Water or any liquid can explode when heated. Burn centers recommend putting a wooden stick in a cup when heating. This allows the heated bubbles a path to escape instead of building pressure under the surface. Usually if your using an older cup the surface has irregularities so that works. More often you'll have this happen in newer cups.

@@amymaryon I will but I need to find one of those donut pans like you have first. 😊 For your daughter who is dairy intolerant, the company Tofutti makes a great non dairy cream cheese. You find it in the Jewish/Kosher section of grocery stores. Jewish people who keep kosher cant eat dairy with their meat so their dairy section is full of substitutes for those who would like cheese and other dairy products that arent dairy, so it can be eaten with or after eating meat. You can find good substitutes for cream cheese, sour cream, butter, etc... 😊

If you place a wooden spoon or popsicle stick in water it won’t explode!
@kathyk33363 жыл бұрын
Whenever you boil water in the microwave, it can create a layer that will build pressure and explode. It's super dangerous and even if it doesn't explode while the microwave is running, it can when you go to grab the container out and break that "seal" or layer on top of the water. I use a wooden chopstick whenever I boil water. Just stick it in the bowl, cup or measuring cup before you start your microwave. That will prevent the water from making a seal and possibly exploding. I'm sorry I cannot remember the scientific names or reasons why this happens! Worth a Google!
