11 years have passed and this is still one of the best short film ever made. What a MASTERPIECE. I remember being in high school when I first watched this. I didn't understood it that much back then but I kept coming back year after year and when I fully understood the message of the film, I cried. This is just so beautifully done. The message is powerful that even if I watched it so many times it still strikes the same.

I have watch this film also for several years and watch it again today. It brought tears to my eyes because I also hide who I was for 58 years. Lying to myself, but at the same time knowing. At 58 I meet the man of my dreams and we are married. We still live our private lives because we have jobs that deal with the public. My family knows and his many done support us but that OK we have each other.

I keep on coming back to this movie and re-watching it over and over. This movie is so intense. It is definitely something I will return to in the future to watch again. . It always gets to me when D says . ."I need you to say yes, I need you to tell me you understand" and when Crim says "Please don't leave me, please don't leave me". One man having to fight to keep his public persona even though it is at odds with his private life and the other person loving his partner but having to stand up for what he believes in even if it means the end of the relationship. Powerful story! Wish more gay films were like this.

I remember when this was first posted. I was just blown away by it. I still am. It's powerful. And the fact that it makes all its points in less than 15 minutes is astounding. Some actors are good - they're half-way convincing, but you don't maybe feel all the ache, the bitterness, the anxiety they're trying to portray. With these guys, you feel it ALL. Or, I do anyway. In other words, they're not acting, they totally become D and Crim. A lesson for us all, even straight people should see this. Gay life is often far from easy, and if you get through it with no pain, you're damned lucky.

OMG!!! Amazingly good! I believed both characters and the simple quiet of a home under tension, D's look of pity and sadness when he looked at the angry, uptight Crim. All he wanted from Crim was acceptance of his nature and to stop expressing his self hate in ways that would affect his kids. How many times have we had a fight with our partner, stormed off only to sit in the car, drive aimlessly and and wonder what the hell were we doing! Standing ovation here!

Last relationship that I had was similar with this. My ex was keep acting that he was a straight and ignoring all of the facts that he was gay. Same things, job, families and friends were the things that he had to create a boundaries from his sexuality. It wasn’t a toxic relationship yet it was very unhealthy relationship for my mental cause I was fully accepting for who I was and so proud of myself for being gay, but he wasn’t. It’s all over now...

I don’t believe they sorted out the problem but only delayed the inevitable breakup for a short time due to the deeply ‘walk in’ closeted businessman. He may not want to be associated with the more fem aspects of homosexuality but he sleeps with a guy for three years and thinks he’s Bi? The other guy should end it know and move on.

I lived a very closeted life while serving in the Navy, with 4 years with Marines. Most of us did our best to hide, even mask our sexuality. Sometimes that meant saying hateful, hurtful homophobic comments -- actions to go along with the words, too. This was pre "Don't ask, don't tell." It was painful on many levels. I hope things are better for our service men and women.

NO! The short DARE was ruined when it was made into a movie. Dare was so much better as a short film and it's sequel. The film version really sucked. I'd hate to see Triple Standard ruined like that.

Perhaps I'm harsh, but I have no sympathy for someone in the closet and yet abuses other out gay men all to cover up his own insecurities. I would probably be the first to out him to shut him up, and protect others from his abuse.

+Louis Riehm thats the reason y you'd get yo-a** beat. many have personal jobs that aren't as fitting/excepting as others. people r grown and let them be who-ever they wanna see themselves as... lmao
@MrLourie
@MrLourie 8 жыл бұрын
+musicmojo100 Your response is to ALLOW someone to be abusive towards another, all in the name of job security and personal insecurity. Let "grown" people be whoever they want, even if what they want is the reason for another's fears and tears. No! They're not very adult if they use their circumstance as an excuse to express their anger on innocence rather than those responsible. No one, for no reason whatsoever, has the right to inflict their own troubles upon another. And, absolutely yes, I would out anyone who abused me. I say this because it can very close to my doing so a few years back. I did not go through with it because I demanded an apology and I supported him as he cam out to family and friends. Contrary to what is most often depicted of gay men not being able to protect themselves, I can. And, though it was necessary only twice in my experience, I am the one who does the ass beating.

+Louis Riehm you do realize the world is a big place... Move da-hell on if you don't like what you see, hear, or getting in life. You gunna try and change someone else come on now. To put it bluntly: (u can't save no ho) I.E.- can't turn no 'ho' into a house wife. -_-

+musicmojo100 I'm not going to argue with you. You apparently are damaged in the way you understand things. Who says I "don't like what I see, hear, or getting in life"? I'm very happy. I not an abuser, someone you seem to want to defend. If the issue involves me, then of course I will handle as I see fit. "To put it bluntly", maybe you, yourself, are guilty of such acts.

+Louis Riehm Ohhh I thought you meant if you seen a situation like this lmao... Try and out someone who clearly made it clear that he wasn't out and yet he stayed... But you make it sound like the dude was abusing and using this dude, like D didn't know what a rim wanted from the get go! 😳

Classic gay short film. I remember this fondly. Good acting and food for thought as well. Handsome actors ;) I wonder if the character of Crim would really hold to his words...his mouth is like a loose cannon. He knows how lonely the world can be and he needs D more than anyone on his side.
