I'm surprised that he only noticed the slide magically locking back on the Beretta. One of my biggest gripes with B4B is that all of the weapons have only one reload animation, regardless of whether or not they are empty.
@stevenbobbybills
@stevenbobbybills 2 жыл бұрын
That's probably my biggest problem with the stylistic side of the game, considering that separate tactical / empty reload animations have became a genre staple by this point. Not only is it less "correct" or "realistic", it also removes the strategy of timing your reloads to get faster animations.
@tropicalfruit4571

I'm pretty sure the "tilt" of the guns while crouched is something that they just grabbed from Titanfall, where most of the time you're "crouched" is when sliding and then it kinda makes more sense, then it got put into other games just as maybe a stylistic choice or as a way for your gun to tell you if you're crouched or standing.
@TeeBeeOhh
@TeeBeeOhh 2 жыл бұрын
It's also a hood indicator to see that you are in fact crouching, which makes sense for a game like titanfall where you go in and out of crouch rapidly for movement.

Yeah for me it is a visual cue of your stance or way to use the weapon that is clearly different than just "ADS". I haven't played this game, so I assume that when it went "gangster" it meant you were bracing it to "tighten the hipfire crosshair" which would be great for a zombie game. Kind of like in games where you don't completely ADS, but you do that "slightly zoomed in with tighter crosshairs" mode. EDIT: Watched the M9 clip again, it definitely tightens your hipfire spread. It is WAY easier to show the player a tilted weapon over an icon or "Fallout 3 zoom" and tell the player they can magdump into a crowd.
@playlistanonymous5414
@playlistanonymous5414 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I prefer it like this over having a little icon on screen telling you you're crouched. Far Cry 2 did it as well, just not tilting the gun, more having a lowered profile. It's smart design that doesn't clutter the HUD.

I think it's a mix of easily identifiable design (it's massive) that was clear even with late 90s graphics, having a niche as a lower capacity high damage pistol, being well represented by action movies around when FPS games took off (The Matrix, Desperado, etc.), and even as games got a little more detailed it was now gaming tradition to include the thing.

The thing about the AA-12 is that it has a recoil damping mechanism. Makes the thing quite heavy, but it's astonishingly effective. It got scrapped because the ATF deemed it too easy to convert to full auto, therefore making it a defacto "machine gun" in their eyes (it was still semiautomatic but this is how they defined what a machine gun is); the company that was producing it took the design back to the drawing board and they're now working on another way of making it fire from a closed bolt in semiauto.

Regarding the reload of the "M4 Carbine": in military service on the HK416, we learned to input the magazine with the thumb positioned to release the bolt quickly after. In a magazine competition cycling through 7 mags, each with 2 bullets hitting within the 9-target at 15 meters, I averaged at 3 seconds per complete reload from tactical west and a total time of 27 seconds, hitting all 14 shots. So definitely taught in military settings and was very often reliable and consistently successful in my experience.

Another thing about blood on the weapon - it starts off wet and film-y, which is easy to clean off, but with time and/or heat (such as the pressure-baring parts of a weapon under heavy use) - it will sinter and coagulate on the surface very quickly. When also combined with other viscera, you've got a recipe for making your gun only good as a barbecue.

Part of the reason for the tilt I would assume is to give the player more view space when they are crouched. I feel like when a player is standing and you can see the arms grabbing the gun you have your feet underneath you which is fine; however when you crouch, the ground 'moves up' on your screen and your view gets *slightly* lessened with the gun taking up a good chunk of the right side. They could also just like the look of the 'McMillan Tilt' pistol hold and moved it over to rifles as well.

I believe the gameplay reason the character “gangster holds” the weapons is to let the player know they’re crouching. The first time I saw it was within Titanfall 2, which lets you enable crouch in the air which isn’t typical. The way games normally let you know you’re crouching through just lowering the camera doesn’t really work when you’re in the air, so they added an animation of the character tilting their weapon that will make sure the player knows they have enabled crouch regardless of if they’re in the air or on the ground.
