We did the "mounding" method 5 years ago when I bought large bags of daffodils from Sam's club without really having a space for them to go. We had just built our farmstand so I thought that would be as good a place as any but the soil was clay that had never been worked. We had loads of compost from previous chip drops so I put down fertilizer and we buried them. They grew marvelously!! I've spent this week digging and dividing them. Those 2 bags produced 6 five gallon bucketfuls of bulbs to replant. Woo-hoo!!

I know times have changed, but I sure saw it today. Back in my day, 80+ years ago, our parents gardened to save money on food and added flowers around the plot to encourage pollinators and pick a few to enjoy on the dining table. Now, about most everything, is to throw money at it. I realize that your operation there is now more than just an at home garden because not many have pallets of bagged compost to use freely. I hope there will be a day when you have horses that there will be a composting operation to go with it. Most of what could be used is thrown away now, except some that goes to the chickens or pigs, which is a good thing, and reminiscent of how it used to be. Get busy, Aaron, you have the machinery. Rodale books is an excellent source of knowledge on the subject. You have picked up a wealth of info on plants in just a short time, you can do it! Btw, the three bin system can be shortened to two and makes a batch much quicker with weekly turning.

Hi guys. You should look at Nicole from flower hill farm’s channel. (She’s in zone 4) She planted 10,000 tulips in 2 hours in a wide trench. The took a tractor and dug a trench about 4 feet wide by 6 inches deep and piled the soil on either side. Than she placed all her bulbs and raked the soil back over them. Seeing what she did and what you’re doing, I’m very interested to see how both your efforts work out next spring. Keep up the good work. You are inspiring!

But when I went to visit the grave, it didn’t look like it did and tulips or rather daffodils would’ve been a great idea. It’s a family cemetery of around 200, not a public cemetery, my great grandmother and grandfather were going to build a house on this land and then he passed away suddenly. So she started the cemetery…buried him on the corner stone where the house would’ve been built. It’s an neat history, but it is a distant from where I live.

Ok, so I go out to trim down 2 of my mums expecting it to go as efficiently as when Laura cuts hers. I even have have the same hand shears as she uses! But no, it took me longer then Laura trimming a large section of her flower bed! You are the Queen of gardening girl😂

Clearly Espoma supports them well as the normal gardener would be broke with using all that land and sea. Can’t wait to see the spring beauty!

I have wanted to do this since I saw Jenny Love do her tulips this way. She puts up decking boards along the side so that the compost stays in place. She's all about building the soil not disturbing the structure of the soil. Can't wait to see how this turns out for you.

It’s going to look beautiful!! I live in the PNW and go to see the tulip fields in La Conner each year as they are planted this way. A drone shot next early spring would be awesome too.
