Big Bossman I wasn't paying attention to the video so I randomly looked up during that game's load screen, saw the main character and genuinely thought the game was a licensed 3D platformer from the Chucky franchise. It was very confusing for a moment: what an odd IP and genre combination that would be for a game.

That widescreen mode in Pac-Man World on the PS1 is fascinating. It's not anamorphic widescreen where the TV has to stretch out the image to fill the screen, but instead the game simply seems to be drawing more information in the overscan area of the picture that would normally remain black.

You really should do a video on *Licensed 3D Platformers* or *Obscure Licensed Games.* I can definitely suggest a few, like Scooby Doo! Night of 100 Frights, Transformers (2004 PS2), Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, and The Thing. Preferably the Xbox version of The Thing, the PC version is a direct port of the PS2 version, and, trust me, the lighting and shadow effects on the Xbox version REALLY add to the atmosphere.

I had Pac-Man World 1 and 2 growing up. Could never beat the Galaga/Galaxian boss in the first one, but somehow did beat all of 2. Going back to the second one years later made me wonder how I beat it, it just felt so slippery trying to get everything in the home world. Never played 3 though, looks a bit weird compared to the first two games. The rest of the games? I think I've heard of Legend of Kay, but never seen it, nor did I ever see or hear about the remaining games. So, good job on picking obscure games. The episode title is, in fact, truthful.

Dude, that tennis game has 2 extra game ports IN THE CARTRIDGE? Brilliant! I had no idea that feature even existed. What a clever solution for expanding the number of players for a cart game. I always liked the idea of expanding the functionality of a console through peripherals, and especially the games themselves (things like the SuperFX chips, the RAMBUS RAM upgrade for the N64, the Gameboy add-ons, the stacking cartridge functionality of Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles, the Game Genie/Pro-Action Replay, the SNES CD addon and N64 DD that we sadly never got, the 32X and Sega-CD (if only they had wider dev support and fewer FMV titles (an unfortunate trend of the time that I always despised), and of course the oddball peripherals like the Super Scope 6, Power Pad, Power Glove etc. even though they often kinda sucked and/or had few games that supported them). It always seemed like a neat concept that I could buy something that could vastly alter/upgrade the capabilities of my system (one of the reasons I've been a PC gamer ever since I got my first PC back in 2004 and went nuts doing upgrades and adding peripherals, drives and expansion cards). I've always held out hope that Nintendo, Sony, and/or Microsoft would finally design a console with planned future upgradeability in mind, similar to how AMD plans for future CPU support for their existing chipsets so that owners could potentially upgrade their CPU and/or GPU in the future as new technology becomes available to keep up with the latest enhancements to games and graphics rather than having to wait 5+ years just to buy an entirely new console to replace the existing one (though at least they seem more focused on providing backwards compatibility now, which is a huge step in the right direction, as is allowing for drive upgrades). But if they had a modular console with swappable CPU carts/cards and/or upgradeable graphics (like with an open PCIe/MXM slot that you could just insert a special GPU upgrade card into to replace the functionality of the integrated GPU or augment it through Explicit Multi-Adapter support or Crossfire/SLI) it would make keeping up with PC and the latest graphics/gaming tech much easier and extend the life of each console generation. They could still make new consoles every 5 years or whatever, but if they had an option to upgrade the existing models to match the specs of the new ones for a lower cost, that would be an awesome way to retain their customers and eliminate a lot of e-waste, not to mention cut down massively on manufacturing costs since they wouldn't need to produce nearly as many new consoles each generation, at least for as long as it is viable to upgrade rather than replace the existing console (eventually bus speeds and other tech will outpace what can be accomplished via upgrades, but that usually doesn't happen within 5 years; usually more like 10+, especially these days with Moore's Law slowing down and performance gains becoming harder to come by even with new processes/node shrinks and new architectures).

Good stuff as always. This was a stroll through memory lane of a lot of bad gameplay concepts. I remember the shift to 3D driving me back to 2D after a few years. The GBA came at the right time for me. Anyway, I agree with wanting to start having fun in a game early on. That's why Okami made such a terrible first impression on me when I tried it on the PS2. It then made a bunch of terrible follow-up impressions as I played it further. I know people like it, and they may have fixed some of the problems with updated versions, but it wasn't for me, at least on the PS2. Regardless, that intro sequence in Okami is one of the worst things I've experienced in gaming.

I have all 3 PacMan World games on both PS1/2, and GameCube since I'm a big PacMan fan/collector, and I have to agree the 3rd one while a decent game, just feels odd for a PacMan game like he was shoehorned in at the last minute, and they had to retweek it to be a PacMan game. I had the most fun with the PacMan World 2 on the GameCube due to controller layout, but it has gone up in price in the last few years, so I would go with the PS2 version if you just want to play the game, and save some coin. In fact come to think of it just about all the PacMan games of that era on the N64/GameCube have gone up in price but the PS1/PS2 games for the most part have either stagnated, or dropped in price.
