I agree that they have been looking for Jon. I think the event that "woke" the White Walkers was Jon's birth. I dont think they want to kill him in a battle. I think the Nights King is a greenseeing Stark, they want Jon's blood because it is both ice and fire, they need that for some reason. If I had to guess it would have something to do with making them more human once again. The Starks and the Targaryens had a pact of ice and fire, which were never fulfilled, but Rhaegar and Lyanna finally fulfilled the pact.
@ginar3459

Omg.. I never even considered that they would want to use him to become human again. Wild theory!
@ZENOBlAmusic
@ZENOBlAmusic 7 жыл бұрын
It is a wild theory. But it is difficult to think what the White Walkers could actually want suddenly, after 8000 years. They were once human, they were turned against their will. So my guess is that they would want to be more human again. Perhaps another theory is that they want to be able to reproduce on their own, without using human babies. But that also goes back to them wanting to be more human again. They have been dormant for thousands of years, we have gone through big events such as the disappearance of dragons. The doom of Valyria ext. Empires have fallen and risen, yet the White Walkers have stayed within the Land of Always Winter. The White Walkers were also active before Daenerys birthed her dragons, so that wasn't the big event for them. We know that Mance Rayder has dealt with the White Walkers before the start of the story. So I think it goes back to Jon's birth. It is the specific mixture of Stark blood along with the blood of Valyrian dragon riders that is important. That might answer the question about who they are looking for, and why they are suddenly active. Then if you have to connect it to what do they actually want, and what would they want with Jon specifically? They were once humans who have been been turned into icey killing machines for the Children of the Forest. They escaped the control of the Children of the Forest somehow. My guess is if you were turned into something against your will, you would want to take back what you have lost.
@ginar3459
@ginar3459 7 жыл бұрын
I can definitely see that as their goal! The reproductive aspect makes sense also! I always thought that it was going to be more complicated than just a chosen one who wins a battle. I do think Jon is going to broker some agreement. Maybe those symbols hold the clue as to how to get them more human?
@ZENOBlAmusic
@ZENOBlAmusic 7 жыл бұрын
I ve never thought about combining the symbols with the whole theory. You might be right, the symbols shows more intelligence or something. I am not sure if Jon would broker an agreement or if something else might happen. They might want Jon for his blood as a sacrifice. It would be somewhat ironic if Jon actually had to stay away from the White Walkers.
@ginar3459
@ginar3459 7 жыл бұрын
Maybe a sacrifice. Or he will have to sacrifice someone else like the original Azor Ahai. The legend of Azor Ahai is so old it is hard to know how a man with a flaming sword could possibly beat an entire army, so I always assumed it was metaphorical or we were missing a HUGE piece of information. Maybe he brokered a deal and humans eventually unknowingly turned on the deal? We know that the person closest to being able to communicate with them is Bran so he may play a huge role in everything. I am excited we will all know the ending soon!

I think, Jon is the perfect creation of the same magic, how the Children created the Walkers in the first place. What did the Children wanted in the first place with that creation? An ultimate King, who might be able to make peace between Men and the Children? Or an ultimate Warrior for Life? (the Children's magic is magic of life, so they might have considered themselves the Force of Life). Let's see, how they created the Walker: from a First men, dragonglass shard (dragonfire closed into rock), punched into his heart = First men blood combined with fire magic. Which is pretty much Jon's genom. Anyway, the Children has screwed the magic, because of two things, I think: 1. The creation went with intrusion, with aggression, with killing the First Man. Killing causes bloodlust and more killing. (Walkers, NK does not fight for life, but to kill everybody) 2. No balance between Ice and Fire part. There is dragonfire, magical fire closed into the dragonglass, but I think, it is less powerful, than a blood of a pure-blooded Targaryen (Rhaegar and Danaerys). The balance was pulled to the Ice side. Conclusion: WW, NK the power of eternal Winter, Ice. But Jon: 1. was conceived in love, and probably duty too (I think, Rhaegar and Lyanna met Bran on the Isle of Faces, where Rhaegar searched for the Knight of the Laughing tree and Bran told them about their roles in the prophecy: giving life to Jon) 2. Balance between the Ice and Fire part. Rhaegar was a pure-blooded Targaryen, his fire magic could be the same strong as the Ice part, the First man part in Lyanna. Which results, that Jon is really the thing, what the Children wanted to create in the first place 10 thousand years ago, to protect themselves, life, or establish peace with Men.

Mauro Javier Aguirre Sanroman Actually, it was Tyrion's idea to capture a wyte. You need to rewatch that episode. They'd already decided to go, but Jon said he'd go too, because he'd dealt with them before and wildlings wouldn't follow Jorah. Tyrion's plan, executed by others. Blaming Jon makes no sense. Also, before you say it, the writers said Jon didn't get on drogon so he could show off, they wanted to show him "throwing himself on the grenade" to save others. He held off Wytes so the others could escape. Those are the facts.

Absolutely agree with this theory, but with a few small differences: 1. I think the massacre at Hardhome was primarily the White Walkers preparing for the coming battles by adding meat to their undead army. I'm not so sure that the exact timing of the battle was coincidence, but I think they would've killed all those people regardless of whether Jon showed up. 2. The look on that White Walker's face to me was more than just surprised. In that moment, it looked completely shocked and somewhat afraid. Then it switched to rage and came at Jon full tilt, overswinging and leaving an opening for Jon to strike it with a fatal blow. 3. Even more interesting is how the Night King responds; he seems to ever so subtly change his facial expression from curiosity to anger, and when he raises his hands as a gesture to Jon, that anger turns into overconfidence (it almost appears to be smiling). As you said, the Night King is sizing Jon up, and giving him a sign of the vast strength of his opponent. 4. But that's the thing, it doesn't seem like the Night King is as interested in killing Jon. He's looking for a challenge. He seems more to me like he's looking for a sparring partner, a chance to finally be broken free from his curse. He was once a man, and was forced into his disposition by the Children, and Azor Ahai is his liberator.

Alex Swan I agree with all of that, and then seeing that the NK doesn't go after Jon in season 7, instead he kills Valerion, pretty much confirms it. The NK isn't after Jon to kill him. Maybe Jon will be the NK's champion. Maybe the NK is after a Targaryen for some reason.

I agree . The night king always has this bored expression on his face when his wights attack every time like he knows how the battle ends or he has seen different variations of defense , he is not suprised by anything anymore and his expression changed to curiosity when he saw Jon. With the fight with the whitewalker at Hardhome, it looked to me like the white walker was testing Jon to see his capabilities while the night king watched from above. He could have killed him several times . It's almost like he wanted Jon to see him resurrect the dead or more.

I agree. It's not by chance that they are back for the first time when a Targaryen and a Stark have an offspring for the first time. I think they are reacting to Jon. After all this time Jon is the first of his kind, if this wasn't important we would have heard of Starks marrying lesser Targaryens over the centuries but this has never happened. The series is names after this event. The most important thing is this ice and fire coming together and therefore Jon is the most important character.

I love the was you presented this! Remember, Jon Snow is the first time that Targaryen and Stark blood has combined. There was some sort of agreement that was never fulfilled between Starks/Targaryens about sending a Targaryen princess to marry a Stark. I can't remember offhand if this was a stipulation with the King who Knelt, maybe? Can't remember where exactly I saw it, but the obligation was never fulfilled. Must be something to do with 2 very powerful bloodlines combining.

I agree. The King has come to take his Queen. And in that meant at Hardhome he saw the Stark he would have to get through to claim her kill his general. And knows now..his Adversary has presented himself. The crypts have been locked and guarded by Blood magic, hence "there must always be a stark in winterfell" when bran and Rickon left...he felt a Pulse of her energy, calling to him. Jon with help will be Azor Ahai. I don't know if the PTWP and Azor Ahai will be the same in the show...or books. Great Video, needed muh Juiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Hence why there must always be a Stark in Winterfell. Yes I've read about and though on this theory before, it hasn't been explored in the tv show but the story is told by Ygritte to Jon, and there was the story Old Nan told Bran, about the Night's King being a Stark...that had even slept in his room once. But your point about the Night's Queen gets missed in the tv version...of all the things we learn about the Night's King, he fell in love with the Night's Queen, but we hear nothing of her demise...but it would be poetic for the Night's King to be searching for her. If the Night's King was originally a Stark, what was she?...A Targ? (or other way around). It must fit with the song of ice and fire somehow. The Others aren't depicted on screen as they are in the books.

Matthew Killffoil My working hypothesis is that *if* there's any literal truth to the ancient mythologies, the Maiden-Made-of-Light who turned her back on the world in Essos (in Great Empire of the Dawn's mythology) crossed to Westeros (via ice bridge, perhaps) and was the woman whom the Night's King pursued. If true, perhaps she was killed in the backlash of Starks and King Beyond the Wall, and buried in the crypts, but the Night's King wanted her back. He "gave her his soul" and made a deal with the CotF to become immortal and be able to raise the dead, and wishes to do so with his beloved. He fights to get her back and raise her from the crypt. Totally confirmed, obviously. ;)

that can be said about lots of events in the series. the theory which I believe says that the reason why white walkers showed up again, dragon eggs could hatch and a targerian could 'resist' the fire is because the magic decided to return to the world which was long gone. The reason why dragons could hatch is the return of magic and ultimately white walkers just to keep balance between ice and fire....

I dont think magic had ever disappeared, but it has become easier to perform. Melisandre must have been using her glamours for a long time. The Three Eyed Raven, or rather Brynden Rivers have been using his powers long before he ever reached the Wall. The Children of the Forest have always been active. When we meet Craster he gives his 99th son to the White Walkers, that must have been going on for a while. Mance Rayder have been dealing with the White Walkers for a while, from his perspective the White Walkers were after them because they had disturbed some graves. Mirri Maz Duur received some training, possibly about blood magic from Marwyn the Mage. There are a lot of hints that magic was never gone, and that the White Walkers have been active for a while.

**Zenobia** then what explanation do you have for tragedy of summerhall? why the targerians there were burnt means died due to fire and Dany survived 2 burnings?, also why didn't dragons could be hatched from the petrified eggs before? why wasn't there winter for a loooong time? I'm not saying ALL magic disappeared and reappeared but the most powerful magic, which is beyond anyone's control may it be Mel, greenseer, Merwyn quaithe R'hllor..... even the children...
@ZENOBlAmusic
@ZENOBlAmusic 7 жыл бұрын
Dany birthed her dragons by using blood magic, one death for each egg, the deaths of Drogo and Rhaego also had some real meaning for her. Dany had to lose something in order to gain something. Like the story of Azor Ahai who had to sacrifice his wife Nisa Nisa, in order to forge lightbringer. We dont know what they did at Summerhall, there are some rumours that sand and wildfire were used. We also know that the Maesters have always been against magic, the Maesters might have had a hand in the tragedy of Summerhall. Dany is not fire resistant in the books, it was a one time magical event, according to GRRM. She only walked out of the flames, when her dragons was born. Dany was burned by Drogon in the fighting pits. Dany does have some resistance against heat. But that is also not entirely unique, in the first book we see that Ned has some resilience against the cold. Summer has lasted for about 9 years, there have been a few winters before. Most of the characters within the story have experienced winter before.

I Loved that scene at hardhome, the look the Night King gives Jon when he defeats the white walker is one of amusement IMO. There's another crazy theory out there that is real interesting to me. We witnessed from the show how the COTF basicly transformed this poor human being into an abomination, forced to live out his eternity in the land of always winter, immortality can be a curse as well, this man surely had a life, a family, maybe even a wife and children of his own, imagine being transformed into this Ice demon against your will. I believe The Night King wants to finally end it all. I think he sees Jon as the only one who can maybe defeat him, or even crazier, that bitter sweet ending GRRM mentioned, might be that the only way for the white walkers to retreat and leave mankind alone is if Jon becomes the new Night King, after all we know Jon is selfless, and would sacrifice himself if it means being able to save humanity.

I"m not sure that I completely agree, but it could be the case. Look at it like this.... What made the White Walkers start their attacks? Something that occurred within the last 20-30 years, depending upon whether you're using the book timeline or the show's timeline. So, take your pick: - Robert's Rebellion. - Lyanna and Rhaegar, the "marriage" of ice and fire. - Jon, the result of ice and fire. - Any other events? It's pretty clear that Jon is the central figure of the story, so your theory could be accurate. The question would be, why? Was there an ancient pact that was violated? The Targaryans weren't in Westeros when the Long Winter occurred, so how would a union between Lyanna and Rhaegar upset the White Walkers? Man, I wish GRRM would bleeping WRITE HIS BOOKS before we all die from waiting!!! I like your channel. Please keep up the great work.

Very interesting and possible. If you look at the swirl symbol of bodies or horses the Whites leave behind it resembles the Targaryean swirl cidel. I think it has something to do with the Targaryean line. And Jon Snow is part Targaryean.

Something about this whole "Chosen One", "Prince that was Promised", "Azor Ahai" thing makes me uncomfortable. ASOIAF has proven itself to be far more sophisticated than your run-of-the-mill fictional stories. I find it hard to believe that this Azor Ahai thingy could be that simple. Jon is definitely special, and seems more special than even Danny and others. But there has to be a catch to all of this; a twist on the prophesy worthy of the sophistication of ASOIAF.
@burntorangehorn
@burntorangehorn 7 жыл бұрын
KhukuriGod I tend to agree, and it seems that the question isn't whether GRRM will take the books' plot to a trope-/cliché-killing diversion, but rather what that diversion might be. Plus, the Azor Ahai myth isn't necessarily related either the Last Hero vs Others/white walkers myth, or (despite Melidandre's frequent conflation of the two) the Prince That Was Promised myth. Anywhere from zero to all out of the LH, AA, and PTWP prophecies could be entirely unrelated to each other, and the only one of the three definitively linked to the Others in either prophecy or myth is the Last Hero.
@KhukuriGod
@KhukuriGod 7 жыл бұрын
Bradley S. Indeed, you're quite right when you say that these prophecies aren't necessarily connected. Isn't the Azor Ahai prophecy the product of far-eastern Essos, like Yi Ti or something? It's difficult to believe that the First Men of Westeros and the people of the Great Empire of Dawn were talking about the same person, given the fact that they are continents apart. Even if Eastern Essos and the Land of Always Winter are connected, the distance between them is still immense. Perhaps the Azor Ahai and other myths have something to do with special CIRCUMSTANCES that must be fulfilled in order to defeat the Others? Or perhaps, somehow, the magic of the Others is somehow responsible for the origin of the prophecy? You know, maybe it's a sort of pre-emptive strike of *propaganda* made by the Others immediately after The Long Night, in order to deceive and manipulate future humans to rely on only ONE person at the cost of entire nations or something to that effect. That might hinder the humans' war effort and even crush their will should the "Chosen One" be killed in battle.

KhukuriGod there will definitely be a twist in the 'books' but if it's the show we're talking about, I'm pretty sure it's going to be an obvious outcome. Spoiler. Just like how everyone predicted that the Knights of the vale was going to save Jons army during the Bolton fight. The show is too predictable :/

I read this in another video but here it is Rhaegar is Azor Ahai and the 3 swords Azor Ahai made (2 broke) represent Rhaegar's children, we know the 3rd sword Azor Ahai made became lightbringer, what if Rhaegar's 3rd child is Lightbringer? Azor Ahai killed his wife (it was his wife right?) to make Azor Ahai Lyanna died giving birth to Jon (lightbringer?)

grey why doesn't anyone ever mention the fact that as Robert was dying and he had his pen and paper that they ficsated on need righting when the rightful air comes of age do you think that had anything to do with John because he didn't right stannis
@markdaniel5784

Jon wouldn't have the right to inherit from Robert, he is not in the line is succession of the Baratheon family. Jon's right to the thrones competes with Roberts. I think Ned wrote that in a way so as not to draw attention to it during Robert's dying hours/days- or else why not just spill the whole beans to Robert then and there? Ned wanted it low key, which turned out to be a bad idea.

Knowing what we know about the "FireWalkers" now , I think Dany is the cause of their return .they know she has the "Fire" to raise a full army of Firewights to combat them and see it as a threat , remember they didn' attack same , much like the predator they only attack threats or those they percieve as threats ( imo that's what them not just killing Sam implies) ) so Dany coming into her own aka the Dragons causes them to go into deense mode and ome down to protect their interests

Yes, the same actor who played the man tied to the tree has replaced the original NK actor, but that's not necessarily meaningful, because he's a stuntman who has played several roles in the series.

Jon is indeed the first Prince Targaryen and Stark male blood baby in Westetos the first male child who was created by a Targaryen and a Starks in Westeros I repeated. What other child in Westeros has both Targaryen and Stark blood in them besides Jon? nobody. Which makes Jon very important he has a true valyrian blood in him which maybe could kill the Night King and his other wrights. Nuff said..😏 We Targaryens yes, We have Starks yes blood yes. But a child created by Ice and Fire yeah it said a lot. The Starks, Targaryens, Baratherons, and Lannisters are basic the top four main popular families in Westeros I mean it basic royalty blood families..
