i have s5iix and it's actually amazing , image quality and stabilisation is amazing . and able to record on ssd is amazing , ssd's are very cheap and amazing speed. coming from canon , i can say this was the best decision i have made. the only think i'm hoping to change in future is to give us 4k 120p and improved tracking autofocus.

about APS-C Crop is not Digital Crop, as quoted on the official Panasonic site, it seems you won't miss any details.Because to get 4k you only need a 12mp sensor. So a 1.5x crop will not reduce the quality.

The biggest thing Sony has going for it in my opinion is the very wide lens selection and the very advanced Auto Focus. The Lumix S5II is better in pretty much every other regard and even in those two things I mentioned the S5II isn't that far behind. Hope that helps.

I just sold my FX30 for the S5ii with MPB. I can't wait to start shooting with it. Personally, I think rolling shutter is overrated. I only see it when people whip the camera around like they drank too much coffee. If you know how to film, you can easily avoid rolling shutter issues.

I have a S1 with a Black Video Assist, but I believe the Canon R8 looks more pleasing to my eye minus the IBIS and 4k60 crop. The R8 doesn’t crop in 4k60 but it also only have a micro HDMI.

The EF lenses? I thing the Tamron would be better as it's full frame and has image stabilisation. The Sigma looks better but it's an aps-c lens which means you can only use it in aps-c mode for video and for stills it's not the best idea as you can see the image citcle of the lens due to it being a cropped lens

Coming from Canon R6 R6ii and Sony A7iv I agree with everything you said. Lumix S5ii is so so good. This is Panasonic's version of Sony A7iii game changer camera.

It's lovely but keep in mind I only use it for video. The S5II doesn't have a crop mode for photos so it always shows the image circle of the lens in photos but for video it is superb.

There actually is a way to use the apsc crop in photo mode. You gotta use the extended tele conversion.

I never had a problem with it. Might be because I use a mist filter on everything though.

Great video. Just know that if you’re shooting anything in 48FPS or higher in HD to maintain the full frame look and avoid the APSC crop in 4K… you will lose phase detect autofocus in these modes which could be a bigger drawback depending on your use case. For me, it’s not a really big deal.

I've never heard of anything like that. I'd send it in to Lumix for them to fix it right away or if you can still return it then switch it out for another one.

Fantastic video, sir. I watched your R7 video. I am a long-time Canon user, and I planned to get an R7 with an 18-35 Sigma. But the s5ii makes me think twice. However, I am concerned with its autofocus and control app, as I rely entirely on it while filming. I also use a teleprompter and wear hats in every video. I am very used to touching my face with the bracket on the app on my iPhone, and I am not sure the s5ii will be as smooth as Canon in that department. I wonder what you think as a person who prefers the R7 over Sony's FX30. Awesome content. You have a new sub.

Thanks! Both the R8 and R7 have very good AF. Regarding the S5 II a teleprompter is no issue and I wear hats as well and haven't had any problems with the AF. That being said if you talk with your hands a lot it will shift focus to your hands if they are in front of your face. It is very brief and goes right back to your face when your hands are out of the way but it is noticeable. Overall the AF is very good but just a slight step behind Canon and Sony AF.

Hello been really stress about what camera to buy I currently own a Sony zv-1 but want to upgrade to either a Sony e10 or canon m50 mark 2. I do a lot of vlogging with a tripod and I want to take great photos as well for my social. Hate the jump videos I get with my Sony zv1 need better stabilization without using a big gimbal? Can you suggest anything please😢

The zve10 would be good since you are already familiar with Sony. It crops in alot when Active Stabilization is on though. Check out the Can R50. It might also be a good option.

I haven't seen any less or more moire than my Canon cameras. It usually pops up in certain textures and fabrics but that's been the case with every camera I have owned moire or less (pun intended : )

@@sergiypervun I would imagine they would. I haven't shot with super beefy codecs like that too much. What I have noticed though is that blacks and colors in general look a little bit thicker if that makes sense. It's mostly unnoticeable for most people though.

Which lens I can fit that can give me a image stabilisation, as I bought one, but the lens is very average!!! Very shaky!! I have told the lens need to be O.I.S to be able to give a image stabilisation. As I own a GH5 for now, and it does give me an amazing image stabilisation, because the lens I use for it have OIS.

Lumix lenses don't usually come with OIS because the IBIS is so good. I haven't used any l-mount lenses with IS so I wouldn't know.

Rolling shutter is a type of image distortion that occurs when the motion of a subject is moving too fast for the camera’s sensor to capture properly. The effect can also occur if the subject is static but the camera is in rapid motion. This is not the same as motion blur, though the two are likely to occur simultaneously. Rolling shutter is a more extreme distortion of the image caused by the shutter of certain cameras that can make subjects appear to change shape while in motion.
