It really bothers me that anyone would even suspect Ethan Mars on the basis of such flimsy evidence. It's completely possible to be interested in origami without being a serial killer; the fact that there are 47 origami shops within 1 mile of each other shows that there's probably more than one person who likes origami. Also, Ethan was comatose when the killings began 2 years ago. The game never brings this up as a method of obviously proving his innocence. In fact, once the doctor mentions it during Ethan's psych visit, it never gets brought up again.

@genericwhitekidthesecond43307 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not they had a entire storyline plot point that actually made sense involving the blackouts. But unfortunately they cut it from the game. Basically when Ethan dove in front of the car to save Jason he somehow made a psychic link with Scott Shelby, who was in the audience at the time, so whenever he had blackouts what it actually was is that he was instead having visions of the environment he was standing in becoming flooded with water until everything became submerged under the water. Ethan would swim around in the water going through the memories of Scott from him as an adult all the way to him as a kid with paper origami and orchids floating around in the water all collmunating in him coming across the dead corpse of the newest victim of the Origami Killer only to later find out that the kid he saw would be the next victim. And just like in the game he would eventually come to standing at carnaby square with a origami figure in his hand. They unfortunately cut these scenes from the game late in development and didn't have time to rewrite the story making what was a well explained plot point become a plot hole.

Another sin for the counter: Virtually anybody in the game can die and not be present in the final scene except for Lt. Blake, the guy so cartoonishly over-the-top in how bad a cop he is that he might as well kidnap Ethan's childhood sweetheart and tie her to railroad tracks for no reason.

1) The funny thing is Ethan wants to shoot Scott for revenge with the gun that he uses for the murdering trial after everything Scott does to him *but only* if Jayden and Madison are dead or they couldn't find the warehouse's adress. If one or two of them manage to go to the warehouse, he *strangely* doesn't think about shooting him. For Scott he respects and thanks Ethan *only the ending* that Ethan is the only person that manages to go to the warehouse but he clearly has no information about Jayden finding out the truth about him or Madison surviving from his burned house. However during the Ethan&Norman or both of them and Madison manage to go to the warehouse endings, he *strangely* wants to finish Ethan. Apart from that, it may be acceptible for him wanting to shoot Madison if she is there with Ethan. But him wanting to shoot Ethan in that ending too doesn't make sense. 2) Blake and his crew don't find the warehouse if Ethan and Norman or Ethan and Madison manage to go there. But if the trio or only Ethan manage to go there, they *somehow* find the warehouse.
@amogussex99214 жыл бұрын
Slight correction, Ethan does actually shoot Shelby IF Madison are the only ones there. At the end before Shelby Is about to throw her off, Ethan shoots him from behind if you succeed in your QTEs with Madison. Of course this then adds another idiotic inconsistency by the fact that Ethan doesn't show up if you fail Madison's QTEs even though that should have no effect whatsoever on what Ethan does...

I don't know whether this has been said before but another sin is that the therapist says that he can't talk because their sessions are confidential, but he can legally disclose information if he believes Ethan is a danger to himself or to other people. When he finally tells them what he knows, it's clear that there are hints Ethan is the Origami Killer (drowning bodies, origami etc) so it makes no sense why he doesn't tell Blake and Jayden.

This bothered me as well. Shelby looks older than 44. I thought that perhaps Shelby was going to be revealed as the father of the boys. That said, it was still a good game.
@Gabriellaella234 жыл бұрын
The math checks out though. The current year is 2011 in the game. It was 1975 when John died according to the grave. That was 36 years, not 30. That means they would have been 8 when John died.

I was just thinking about this: Jason & Shaun have absolutely zero depth to their characters; they literally just exist to be traumatized & killed. I can't empathize with Ethan & his plight at all because he lost *both of his kids* under very manageable circumstances; the dude's a moron lol.

Scott constantly needed his inhaler when we played the first few chapters from his perspective - then magically later that is never seen as an issue again (yes, even during the finale where he definitely would have struggled with asthma the MOST). Madison started with having insomnia and some sort of ptsd/sleep paralysis demon and then that is NEVER seen as an issue again, or even mentioned EVER again unless you have that one specific ending (which still doesn't contribute shit to anything at all). Ethan had blackouts and then never had it again nor it was ever explained but this is probably one of the biggest things people talk about so I guess everyone already knows it. Man I really wanted to love this game and I actually had a good time with the game.... Until I stopped playing and start thinking for a second. I really wanted this game to be the "pinnacle of interactive/story-movie games" that journalists and reviewers alike spoke so highly of it back then. About the "did they not think to get Shaun to a therapist" comment: my parents were a LOT worse. I was seven when I saw my brother die in a hospital bed, and because no one wanted to explain what the FUCK was wrong with him medically to cause him to be hospitalized in the first place, I became an anxious germophobe until I was thirteen when I started reading SELF HELP BOOKS. The first time I saw a therapist was when I was fifteen, for my anxiety (which was kickstarted by having no clue why my brother died), and my parents didn't give a shit, despite both of them having gone to therapy over my brother's death. All in all, real parents also make the mistake of thinking they need therapy, but that their other children don't. I was a bit like Shaun trying to cope, but instead of drawing pictures, I wrote my will and testament. Really. A seven year old writing things like "if I die, give my stuffed squid to my friend, Chris, and give my books to Sarah." And my parents did not think that was unsettling at all.
@GreenWolfRaider8 жыл бұрын
Although I feel you're right that parents can be selfish and not realize their mistakes, I think in regards to heavy rain, the writers didn't think about the idea that Shaun may need therapy or had a scene where Ethan's ex wife or maybe Ethan's therapist recommend Shaun get a therapist and make Ethan realize he's being more of a selfish prick than he already is. (Seriously, "I have no reason to live" while having Shaun is pretty messed up.)
@ni-dirus8 жыл бұрын
Ethan is basically a carbon copy of my mother in that regard, and it's probably the writers' faults, it still works as characterization. We can have dumbass parent characters because they're just as realistic as doting or overbearing parents. I forgive the characterization more than I do the shoddy character interactions, such as the random sex scene and "I thought you cared about me" directed at a woman he just met. The writers just sort of expected players to ship them or see chemistry where it wasn't there.

The characters trying to pronounce “origami” is ironically hilarious, considering how important origami is for the plot. “arigamy”, “ahreegamie”, “origarmy” etc. However, Gordi not being able to pronounce origami is a pretty good hint for the audience that he is lying about being the origami killer. Shelby is investigating the murders because someone copied him. Shelby considers this a great opportunity to blame someone else for the murders Shelby committed as the origami killer. Shelby is however helping Lauren to find a lot of clues that point towards himself being the killer. Which seems very counterproductive if that was his plan.

How did you miss the worst part? It was raining for days but when Madison talks to Ann her room is filled with sunlights. WTF?

Did anyone else noticed that Jayden in this game was basically the human version of Connor from Detroit Become Human? Both are detectives with an AI that assists them in their investigations, both were assigned to help the local police solve an important case, both are skilled at fighting and their look and even voice are very much alike

And both of them are more efficient than the police on their own.

Yeah Jayden is basically what a human Connor would be like and even their stories are similar. Both are far better than the detectives they're forced to work with, get bullied for no reason by a rude, asshole detective, end up realising that they're on the wrong side and end up saving the other characters by arriving at the last second.

@@lilchaos9212Don't you compare Hank Anderson to Carter Blake. Blake is a psychopath who obviously hates his job & jealous of Norman Jayden because he has more efforts in the case & Blake just points fingers at anyone that can be a suspect without further investigation. The scene were Jayden & Blake went to Ethan's psychiatrist explain it alot the fact that he saw an origami figure being given by the psychiatrist that said fell out of Ethan's pockets he immediately accused Ethan it's obvious that he just wants praises & couldn't care about the job or giving it proper justice. Meanwhile Lieutenant Hank Anderson a lieutenant in Detroit become human may have anger issues but you can clearly see that he actually cares about his job. At first he hates investigating deviants androids that has emotions because he thought that an android killed his son by accident during operation what he didn't know there was a human doctor on the influence of drugs that did the surgery causing his son's life. Now lieutenant Anderson maybe alcoholic but atleast he cared you can even see his frustrations if you fail to capture a deviant while Blake dosen't care that Ethan the wrong person may rot in jail for the crime he didn't commit while the serial killer is still on the lose.

This part is the best. Norman: I’m here to see Packo. Guard: Paco? “Actually, he said Packo.” 😂😂

I won't lie; I love how the "Oregarmy" theme and your reaction to each mess up develops in this video from mild annoyance, to proper dissatisfied semi-anger, to passive-aggressive call outs. It's goddamned beautiful.

It really irritates me that none of the fathers went to the police after they got the box from the origami killer. And as you said: Shelby saw that Ethan tried to save Jason, then why make him go trough all this shit. Was Shelby blind or something ? Also the blackouts was actually going to be Ethan kind of see the victims that the origami killer has drowned, so when he got the blackouts, he was swimming around in water. You can see that in behind the scenes or deleted scenes. I don't understand why they kept the blackouts there if they doesn't make any scenes and they suddenly stop talking about it lol

I think on 154 one of the police officers mentioned they've managed to track Ethan's car or bumped into it during patrol or something. That's why the police know where he is. Dunno how did Madison acquired that info though. On 163 there is a scene where Shelby erases fingerprints on the typewriter he used to kill Manfred, but you'll get to see it during the evidence burning scene. 239 He stole it from a taxidriver

You missed the bit with the match in the vent. "The match flame indicates where the fresh air is coming from" - therefore you should be heading towards the source of the airflow, in other words in the opposite direction that the flame is being blown. Why would there be fresh air blowing from inside the building to outside the building?
