Threaded inserts for the through axle is a smart idea. Imagine damaging a standard threaded fork; that would require replacing the complete fork.

it's really nice coming frome a big brand, usually they tend to make you buy the whole and expensive part when only a little thing is damaged, just to make sure they earn even more money. Thumbs up for BMC, even if their bike is still very, very expensive

Beautiful bike for someone with a team contract. Am I the only one who thinks the RD hanger (5:58) looks like an achilles heel? Wouldn't want to crash it or even tip it over by accident on the drive side.

Baby Gerald that’s the point of a hanger though. Doesn’t look too flimsy though
@jimhansen53955 жыл бұрын
That hangar actually recesses the derailleur further under the cassette than a traditional hangar. The RD is less vulnerable this way. The Hangar is replaceable just like the old school.

@@eurobubble7068 yeah doesnt make sense to run an aero frame with 3.4 enve´s tbh
@MrJohnnyTN5 жыл бұрын
the general rule for aero is 105% so rim width is 27.5/25 (tubular usually run true) well that's 110%. If the tubular ran a little big lets say 26ish... well then perfect. It's also a backup training bike so 3.4s would probably be more comfortable then tooling around town in 5.6

Correct! These are RT-99’s. Generally a little more durable than DA-900 rotors. I suspect many teams will switch to the new XTR rotors when they are fully available, because they are even lighter than the DA’s.

Putting a electronics directly where it will be splashed with sweat, energy drink and road grit all day seems like a poor choice. Also, those cages are awful. Still, the rest of the bike is pretty sharp for an aero bike. Like any Pro Tour bike, this is an outrageously expensive build.

Di2 junction box: out of harm's way or perfectly placed to catch all the spilled sticky energy drink from your bottle? Although this bike looks fantastic, for me it's far too integrated. Great for a race team but I suspect a nightmare to live with long-term.

Fabulous bike but will not call that a good place where they hold the junction box.
@MrJohnnyTN5 жыл бұрын
why ? it is waterproof
@milescrowe21625 жыл бұрын
@@MrJohnnyTN Yeah waterproof claimed by shimano, but still you will open the little cap on it to charge the battery or just tweak the system, should always avoid any unnecessary fluid contact, remember you might put your energy drink here. And I have to say such a corner under bottle cage , like that can easily gather not just fluid but also dirt or etc, that's why the bottle cage bolts always get rusty first.
@milescrowe21625 жыл бұрын
@@MrJohnnyTN They take good moves on BMC SLR however, junction box on down-tube near the head-tube-thay call this DTI system-for DI2 , it's easy to clean , and ventilation is good.
@jochem19865 жыл бұрын
@@milescrowe2162 There is no space on the trailing edge of the down tube of the Timemachine Road to fit the junction box, it's too narrow. Other than that, we've been pressure washing bikes with this junction box for a few years now and never had a single issue with liquid ingress. So should you get some sticky stuff on your junction box, simply hose it down.
@milescrowe21625 жыл бұрын
@@jochem1986 I know it's far to narrow to fit a junction box on down tube, just saying , if I do have this bike , I would probably use tape to cover the cap of DI2 box. And speaking of the pressure washing , Pro Teams could tore those bikes daily and power washing do save massive of time so that is really not a problem to them, but for us who just love bike & riding, even GCN said avoid to do so.
