Not going to dislike because the review was good, but man is this game bad. It is quite a far cry from the other games in the series, and for the worst. The sisters really annoyed me pretty quickly after the start, the health bar enemies are very destiny like and I hated destiny. Bulletsponges are my least desired mechanics and this game likes to throw them in. Basically, the RPG mechanics, "open world", and microtransactions ruined it for me. Glad I was able to return it.

I am a fan of the previous Maschine games Wolfenstein games, but that game is grindy, has leveling, a bad story, badly written protagonists, the microtransactions (cosmetics, but they are annoying), compared to the other games is just sad. I can understand that Coop can be fun, but you see the influence of Bethesda here. As a core Fan it's just depressing to see what they did with the source material.

This is BY FAR the most charitable review I've seen for Wolf: Young Blood. Every other reviewer I've seen cover it has torn it to shreds, but all of them also experienced a LOT more crippling AI incompetence and bugs than what you guys did.

Also the massive spam of cutscene's didn't play out favorably for me. RTCW and Wolfenstein 2009 are still good contenders for this new shit.

@Connor Hetherington-lipari I don't know what a "pure Wolfenstein" experience is supposed to mean based on the hate towards this game. A corridor shooter? RtCW? Wolf 09 (which we think is extremely underrated)? TNO which had a perk system? TNC? Most of these are noticeably different from the last. Wolf 3D and Spear are the only two that are basically the same in terms of core gameplay. I'm going to guess everyone just wants another RtCW. What is shared between all the games is killing Nazis. You still get to do that in Youngblood. Granted, the game has issues in the gameplay area.

I dont Understand the hate I mean the game looks good to me so I don’t get why people hate it. Apparently it’s because the micro transactions and the cringy dialogue but the thing is the micro transactions are cosmetic so they don’t effect gameplay and with the dialogue all you have to do is just ignore them, that last thing I heard was because of the difficulty. I love a hard game but to be honest these people must have played the new order and are not used to the way the original games worked since the original never really had. A story and to be honest I don’t mind, hell I don’t even mind the lack of story and it does have decent replayability and I plan on getting it to. I even have a few friends who played the game as well and they enjoyed it for what it is. And I think these people are so used to the recent wolfienstien games that they expect to be like the previous ones but I think the game is a nice change of pace since new colossus dropped the ball.

​@@Tidushii Oh, the game has problems. The lack of checkpoints and the fact that the game keeps going when you pause is annoying. Plus, I did find the story lacking and it only really comes up towards the end to hint at what's to come. In the end, I still enjoyed the game. Is it my favorite in the series? No, but I'll take Wolfenstein over Call of Halo: Modern Battlefield Ops 25 WWII any day of the week.

I also don't get all the hate. I have a blast solo without any AI problems and I have a blast playing the game in coop with my gf (which also has a blast despite being not really into games). The only annoying thing to me is the shield system combined with the slow weapon switching. And while this game has new "Wolfenstein 3D" levels, they are terrible beyond belief and an insult to the original. Also, I really like the chars. Sure, B.J. would be better, but still, 2 quirky girls enjoying themselves killing nazis are totally fine by me.

You know you could write the daughter's better in a very simple way: Make them the bad guys. Have them slowly go down a dark path, doing worse and worse things in the name of thrills. If Blazkowitz raised a duo of out of touch psychopaths, focus on that. Express that despite his best efforts, he failed as a father in the exact opposite way of his father that we saw in New Colossus. His father made him into a silent hero through his abuse. Let him give his daughters too much power while failing to induce morality. Then you have a duo causing chaos in a world they do not understand nor want to understand, that he has to stop before they actually destroy it for everyone. THAT'S an engaging story.

I don't get why people complain about a lack off singleplayer mechanics, it's supposed to be coop/pve. I think the problem is that they didn't go far enough with the coop mechanic, they should have made something completely like l4d. I wish quickplay could be more usefull with someform of communnication mechanics(it surprises me, that no one complains about that but about not being able to pause in a mainly online game), but somehow half the people I connect to, are just afk. I assume that they're leveling their characters but they take way to fucking long

My friend, you have my respect. Defending this game is a thing that really should be done, in fact. Abusive fans are harrasing the game, attacking it hard and committing injustices. The core elements of a good fps are all there: the weapons display an amazing design and are fun to use, the enemies are equally cool and rich in detail, and the locations are created with the same care. Sure, it is not a perfect game, it is not a typical Wolfenstein game and the two main characters are annoying, but in the end the experience offered makes it woth buy and to play. The gunplay is very cool: Having to work to take down an armored enemy, shooting it multiple times with an adequate weapon to go through their armor is very satisfying, and I have to say I don't see many fps games have this same feeling as this game provided. People who call the enemies in this game bullet sponges don't seem to understand the term: one thing is to shoot a full magazine in a unprotected, unarmored individual with only cloths on, like you do with the division, another completely different thing is to shoot an armor clad opponent and have to pierce and destroy their defenses before taking them down. The feeling in this two distinct situations is really different. In the former (the division games), your brain can't even believe for a moment and it is devoided of taste when you finally take the opponent down. Another thing is that people are really close to some experimentation, like this game was. I understand that people are afraid of changes in every aspect of life, and in games it is no different (I'm like that too). Maybe Machine Games should have made it clear that this game was a different take on the Wolfenstein series before release the game, so people will accept and adapt with time. This way the argument that "they are destroying my beloved franchise" would not have been valid even for a moment. About the microtransactions, I really dislike it too. But all of it is cosmetic and not necessary at all to enjoy the game fully. The hate on it is injustified. Anyway, its turn up to be a good and different kind of Wolfenstein to play. It is a shame that people are trying to close the door to new and different types of games in the same universe of Wolfenstein, which is a thing that all of us could profit with.

Aside from the discussion on writing and girls being cringy (woe is me), i do hate the forced multiplayer. I haven''t encountered issues with the AI as much as other people, but, the weird part is that it didn't need to be forced? Like, in Wolfen 1 right, you get to choose who live or who dies in the beggining. Imagine if, if you're playing solo, the one you don't choose get kidnapped or something, heck if you wanna go ham even make her get brainwashed and become a last boss, and if you're multiplayer then its both girls fighting clones for some stupid reason. Like, it's not like theres a million cutscenes, and its not like they didnt have a budget. On the cringy stuff, i didnt mind, like the chair tech lady said, they weird, so yeah, its a bit shallower than BJ, but, the game does take itself less serious, its not really the direction fans wanted tho, and that the point. Also it didnt go full ham, its stuck in a weird unfun middle where it dosent go too stupid funny haha, but also, isnt too serious, and that middle does end up being boring, just like the 80's theme isnt super strong for some reason, its prime 80's ham, and yet, its just half ham.

Its not horrible. The gameplay is still solid like the previous entries. It really has RPG elements in it, people just play it wrong. In every RPG usually you can't go in a zone with higher level enemies because they will kill you very fast. The main goal here is to kill as much enemies to get XP and Coins so you can upgrade your weapons for more and more damage. When you do this you can easily kill even stronger enemies. This game is small the fun of it is not in the "story" which is not a big deal. It's about the gameplay. I still can't understand why people try to rush in a high level zones and cry that they can't kill the enemies. That's just stupid... I think they don't have any idea how to play properly an RPG/Action game. Yea the characters may be stupid and the jokes, who cares? The shooting is still the same and it's a lot of fun with the abilities and upgrades. I don't care about the story if the gameplay is still fun nothing else matters. You should be playing the game for the challenge with a friend shooting thru enemies and not care about the story or the length of the game.

I wonder why they changed the enemy/damage model from the new colossus. playing on the hardest difficulty on TNC was super fair and all you had to do was be fast and accurate and make use of all your equipment, but this looks super spongy... like a better Destiny (yuck)

Less story, better weapon system (actual high end guns in inventory again),, better level design (closer to wolf 2009) and ultimately more repayable. I don't understand the insanely low user scores, I agree with this review. It's amazing that so many players nuk3 their scores just because of the story, which is odd in a gameplay centric fps, of which there aren't a huge amount.

This is honestly the first review I've watched on the game that seems reasonable! After putting 14 hours in it with a friend, I can 100% say that this is pretty much exactly how I felt about the whole thing. It's not a great game and it might be the worst in the series but that's not calling it a bad game. I think a it's a solid 7/10 and a hell of a good time with a friend.

If you enjoy that, that's fine. I respect your opinion, but this game has to be the worst Wolfenstein that I've seen. Character wise, the analogy of the twins to Beavis and Butthead is somewhat incorrect. Would they be bratty when they are a descendat of a badass man? I feel that they are one of the worst protagonist that I've seen. They feel similar to the 2016 Ghostbuster protagonist, which I would never want to watch. Plot wise, it's like toilet paper and water mixed. They could make it good, like having the daughters having difficulty because of their father's backgrould. But, they mess it up with forced politics and the ending is sequel bait. Gameplay wise, the AI in singleplayer is horrendous. There are boosters, which buffs the characters. I feel that they will make the game Play 2 win, something that would make me never want to play anything from MachineGames forward. Certain enemies needs to be killed by certain guns, which makes it tedious and clunky. Also, missing from New Order and New Colossus is the ability to dual weld any weapons. Lore wise, the suicide dogs don't make sense, as Hitler was a Animal rights activist, surprise surprise. Most of the weapons in Youngblood is pretty outdated for the era that is set in. At the end of the day, if you enjoy it, good for you.

As someone who used to play DIII4A (A doom 3 port to android) on my nvidia shield, I get that porting a game designed for PC to a portable platform is gonna come with some drawbacks, but holy shit that was a source port designed by like one guy for hardware that was less powerful than the switch and youngblood has the backing of zenimax and many developers, yet DIII4A ran way better than this does with the right configuration and looks about as good as the original xbox version. That switch framerate for youngblood looks unplayable; It looks like it dips into sub 18fps. I don't know if I'd say I'd rather it not exist at all if that's how it is gonna run, but I would say I wouldn't have minded an even further downgrade of visuals if the game performed better. I also don't agree that "Wolfenstein fans" would think RPG mechanics in a series primarily about balls out murder of Nazis is a good thing. Imagine that scene at the beginning of the video but instead the main characters wandered into an area that the random quests inadvertently led them to where the enemies are much higher level. The bullet would just bounce off the head of that nazi instead of making it explode and it'd be real awkward.

@@WMan37 Youngblood isn't mainline either, it's a half-price spin-off. The game being different doesn't make it bad, as long as it does what it set out to do well, and Youngblood does it with good gunplay, nice level design and engaging progression. It's a co-op lootshooter spin-off of Wolfenstein, it's not the death of the franchise. Also the comment about the bullet bouncing off the soldier in the cut-scene is a huge reach. Literally every RPG has cutscenes that ignore the in-game mechanics.

@@arturbb Youngblood is pretty mainline, as it's a direct continuation of the story where you're supposed to go find BJ and he's older now. A different price tag and different protagonists don't change that, that's like saying AC2 through Revelations are not mainline assassin's creed games because Altair isn't the main character anymore, even though he's in revelations. Though, I do agree wholeheartedly with you when you say if the RPG mechanics were much better thought out and did what it set out to do well instead of taking the Far Cry New Dawn approach to RPG design, yeah I'm down for a little bit of a change, kinda like how Doom 2016 is a better reflection of Brutal Doom than Doom itself yet, I like that game and think it does a good job capturing the raw feel of how people remember doom while adding it's own unique charm, since the mod scene feels pretty much bigger than vanilla old school doom these days at least on PC.

I don't remember much, but I do remember enemies being very bulletspongy for my taste, reminding me of The Division, later levels get very repetitive, there’s no stealth sections like in The New Order, there’s no memorable villain like Strauss from The New Order, and Jess and Soph are too cringy and annoying for lack of a better word. Like, when I heard that we're going to play as children of BJ Blazkowics, I expected them to have the same personality traits of their father, well one of them at least. Not this. When I play Wolfenstein, I expected, well, Wolfenstein. Not Bill and Ted.

What is good about Wolf 2? The levels are all horrible. I played through it on uber difficulty and the only level that was fun was the after bj's head gets cut off and you fight through the court room. That was the only good part in the whole game.... the rest was a chore to get through. Not to mention all the sjw nonsence. It just shows where machine games heads at..... Constructive until the end. Never played Fallout 76. I do like Wolfenstein. And I've liked the gunplay and core gameplay in these newer titles which is no secret if you've seen the reviews. Furthermore, I've pointed out what we considered flaws in Youngblood. Bullet sponge enemies, repetitive gameplay, and lack of environmental diversity. Still enjoy the gunplay since it's basically unchanged.

I think a lot of people that have been hating New Coloussus and Youngblood have just been wanting a copy and paste of New Order/Old Blood. Hell the guy that does the rapid fire reviews for AngryJoe actually said that Youngblood could kill the series which is highly doubtful considering it's been made fairly clear that ZeniMax has DOOM: Eternal as the big money maker this year.

The game is getting bad reviews because of the Broken AI (Specially the friendly AI, it's really bad), BulletSpongy enemies, Forced coop actions, cringy characters, no interesting villain/plot, recycled levels, no Pause Button, shoehorned microtransactions and Invasive DRM. What about the first hotfix of the game, did it fixed any of these issues? No, it only removed the option to use Cheat Engine for Gold Bars... on a Single/2-Player game... Nice to know what Bethesda's priorities are.
