That section around 24-25 mins is utterly beautiful. Reminded me a little of the possibilities with something like NI Reaktor but in hardware. Damn impressive!

What an insane module. So much potential and complexity. Don't know how you didn't get overwhelmed coming up with an overview but you certainly pulled it off.

This has gotta be the most exciting new VCO concept I've seen in a long time! Refreshing in the midst of all the 259-inpired oscs! woulda liked too see more of shapes available with the sync on, like could you get a clean-ish sine and what would PWM be like with that turned on? but yeah u covered a lot of ground v interesting :D
@futuresoundsystems4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes - you can get clean(ish) sines, triangles and saws from setting the oscillators in unison with Sync Lock on. We tried setting the PWM Skew as -precisely- / mathematically as possible, and it actually wasn't as sonically interesting as having it set very extreme - we've opted for the latter ;)

Digging the new layout and design of this video with in-depth written descriptions with some of the patch examples Makes for great pacing with content that varies over time. The markers and diagrams are also simple and excellent ways to direct the eye and keep people further engaged. Will you be implementing these design techniques more frequently in future videos? As someone just starting out doing module videos and content, I'll be keeping these things in mind. Awesome sounds and very fresh way to approach VCOs and sound sculpting at the source. Cheers!

Hi Nick, I think so too. Unique way to make your own wave forms, highly modulate-able, shape-able sounds great, tracks well. Totally deserves more attention.

Very comprehensive walkthrough, nice!! Is it possible to build the functionality of this module using a set of simpler modules? I have started using a set of VCO:s,VCAs and a mixer but I can't get my head around how one could implement the knob that switches from completely "off" to "droning".
@DivKid2 жыл бұрын
do you mean the VCA bias knob? Which is the manual level of the VCA? You could replicate this with another module but it would be a hell of a lot of modules.

Can you explain what the VCA BIas and mix controls do? Wasn't really clear from the video. Also, I understand that each waveform is 0 to 5 (or -5 to 0), but all three are turned to 5 oclock, how is it not 0-15v?

You are calling them sine waves, but they look like parabolas to me :)
@Syncopator4 жыл бұрын
Looks more like a rectified sine...
@pat2rome4 жыл бұрын
Definitely rectified sine waves. There's no simple palabora that neatly approximates a sine wave for half of a cycle (there is one, of course, but the formula for it is pretty ew. Not mathematically pretty).
@robertsyrett19924 жыл бұрын
@@pat2rome Still, a rectified sine wave is a little different than sine. You get lots of overtones, more than a triangle even.
