Arya set a trap for The Waif. Remember, Arya learned to fight in the dark when she was blinded, so that's why she chose a dark room and cut the candle. She knew that she would have the advantage.

True. You can also see her going back to her water-dancing routine, a form of motion that her opponent can't anticipate since she hasn't fought Arya in this style before. Then she can't even try to adapt in the moment when she can't *see* her do it. 😄 Arya had her outmaneuvered 10-0 in that moment. Good thing Arya had to leave her sword aside when training against The Waif before.

@michelbrewer-yf1ny Yep, he also refused to remain loyal to a horrible king (Joffrey). Now I know some will say that it was just because the battle that drove the Hound away had to much fire and that's what caused him to break his oath. I would say it was an accumulation of things and the battle was just the last straw.
@rcherry19787 ай бұрын
Yes his brother taught him that early
@Khornedevotee5 ай бұрын
@@tealsummers2316 Well said, and all true. The Hound IS in actual fact a good man, unlike his older brother, Gregor Clegane, who does/did horrible things, and while Sandor hasn't exactly been innocent of some cruel and selfish acts, he did defend Arya and Sansa even though he didn't have to. Sure, you can agree to help someone even if you are a bad person(Gregor as a sworn banner knight to House Lannister, he does protect Cersei and every member of House Lannister, due to him being a champion of the Lannisters, in this case Cersei's champion), so you don't have to be a good person to help someone but only good people do it for little to nothing in return because they truly want to help, while bad loyal people can do it in exchange for something rather than for loyalty, but Sandor neither got paid nor recompensated for protecting these two. And the people of the Faith of the Seven, when they were killed, Sandor didn't have to go after the brigands who were responsible for the killings, but he did because he was enraged that they had murdered these innocent people and took it upon himself to avenge them. Gregor wouldn't have done that. Gregor would've been responsible for their killing if they had switched places. Sandor protected Sansa and Arya and avenged those people because he chose to, because he felt it was just. He doesn't want innocent people to get hurt, but even then he occasionally does bad stuff like stealing money and food from poor people to survive because he knows they won't survive. It's cruel to leave them to die slowly, but most of the time he does things for good. Gregor Clegane helps pretty much no one and doesn't give mercy to those who beg for it because he is a merciless killer.

The faceless men are a group of assassins, rather than a death cult. Lady Crane was killed because the price had been paid (by the other actress). Once the price is paid that person is pretty much dead already. A week, a month, a year, it's inevitable that death will come for them. The Rose is the Tyrell sigil, Margarey is basically saying "I'm still with you" The next 2 episodes are bangers.
@RogerBliddack Жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you said except for one thing... I think the Faceless Men are more of a 'cult of assassins' than just a 'group of assassins'... mainly because they constantly cite the religion of the Many-Faced God to justify their actions. A cult is usually steeped in religious beliefs. But groups? Not so much. And that seems to be how the Faceles Men operate... they are motivated by both money AND religion. Just saying.

The Hound has never been a bad guy. He’s always been a soldier who followed orders, but he had morals. The Hound tried to save Sansa, but she was too afraid of how he looked to trust him.f The Hound was also on Arya’s list of people to kill. Given the chance to kill him, Arya did not kill him.
@hemlock39910 ай бұрын
Throughput the series, The Hound has served institutions he held in contempt and done things he knew were wrong in order to survive. At the same time, he has consistently tried to help people suffering at the hands of bullies whenever he could, starting with Loras when The Mountain was angry after getting knocked off his horse at the tournament in season 1, and then Sansa on multiple occasions, the drunk who Joffrey wanted to have killed on his birthday, and Arya. When Brienne tried to take Arya, his decision to fight Brienne was 100% correct from the POV of protecting Arya because Brienne was carrying a Lannister sword, so for all he or Arya knew, she would have turned Arya over to the Lannisters as a hostage or to be killed. He is a deeply traumatized and cynical man with a good heart, who wants and tries to be good, but constantly has that tendency beaten out of him.

I think some ppl miss the mark when it comes to The Hound. He's a complex character that cannot or at least should not be labeled good or bad. As he told Arya, "there's plenty worse than me." He's kept Arya alive and saved Sansa as well. He even offered to take Sansa with him when he left Kingslanding, so IMO, he can't be that bad. He's definitely far from being a bad person. That "I'm disappointed" from the Blackfish must have really stung Jaime. In the books, Tywin was originally planning on marrying Jaime to Lysa Tully (Sansa's psycho aunt), and they spent some time visiting Riverrun, where Jaime was more interested in hearing war stories from the Blackfish than he was in getting to know his potential future wife. To hear that kind of snide remark from one of your childhood heroes must have really gotten under his skin.

A bit about the faceless men & the many faced god (no spoilers) because it's all pretty vague in the show: They aren't really a cult so much as an assassins guild run by religious fanatics. They don't really worship any singular god. They worship death & believe that death is likewise worshiped by all the religions in the world, just under different names & in different forms. They believe that all of the gods of each religion representing death are the "faces" with which death (as a god) has revealed himself to humanity - i.e. "the Many-Faced God" In the background in the temple scenes you can see idols of all the different religions of Westeros & Essos. As far as the killings and the faces, they don't just kill anyone. They are always paid by someone and once the price is paid the Many Faced God is owed the debt of a life (& another face for the hall of faces, which the guild uses as disguises). Early on we saw a terminally ill child brought in by her father, he paid the fee so she can drink from the fountain & go peacefully instead of further suffering. When Arya was tasked with poisoning the man on the docks, a crooked insurance man, the fee was payed by someone who was ripped off by the guy. Lady Crane's death was ordered by the younger actress (the show never tells us her motivation). The only reason they are trying to kill Arya is because she keeps breaking the rules. TBH even in the books the whole thing is pretty shrouded in mystery but it's mentioned by other characters that are looking to hire an assassin that the faceless men are VERY expensive...but they always get the job done. Here's the one thing I know of that the author has said about them: "The Faceless Men don't post a list of prices on their door. The way it works, you go to them and tell them who you want killed, and then they negotiate the price. The more prominent the victim, the more difficult to get to, the more dangerous for the assassin and the guild, the higher the price." - G. R. R. Martin

Arya's story is the best story. The house of black and white, the temple of the many faced god. He is known as the Stranger, one of the seven gods of Westeros. Aside from being the god of spies and assassins, he is basically the god of death. Death though isn't considered a punishment in itself, but a gift. The Stranger is pretty much neutral because death is neutral. Everyone dies and everyone has it coming, but to truly become the agent of death a person must become 'No one'. The books explain things a bit more than the show.

When Marjory slips her grandmother the rose (which is the symbol of their house) she is saying "I am still staying true to my family." The Mormonts of Bear Island are known to be mighty warriors. They train both their boys and their girls in fierce fighting techniques from a very young age. Don't forget that Jorah (who loves Danerys) is a Mormont, and that Jon's original commander on the Wall was Lord Mormont. Every Mormont warrior fights with the heart of ten men. The religion in the House of Black and White (in Braavos) really does serve the God of Death (aka the Stranger). There's a whole religion behind it. Euron on the Iron Islands became king because they drown their candidates for king (& all prominent positions). If they come back from being drowned (after their god, The Drowned God), then they are proven worthy to lead. Yeah, but he's wrong. Yarra should be queen.

Not to Day😏 But that's just another one of my theories😁 "Prophecy" you can't forget the prophecies in these shows.😐

"The Many Face God" just means they serve any and all gods of death. Consider that in the many different polytheistic pantheons across different religions and cultures, there are many gods in total that exist to represent the god of death. This is the "many faces" part, it's not referring to one god of death, but all of them. Hades, Hel, Pluto, Kali, Anubis... these are all the gods of death in their respective religions, they may all be the same entity, or perhaps not. Either way, death has many faces 😉.

The way to explain the faceless men is like they are an assassins guild. People pay them or offer tribute to them to kill people they want. The actress paid the faceless men to kill the woman who helped Arya . They don’t care who the target is they do it for gold and offer the victims up to the many faced god. I’m probably wrong but that’s how I understand it. That’s also why the waif did not like Arya because Arya never was no one. As she proclaimed at the end of the episode.
