@klouvry my point may not have been clear. The mom was concerned that he was depressed after telling others that he heard noises, saw ghosts, and gave him meds. A gun was purchased for the same son that she was concerned about. She'd just left the school for the kid she called weird but her instincts told her to tell her son (who she assumed was the shooter) not to do it. Up until that point, she wasn't concerned enough not to have a gun available to him. The father wasn't concerned enough not to make a straw purchase. If your first instinct is to check to see if your kid is the shooter, MAYBE you shouldn't have bought him the gun. Maybe you bear some responsibility.

A lot of people do, and this doesn’t remotely touch legal grounds to remove a child, especially a 15 yr old. A 15 yr old, sadly, can fend for themselves in a situation like this. The younger the age of child, and if there is fecal matter, mold, rodents- maybe a child would be legally removed. I say this as a former CPS worker. State statutes define when a child can be removed, and one needs to really piece apart the legal definitions and what they dictate as abuse/neglect.

I am GenX. Something has changed in our society and access to guns is NOT what has changed. I grew up in a town that had this same "gun culture". I got my first gun for Christmas when I was 9. I stored the gun and the ammo in my bedroom. By the time I was in HS I had multiple guns, including the loaded handgun I kept in my car that I drove to school everyday. Many of my classmates did the same. We were taught gun safety from an early age. We didn't have school councilors. I didn't have a good home life. I was THE kid everyone picked on growing up. It never entered my mind that shooting up the school was even an option. It never entered the mind of any of my friends who had full access to guns and ammo. Point is, something has changed in our society and access to guns is not it.

If this is the way this lady talks to other people in dire situations like this....I'm wondering. She seems pissed (sorry) about everything. No worry, no tears, no feeling. I'm not a quick crier, but she's at this stage thinking of herself. At school she had no emotion, just anger for the inconvenience for she had to leave work. If it was my child I would've rushed to his side, showed some love. Showing love isn't wrong, just parenting no1. Anger will have to wait. Her phone should've been off. But calls come in and she's telling everybody she doesn't know what happened. What about the gun lady? If my children's father bought my 15yr old son a gun, I would've taken it to the nearest police station Hindsight always comes, but a parent should be wide awake...especially if you have a lingering worry about your child. But she's still worrying about the horses. I know one should not judge, no one is perfect, but emotions are free and love for your child also, but bad attitude could cost you more than you could ever afford.

I’ve diligently and purposely approached watching this trial without the “hindsight is 20/20” perspective. Hearing the testimony from the counselor, especially the phrase of “what I knew at that point in time.” Is really important to keep in mind. I cannot begin to imagine the trauma and guilt this man has had to live with on an hourly basis. Not to mention social media and media outlets, have grilled him either individually or grouped him in with the school.The counselor did absolutely outstanding on the stand. He answered questions from both sides, very calmly and articulated his answers so well. I believe the progress this man has made with his own trauma and role in this tragedy, is absolutely remarkable. And then to basically testify to the world, in a nationally televised court trial; what he did and explain the why?! My God. Many cannot grasp this concept; but I can. It may have been one a very therapeutic experience; or it could’ve been an intense triggering situation that threw all that progress away. Please be cognizant of this. I haven’t heard all testimony, but majority of it; regardless of who should’ve asked, was any of the Crumbleys asked about safety back at house? Knives? I feel if that one question, that one thought, could’ve changed course. However, even if it was asked, you have parents who clearly minimize the true state of their son.

A lot of people out there need to realize that guns are not toys. Everyone shouldn't own one just because they have a right. Something needs to change. Some people are too stupid...too ignorant and could careless about society or even their own kids....why should she care about anyone else's kid? What kind of hobby involves a 9mm?

America is too big for America to be described collectively. Some people in America have lost their way. Not everyone. So there's that false premise. My son mastered long rifle target shooting at a pretty high level when he was fourteen and calculus when he was 16. So there's that. Seems to me if individuals took responsibility for their child's education instead of complaining about how bad things are. Things would get better....There's that.....@@DiddlyD-xx2ih

Who really knows if he was actually hallucinating ? He could’ve been saying that for strictly for attention nobody really knows I think he was saying that for attention and only attention from his family and that’s why he’d only say it while they was gone and when he wasn’t getting their attentions that’s why us that grow up with siblings don’t do all this even without our parents attention he was a only child seeking for attention for his parents that’s why he wanted them to ask questions in the interagation room and the dad wouldn’t allow the mom to even speak together son
@Sochi314
@Sochi314 7 ай бұрын
While it may be true that he was asking for attention, why ignore the claims? He wasn't an only child as his father had a child previous to his mom I think it was before. But she confided in others that she thought he was depressed, told others he was hearing voices/noises. They prescribed their own dosage of medication for him. Even still, if you thought your child craved attention, the first thing that comes to your mind wouldn't be a gun.

Right. If these parents are convicted then us citizens need to demand that parents of gang members, those little sheht bahgs stealing cars, and wiping out retail stores need to also be charged. They don't even charge parents for truancy anymore. This is so obviously about gun debate. I'm bewildered.

as much as i think this woman is an awful parent.. i could not convict her of manslaughter... she didn't kill anyone, or tell anyone to kill anyone.. she did give her underage son a gun - she did ignore the 'signs' - she did ignore her son - he did have access to the guns... all that, she's guilty of. but manslaughter? it's common to teach your underage child how to handle a gun, especially if there is one in the house.
