a flex hose will cause a pressure drop and cause a whistle. increasing size will solve problem.

Didn't know Flex Hose can be used through the cabinet. Maybe code is different in the US than Canada. We get called out if there are anything but Iron going through the cabinet. No flex or copper allowed.

In different areas around here, codes are different. You can go from one county to the next and the codes are different

Hi there, I'm a KY plumber and have a job to give this customer more gas pressure for his new Rannai Tankless WH and future gas outlet for a 12Kw nat gas generator conversion. They now have a 1" main from the meter (7" w.c.) and 4 appliances totaling 185k btu usage (all with 3/4" drops) on a longest run of 40' to the furnace/water heater group (45/40k btu) in basement and 60/40 btu stove/dryer. The tankless will be a 12' further run using the close by 1" main to pipe from making longest run/branch 52' then. If tankless adds 199k to the load and 100k or 150k or ???k for his 18 HP generator he wants to get, that puts new load at maybe 535k (unsure about load calc. for 18 HP generator). Question is: Would increasing the 1" main in the basement to 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" help get me the extra btu's still from the same 1" meter or what can be done? ​@@TaddyDigest Hi Tad and thanks for your quick reply. I immediately sub'd to your YT channel and have started to binge watch your many videos back from the beginning. BTW, my daughter lives south of Nashville in Franklin, TN ..... do you service that area? Regarding my gas piping/low BTU job, would it be necessary to re pipe the 1" meter with a 1 x 1 1/4" elbow off the swivel outlet and about 3 more 1 1/4" elbows that are now 1" elbows to get into the basement where the long 1" lengths start OR can the BTU gain simply be achieved by just swapping out the 1" in the basement with the 1 1/4" pipe. I already have the local gas utility's published gas piping charts we need to use here, but thanks for the info offer. Thanks again, Bob R. in Louisville, KY.

Is there any signs that might tell you if the pressure is to high or low? Obviously if it’s to low we know the answer to that, but what if it’s to high? Also I’ve failed my cmc test twice now and now I’m just bummed out and don’t even want to study. I’m in Jackson Tn. Where are you?

I am about 45 minutes away from Jackson going towards Nashville You need to do the American contractors network course It will propel you into a passing score It's awesome I think I did a video on it and it's titled how to get your contractor's license you should check it out Don't get bummed out it's a hard test

High gas pressure would cause a higher temperature rise and you could see limit switch trip It can also cause the flame to blow out And trip the roll out switch

It's a sign that you know what you're doing and it's also a way for you to get the bigger jobs There are lots of bigger cities that are in need of mechanical permits and contractors who can pull them
