I know he isn’t allowed to race with the tool box beneath the bottle cages. But it looks like the bottle cage on the seat tube is moved down near the crank set. Is that a hack or a standard feature on the bike?
@jochem19863 жыл бұрын
It's a hack. The cutout in the bottle cage isn't designed to work with the front mech in this low position. Basically it only works if the front mech has a shape that will tolerate it. There is a bottle cage boss down there, but only to fix the tool box to.

Did you see all the extra real estate over a bike of 10 years ago, Harley?

The BMC Teammachine from Greg Van Avermaet was 7,4kg with rim brakes a few years ago so not that much heavier for an aero bike.

55-42 with 11-30 cassette. Is there anyone who knows how they make this work? I didn’t think that derailleur could handle that.
@traildoug4153 жыл бұрын
55-42 is less of a jump than 50-34 so no issue for the rear range wise when run with an 11-30. At worst it would require 2 extra links in the chain over a 53t ring depending on how close to the limit it was. There's usually plenty of room for adjustment left on the braze on mount for vertical when running a 53t front ring so I doubt 55t would be a problem, an oval 53 would probably need the same clearance. Even if it was it wouldn't be hard to print a custom mount. The 42-30 would give pretty much the same ratio as a 39-28 so no loss of bottom end but gaining and extra 3-4% up top.
@oraszuletik3 жыл бұрын
Well, on today's stage (8) it was not working 🙄
@mellnhead3 жыл бұрын
I have been playing around with the idea of having a 55/42 chainset at the ready for the 30mph tailwind days and KOM hunting. But I assumed that I would have to have an 11-23 cassette ready as well. But this is said to be running an 11-30. On a side note, it has big jockey wheels as well. I wonder if a chain length that we get out of the box is long enough for this set up.

I have a Trek Madone 5.1 with SRAM Red mech. groupset and Dura Ace C 24 wheelset clinchers, with bottlecage and pedals weight 6.7 kgs, I think the industry is hardcore, selling us heavy bikes like this just for pure stethics :/

7.75kg was without bottles I assume? Heard these bmc bikes are heavy
