but I do every couple of weeks against my better judgment and only because she insists. I’m not going to second guess Fuji’s executive “geniuses” as to why they decided to make a list of the optimized lenses, I believe that it only created doubt and confusion, unless it was something that they had to do for legal reasons. As far as reviews on the new camera(s), it’s out of control and confusing many people, not only they're all over the place, but I’ve seen you-tubers that don’t even have the camera(s) making negative videos using excerpts from other you-tuber’s negative videos. But enough about you, let’s talk about me for a moment, beautiful image of the path @11:20 (I have to practice those shots) and needless to say, my favorite is Dexter the explorer @11:35. Be well and stay safe.

it's a shit-show alright!! the hard part is sifting through the reviews on KZbin to find ones from trusted, impartial sources. Gordon Laing I find really good along with Maarten Heilbronn. Both are extremely thorough and completely impartial.

I saw nothing at all unsettling about those XT-5 images Nick. Ignoring certain reviews is often a confidence booster. Great music too, as is always the case here! * PEACE * LOVE * MUSIC * PHOTOGRAPHY * (I’ll be driving south to my home state Friday to visit my oldest son and daughter, and hopefully a vlog will be made.)

Yes, my 10-24mm WR is fine on the XT5/XH2. Ironically my 35mm F2 WR is not so good, I seem to have gotten a duff copy which I am sending back to Fuji for repair. All my other lenses are great. And all the reviews I have seen where people say the XT5/XH2 are not an improvement, the reviewers really are clueless at what they are looking at. One guy even said he has no idea why the XT5/XH2 images are larger at 100% view... 🙂

I think that latter point just about sums up the state of some (not all) KZbin reviewers. I honestly think it became the camera to hate because it launched a higher res sensor than Sony - which can do no wrong of course ;-) thanks for taking the time to comment and I hope you enjoyed the video?

Lol.. casper hated the bath. I watched Ian Worth's review of the XT5. Always interested to see how any new gear stacks up against previous versions etc. I would say if you are happy with the results I guess that is the main thing. My nuts & balls are out and the tits love them. - treecreeper is something I havenver had in the garden. Love the shiots of the red leaves on the canal Nick. & the Daxter selfie atb Al

I get the feeling that possibly Fuji released that list in an effort to try and pre-empt negative reviews. If that was the case, it seems to have backfired as there are numerous YT channels that almost rely on clickbait subjects to grab attention and views. There is nothing more "clickbateable" than a manufacturer warning users away from certain lens/body combinations. That will bring out an instant flurry of nit-picking reviews. There's nowt wrong wi 'em shots lad!
@duringthemeanwhilst2 жыл бұрын
I can't fathom out their reasoning for doing it. If they weren't confident in their camera then it clearly wasn't ready for release. I take a more cynical, marketing approach along the lines of getting people to ditch their 10-24s and get the hyper expensive 8-16 instead. maybe...

I think what Fuji owners are missing is that the resolution in a full frame versus an APC is quite a bit different! I’m really not concerned so much about resolution, as I am about autofocus! I’ll be waiting for an update to the XT5 to see if they can improve upon it!
@duringthemeanwhilst2 жыл бұрын
now I don't care about auto-focus!! anyway, I've been lucky enough to shoot a GFX100 for a year or so, and the pixel density on the X-T5 is around the same as on that camera.
