EXCELLENT little episode! The dynamic of you and Luz really brought out the energetic and affirmative tone of Paglia. This was a genuinely joyous 2 hours

there's something here that doesn't add up at all, so the men apolonian and the women cathonic, yeah yeah, but what's up with the main male member is a thing that creates life? a thing useless on it's own only the joining of men and woman can create life, and not just that, that union is the whole point of the sexual organs, and therefore the end of both men and woman. is that union apolonian or cathonic? there's no place in this picture that paglia paints for that unity, and nowhere in her conception is the apolonian and cathonic oriented to join each other, so this seems quite incomplete to me.

there's another thing with this that doesn't add up, so women can just be but man have to always go the next thing, it's true in a way but men could just spend their whole life just repeating the same war over and over, in more ancient times where war wasn't total but ritualized and losing didn't mean to be destroyed you could have a war with the same people every spring no problem, for example look at the flower wars in mexico, so in that scenario men feel quite at home. And here's something that she never mentioned, Old Age, there're many ways in which everything she described only applies to one part of a person's life and women get hit the hardest, it's very difficult to be a total self sufficient narcissist when you're a 35 years old lady, men who are running and jumping all the time get old and can't do war anymore but they can keep going for longer. There's a way that reality is not at all straight forward and undermines and denies everything that she wrote here, so what does that tell us of God and what he thinks of this Apollonian and cathonic stance.

"As a recovering lib..." I knew there had to be something wrong with you if you found this woman truly fascinating, there it is! Did bro really say ancient societies didn't understand semen as being necessary for impregnation? I guess you could think that if you ignored the fact that semen is routinely referred to as "seed" in the Bible and virtually every pagan practice views the expelling of semen as the expelling of life force-- the man expels the vital substance into the female (which is considered void) and life is formed. Man oh man.

those pagan traditions came much later than the time when they're referring to, remember that there have been humans running around the world for more than a hundred thousand years. early cavemen.

@acuerdox Yes, those traditions certainly were not inherited from the wisdom of people who came before them.
