out of all those tools you list no multimeter?

I would like to add a priceless tip that I learned from experience. Sometimes there will be calcium buildup or corrosion that will block the nipple at the inducer motor housing where the pressure switch tube connects. I've pulled my hair out before on units where the pressure switch tested perfect and there were no blockages in the vent only to later discover a blockage in that location. Now I always pull the tube from the inducer housing to check for a blockage prior to bothering with pressure switch testing
@acservicetechchannel8 жыл бұрын
I am absolutely with you on that. The aluminum inducer motor housings will create a blockage at that port and you have to pierce through the blockage. The issue is that when checking with the manometer, It will give you pressure and other times not because the hole just started closing off completely. Thanks for the insight!

This is a great tool to check pressure switches. I see a lot of techs blowing into the tubes of pressure switches which ruins them because they cant take high pressure. Also i always check the bleed port on the pressure switch,if plugged it wont work properly. Thanks for posting this.
@acservicetechchannel8 жыл бұрын
Yes bleed ports are very important, thanks for adding that!

Thank you for posting such a great video. This tip can help you out. When testing pressure switches press the HOLD button, and the pressure value indicated on the display when the red light comes on (closing) or goes out (opening) will be frozen giving the exact value. Thank you again.

You could use it to check Static Pressure as well. It tells you very quick if a duct system was built properly. or if a zone is shoot close!....

Just one addition to this video. Pressing the hold button while increasing/decreasing the pressure it will show you at what point the pressure switch makes or brakes. It also tell you if the diaphragm is rupture.

I did some research since tech support told me pressure switches open according to the rating on the tag... not close. I am currently dealing with a furnace issue. The inducer pulls 1.7" WC, but has a rating of 1.4"WC. It doesnt get continuity across the switch. Tech Support mentioned "the 1.4 inches WC rating is when the pressure switch opens. It takes about 1.75 inches WC to close". I always thought they close according to the tag rating. You mentioned the same thing in your video that they should close once they reach that pressure. Which one is right?

Just curios what brand furnace that is? Its not everyday I come across a variable inducer motor
@acservicetechchannel8 жыл бұрын
Well I figured to show you the tool and process that I would use a harder furnace for intermittent problems in order to take one type of component out of play for the diagnosis of a problem. I believe this was a Bryant model 987MA042060V17 off the top of my head. Thanks

Do you recommend fieldpiece or UEI instruments?
@acservicetechchannel8 жыл бұрын
Uei for multimeter, and this fieldpiece manometer and pressure switch tester. I have used uei for gauge and digital manometers too so I have great faith in them. This fieldpiece manometer however really fits the need with it's internal pump and works well. The links for these tools are in the descriptions. This manometer link is in the description of this video and the uei multimeter is in the description of every video.

The SDMN6 has an accuracy of +/- of 0.02inWC in 0.00-2.00inWC range. Can't this make things very inaccurate when testing low static pressure?
