Holy shit, is this fate giving me an ace into my hand? Seriously though, I needed this. If you're reading this, TJOP, I'm literally graduating from high school in two days. Yes, two days. And surprisingly, I have the exact mindset you want people to have from your video. Like..., I want to be a writer. A professional writer. A huge one, bigger than George Martin and J. K. Rowling. I've been working hard throughout the entire high school on my stories and book series that I'm writing, and it's been a hell-of-a-trip, if I may tell you. But then the naysayers came, tried to break my will. "You cannot live off from what writers earn these days." "It's a nice dream to have but you'll never be as good as these best authors, let alone surpass them..." "Do you wanna not complete University just because you wanna chase your dreams? You'll destroy your future, you'll have no job..." Hell, most of these things were my parents saying that. But you know what? Fuck it, fuck all of you naysayers, I'm bored of studying and learning absolutely pointless shit that I will never ever need to use in my entire life. God, I graduate in two days and I barely studied for it, but you know why? Because I believe in myself, and I believe that I will make it through with what I know, and the same I'm going to do with my dream. I'll attend a University, but I'll focus on polishing my art of writing, finishing my book series and publishing it the traditional way. When I'm ready, I'll drop out and I'm gonna "risk it for the biscuit" and go the hard way, because I wouldnt be able to live on a below-average salary for the rest of my god-damn miserable life. I wanna travel and see new countries, meet new people, and that's what I'm gonna do. THANK YOU for this video, TJOP. It's literally what I need because it describes exactly my window of opportunity that I have right fucking now, not in 5 years, not in 20 years, but now. And I'm gonna do it. Thank you for reminding me.

+theJourneyofPurpose TJOP (TheJourneyofPurpose) while watching this video I had a doubt. should I work all day or should I enjoy every single moment of my life????
@edmundoar1238 жыл бұрын
+vedvkrishna I havent commented on youtube in like 5 years but I felt inspired to say this. Do both. That is the whole point of this message. He is saying to do work you love. "work" that doesnt feel like work. The things you really actually want to do. It'll take a few years of roughing it out to be at a sustainable level income wise but thats why he says to do it in the 5 year window. There is not 'a work all my life' or 'enjoy myself' either or choice. Its both. do something that makes it worth it for you to rough it out. Something you would do if you were the last person on earty and there was no result you are chasing but the process itself is enough. Thats my opinion. Take it for what its worth to you. If it excites you, think about it. If it doesnt, then maybe the advice is for you. Whatever it is. Have a good life my friend.

I'm 22, my wife is pregnant with our first baby. I'm constantly grinding to try and create the life I've always wanted, the life he talks about in this window. I feel like I got married and had a family too fast and drastically shortened my window. there's nothing I can do about it now. it's much much harder to start that business or be risk oriented with a family at such a young age. be very aware of how lucky you are if it's just you or your roommate or whatever. I feel like I still have the chance to create an amazing life for myself and my family but it's going to be much harder, even though she's so supportive. I would have been the guy sleeping in the basement or whatever suffering for a chance at success but can't put baby through that, so think about all that stuff long and hard young grinders.. It's hard to make it on your own but in a lot of ways it's easier. ✌ Respect.

I'm currently saving for a solo motorbike road trip to every capitol city in Europe, starting from London. My parents disapprove, friends disapprove. Then, I wanna be a helicopter pilot. Takes years I know, but that is the goal. I've been gradually scaling up my challenges, not settling on anything for the last 2 years. I'll be 21 in late September, and never been so driven. As for exactly what comes after my travel, I don't know.
@MrCleowaite8 жыл бұрын
Carry that drive, that momentum, remember what it feels like, never let yourself forget or be distracted I traveled 6 months solo around south east Asia, Australia and Europe; as long as you've got that fire burning inside keep feeding it Im 21 now, them 6 months was a warm up.
@kieranmcmahon17458 жыл бұрын
MrCleowaite 3 months planning down the line, I still can't believe myself telling people who ask what I am planning to do. I was at work earlier tonight and it was quiet, so I was reading the paper and came across cheap flights and travel; I was SO tempted to spend a couple hundred on a long weekend, because travel is what lights my fire, but no, I remembered my plans for the future, and remembered I am playing the long game. And you, after your 6 months in 3 different continents, what comes next ?
@MrCleowaite8 жыл бұрын
+Kieran McMahon hey, initially i planned 1 month in Thailand. Then i thought whilst I'm here, might as well go Vietnam. Looked on the map one day, saw Australia and thought hey, thats pretty close, might as well go there I do not plan when i travel, i go to a place and just make it up as i go along, because you never know who you will meet Now i work, get my money back up, but not some shitty job no! I still do a job I'm passionate about, working with dogs and training them Your perspective will change so much by the end of the travel, so you cannot plan now what you will do after, don't worry just enjoy it you will figure something out after, trust yourself I actually met a Canadian guy in Berlin travelling Europe on his motorbike, was one of the happiest guys I've ever met!!

Yeah, and if you stick to this advice then maybe you'll figure out enough to know that life is not about making promises, or about having kids, or getting married... it's about being a bad ass all the way through, and never giving up on your dreams even when, as Gary says, the world tries to suck them from you. Keep dreaming, keep believing... Life is YOURS for the taking.

I'm 34 now, the 'baggage' part is true. But would I get this if I saw this message when I was 20 back then?... Probably not... you don't know what you've got till you've lost it. So for you who still have it, get to know people who have 'lost' it, hear their stories of how they can't just start the business of passion of their, how they can't just take the job that really means something for them, see the 'regret' people carries around... BTW, I'm not giving up, it's harder now for me than 10 years ago, I'll have to take risk... very calculated risk. Take this window to find out what you want. Try things and take risk. What do you really really really want? A secured job? Good salary? A known and certain path? Or a reason for you to wake up eager and passionate for what you are going to do that day, everyday?

My life is so stress-free now that I'm finished school. Have to say it was the worst years of my life and I'm not gonna sugar coat awful years and tell you that they were great and you should try and enjoy them, it's bullshit, what they told you is bullshit. Why do you think they wouldn't want to be your age again? Because life was shit at the age and still is. Have your dreams, build your future. Build the future you want to live in because that's what's so amazing about finally being an adult, it's the freedom it's the fact that there is no structure, no one watching over you egging you to do something you don't want to.

Your 20's are the most important time in your ADULT life for developing into an adult, but most people say they are happiest in their 50's and into retirement. Why? Because by then you actually have your life in order, kids are grown up, money isn't as much a problem anymore, people don't scare you anymore etc.

I disagree with this video and I'm not sure why. I think I would start by saying you don't have to be the best person in the world. I see so many video's online and links on Facebook talking about greatness and how we must all strive for it: We must learn always, we must invent cleverly, we must innovate in everything we do, we must inspire the next generation, we must make great profit and strive for a life of influence. Wow, that is a massive load to carry-I certain can't carry it, nor do I really want to or feel the need to. You see, you are a valid human being, you don't have to prove it, I know for the act of reading this comment, you are perfectly valid (and not only for that)What I dislike about this video is how it teases you; "LOOK AT HOW FUCKING MAGNIFICENT YOU CAN BE!" it yells. The point of it is that it's suppose to tease you and to drive you and I imagine it does. But I also think it makes people very upset and under fulfilled and discontent with themselves and their life; it's kinda a form of punishment, It makes you look towards what you don't have instead of what you do have/ what you are not instead of who you really are.

What's with the subtitles? There's a way to make them optional--please do so.

I love this but I really wish it didn't have curse words in it. It really takes away from it.

Hi there, I'm sorry that you're going through this. Have you tried talking to someone who is an expert? Sometimes even a couple of sessions with a psychiatrist can give them time to understand you and give you sound advice based on your specific issue. It wont go away over night but just talking about it with someone, having it understood and getting a different perspective can help. I wish you all the best, friend!
