I saw Dima interview this guy. Which is probably the video you saw. I thought this might turn out this way for him. Thanks for the follow up. The money AFU gets for taking prisoners is to give them extra incentive. Even if the Ukrainian people aren't prone to kill or torture, they have been given a lot of reasons the last 8 months to do that. It just helps instill that this is the proper way to handle POW's. War atrocities happen in all wars sadly.

The security guard at the University I attended around 1980, who is named John. He was a retired butcher at the local supermarket. As a young man, he volunteered for the army, and as soon as the army found out that he spoke French and German, they gave him an officers commission and he was one of the first soldiers dropped into the Normandy Invasion by parachute. He did have one observation about the war that the Germans and British never took prisoners. Only the Americans did.

I watch a lot of "Dodo" videos (rescued animal Channel), and this story reminds me of what abandoned animals personalities appear to be immediately after rescue. Then, after the animal stops shaking and trembling, it gets to sleep better and eat food normally after a week or so. Then after a month or two, the animal has a glossy coat, clear eyes and receives Veterinary care, it walks normally and interacts with other dogs or cats in a playful way. Ukrainian Government and people seem like the World's Resuers, not only saving Europe from the worst aspects of Putins Paranoia, but many of his misguided soldiers too. Time for Europe to get more serious and *provide Ukrainians with proper weapons* to repel the invaders _and thus save Europe from further Russian expansion._

This is so much better than them torturing each other to death like so often happens with POWs. Yes, in WWII * millions * of captured soldiers from each side of the conflict between Russia & Germany were indefensibly murdered in helpless captivity rather than killed as men fighting in combat. War crimes on a massive scale. We don’t talk about this enough because people just assume soldiers (or regular men) are supposed to die, while we have the vague idea that other innocent people (not conscripted men) being systematically killed are more of an injustice.

well I am not a fan to give Ukrainian citizenship for everyone who just "not bad"... I don't like the fact that we are giving citizenship to Russian anti-Putin activists, while we have so many people who are living in Ukraine most of their life and do a way more things for Ukraine, and still not able to get citizenship. Anti-Putin doesn't mean pro-Ukrainian. So many Russians understood that Putin will fall and choose the strategy to talk how they support Ukraine to be a part of "good boys". Many of them 5 years back was stating same bad things about Ukrainians as all other Russians.

If you could see the Russian army and the way they are organized from the perspective of a NATO army, you'd understand why they are so poor and are getting their teeth kicked in by a country who hasn't even had a decade of NATOizing their structure. You;d understand why NATO armies tend to walk through the rest of the world with way smaller numbers. One British front line infantry sergeant is worth 200 Russian equivalents
