Remember we were told "only death pays for life" so when Dany said to the witch "I don't want your screams, just your life" that equaled 3 deaths: Khal Drogo, her child, and the witch. That is what hatched the 3 dragon eggs! This is consistent pattern throughout the show.

The man (Yoren) kept calling Arya “boy”, to protect her identity. Since Ned was executed, the Stark girls are either wanted, or valuable hostages to the Lannisters. Yoren cut her hair and kept calling her “boy” so that she would pose herself as a boy and be able to escape the city without detection.

And going back a few episodes he was introduced as the Nights Watch recruiter, he’s obviously good friends (brothers of the watch) with Benjen Stark so he is disguising Arya as a boy recruit to protect the life of Benjen’s niece.

And Ned turned to Yoren as he was going to the platform because he had seen Arya watching and wanted Yoren to get her away.

When Ned was being led up to the podium, he passed Yoren and said “Baelor”. That was were Arya was, by the Baelor statue. He wanted Yoren to get her out of Kings Landing. Yoren is a friend of Ned’s brother Benjen and is also a sworn brother of The Nights Watch. Remember, he came to tell Ned that Catelyn took Tyrion.

Ok Amber, so...when the Northern lords are chanting "The King in the North!", they were calling back to when "the North" was an independent kingdom. The Starks & all the minor lords of the North, combined, can raise an army bigger than all the other Great Houses combined

That's not true. The population of the North is sparse. The most populated kingdom is the Reach.

Stark doesnt want to sit on the iron throne and rule King's Landing, they are declaring the north as a independent kingdom from rest of the seven kingdoms of Westeros (like they were for thousands of years before Targaryens took over)

In the last eps ned told the brother of the nights watch " Baylor" as in my daughter arya is on the statue of baylor. He was there to get men and boys for the nights watch as well as when he met arya in neds chambors he mistook her for a boy. So he figures he will cut her hair and call her a boy to get her back north. loveing the new channel! Watching your stranger things reactions too!❤ Im not sure what happened in that tent with the baby and danny and drogo but Targaryen babies are known to be still born alot and of thise still borns many have " dragon features". Mostly do to hundreds of years of inbreeding. They sometimes marry with another family but is at least one inbred marage per generation a lot of kings marry there sisters. 😮 Thats also why a lot of targarens are crazy😂.

The King in the North scene was filmed at Inch Abbey in Northern Ireland. It’s a medieval ruin and super cool. I visited in 2018 on a GoT locations tour. We also met two of the dogs who were the dire wolf puppies in the first episode. They both sadly passed away since.

When they named Rob Stark The King of the North that doesn't include the other six kingdoms. Joffery is now King of the 7 kingdoms. The North is in rebellion because Joffery killed Lord Ned Stark.

As someone who has never read any of the books I too was shocked when they killed Ned Stark. The Starks ruled as Kings of the North for 1000's of years. They became Wardens of the North after Aegon conquered Westeros.

It's good that you didn't read the books because by the 3rd season of GOT people were spoiling future episodes so they changed the story in the show. Some of the characters story arcs were changed drastically.

They don't do a great job foreshadowing the baby dragons in the show but in the books, Dany spends most of the first book obsessed with the dragon eggs and just sure she can feel warmth in them when no one else can. She tried putting them in the fire to hatch them, but nothing happened. She dreamed about a dragon that was the same color as one of the eggs, over and over again. And finally she worked it out. "Only life can pay for life." She literally sacrificed that godswife to bring the dragon eggs back to life, and then the big fire hatched them. Viserys was talking about small stunted dragons because the last time House Targaryen had any dragons, they were kept in a place that didn't let them grow very big. A dragon in that world will only grow as big as there is space available for it. These dragons will not have that problem.

There was a king in the north hundreds of years before this. Lord Torrence Stark bent the knee to Aegon the first (the conqueror). So Starks have been “wardens “ of the north since then.

Ned being executed is what made me even consider watching the show in the 1st place starting with the 2nd season. It is rare to find series that are willing to kill off main characters and when a series is willing to do that it makes the stakes real and, for me, much more fun to watch.

Loving your reactions to this great show! It really pulls your emotions in all directions and takes you from lows to highs and back again. I think the costuming and sets in this show are so amazing. Looking forward to season 2. And as much as I know you don't like zombies, you absolutely MUST watch the walking dead. You'll struggle every episode, but you won't be able to stop once you've gotten into it.

In the book, the godswife put a poultice on Drogo's injury and warned him to leave it in place for a certain number of days. She also told him to lay off the booze (the Dothraki drink fermented mare's milk). He didn't listen to either of her warnings, went to one of the herb women and got the poultice replaced because it burned and itched and then went right ahead and drank anyway. Now it could be that she knew he'd do that and chose an irritating treatment on purpose. She was smart enough to predict how he'd probably behave. But we never find out for sure in the books.

In the book, it's made clear she gave Drogo the best care available. The poultice she applied to his wound burned, so he took it off and had a Dothraki apply a poultice which eased the pain but didn't fight infection. On top of everything else, he insulted her skills as a healer even when she had no cause to help him.

It's true that Drogo didn't follow her directions, but I can't decide whether she was earnestly trying to heal him. Giving him something to put on his wound and telling him not to use any other medicine would also be a pretty effective way to sicken or kill him. I could really see it going either way. I wonder if anyone's asked GRRM.

Don't forget to watch the "History And Law" video for Season 1 next: it'll fill you in on a lot of background, altohugh just like real history books, everyone presenting it is doing so from their own perspective and with their own biases. When the Northern Lords pledged to make Rob King In The North, they weren't wanting him to sit on the Iron Throne and rule all of Westeros. What they want is for him to make The North an independent kingdom again, separate from the rest of the Continent. All the regions of Westeros used to be independent kingdoms for thousands of years, hence why Westeros is called "The Seven Kingdoms". They were only united when Aegon Targaryen invaded with dragons 300 years ago. Some lords stood against him, died with their families and houses, and were replaced by more compliant ones. Others realised the futility of fighting dragons with swords, knelt (i.e. surrendered) to Aegon and got to stay in charge of their territories. The Lord Stark of the time chose to kneel and avoid a massacre, hence the comment "it was the dragons we knelt to". The Brother of the Night's Watch taking Arya to The Wall is called Yoren. Dany's dragon-baby miscarriage is something that has happened a lot in the Targaryen family. There's some inherited component to the ability to control dragons which is passed down the bloodline. This is why they do incest a lot: to prevent that "dragon blood" getting diluted. The flip side is that the incest leads to the frequent miscarriages, and the frequency of madness, in the family.

About Drogo's wound: In the book, Mirri Maz Duur (the witch) makes him a poultice for his wound and tells him to get lots of rest and avoid alcohol. Drogo ignores this advice, throwing away the poultice and carousing each night into the wee hours of the morning. As as to the cause in the show, who can say?

Like I said in the last vid everything at the start was pretty tight and together all heading in 1 direction. After Neds death it exploded and now everyone is heading away from the center except..... Dany....she's got 1 mind and thats to head straight into the middle of it all. To say it gets wild over the next 4 or 5 seasons would be an absolute understatement.

On top of everything it is also a morality play! Think back to the first episode. Ned Stark beheaded the deserter, but made the point to his son that "The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." Compare that kind of personal responsibility to the behavior of Joeffery when he orders Ned killed, or has his guard strike Sansa. The moral strength of each character is a vital plot element.

GoT does a great job with compelling seasons ending episodes. It was wild having to wait a year, or longer, for the next season. You should add Westworld to you list of series to watch.

It was a thing in some cultures for other people (wives, servants, slaves, etc.) to go with whatever important person had died to the afterlife, in the funeral pyre, though I think they generally killed or drugged them first, so they weren't feeling the fire. So Jorah thought Dany was sacrificing herself to follow Drogo into the afterlife. You have to wonder how sure/unsure she was as to what would happen, as she had that moment where she realized she wasn't burnt when the servant girl was. And if you get into the lore of this world, her ancestors had forgotten how to get dragon eggs to hatch and one particular Targaryen king was trying all these experiments to try and make it happen, including throwing them into fire, which resulted in a big tragedy way before her time. So she may have instinctually thought maybe it would hatch the eggs, but she couldn't have been sure. Probably the witch lady telling her that death pays for life made her think of it.
