Where did you get that hot air blowing tip
@javanpohl30369 жыл бұрын
I went with a hot swap instead, wait I guess I actually did a cold swap, which is fine because it has guidance pins to lead it back into place. 1200 watt heat gun about 3-4" from the part on high. Only took maybe 10-15 seconds before the solder melted. Take part off. Turn heat off. Put more solder in places where it's looking bare. Grab new part and place in old spot, line it up as best as possible (it doesn't really sink in until it gets hot again). Turn heat back on, and tap lightly until it's heated, once the solder is soft again, gently tap it back down into place. Boom. Note of caution: I initially tried with a lower power heat gun like he used in the video, however, the plastic that holds in the pins in place on the port itself kept melting and the part was unuseable. Luckily I had plenty of spares.

Try the method using a soldering stencil. This procedure "dumbs down" the replacement and makes it twice as fast . Search Samsung Galaxy III Charging Port Repair Part 3 . Our professional instructor guides you through the process. BTW the shielding material is "Kapton(TM)" tape.

Nice, thanks for posting. How much do you charge to replace a charging port and speaker on a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 motherboard. I have replacement parts already.
@jjenson20068 жыл бұрын
Here is how I do them: 1) I don't use a heat shield; it's totally unnecessary. 2) I put the board on a PCB pre-heater and heat it to around 150C. 3) Using the hot air rework station, I heat up the part until it effortlessly lifts off the board. 4) I clean up the board area and apply flux liberally. 5) I place the new part onto the board and heat it with hot air. 6) I put light pressure on the part using a toothpick while I continue to heat. 7) As the residual solder heats up and melts, the part eventually drops into the small holes in the board. 8) I then solder the four corners of the part. 9) I apply more flux over the pins. 10) I solder the pins using a screwdriver tip iron. 11) I then apply more flux and remove excess solder using the iron until all bridges are gone.

Great video and thanks for it. However, the amount of work and specialized equipment to fix such a badly designed usb port is insane! The real problem here is that the micro-usb connector is very small and weak, prone to breaking and wearing out easily. So why don't manufacturers, in the very least, make them much easier to replace? I've broken 3 such connectors on my Samsung phones and each time it cost $70 to fix. Now, I've switched to wireless charging.

Some copper connections came off. Does somebody know why this happens?
@DTSVK9 жыл бұрын
MoviesAK Too much heat applied. Copper traces are kept on PCB with some kind of solid glue and bond has been lost due to excessive heat.
@mrjt10819 жыл бұрын
Milos Stasko so is it impossible for repair when the copper connections came off?
@DTSVK9 жыл бұрын
Jackys Tran There is a way, but not for somebody who damaged PCB. You will need precise skills and good equipment. Simply said, replace loosen track with copper wire. Very thin one, something like used on winding of small electro motors. Just removing isolation from this wire and PCB line can be very tricky.

Why you doing it hard way? Removing connector using hot air is ok. Than using soldering machine and copper tape remove all solder from pads and holes.
