GE Ultrafast Combo Won't Fill With Water: How to Troubleshoot & Access Valves

If you own the new GE Ultrafast 2-in-1 Combo Washer/Dryer, one situation you can get in is to where the machine won't fill with water. If that happens, there are a few things you can check, test, and replace by yourself. In this video, I show you a few common problems that can be the case, and then how to access the valves for replacement or viewing.

Do you know the minimum GPM for the hot water inlet? We have great pressure, but are looking for specs for possible on demand HWH for tjis model.

First time repair, 30min. Second time, 10min. Its not that hard. Just a lot of cable ties.

I just got this washer/dryer installed today and the tub won't spin. The timer counts down, water is filled but there is just no movement of the drum. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks for your videos!! Can you make a video about the drain pump and how to troubleshoot or replace? My GE pro combo is currently not draining. I do notice some lint coming out of the drain before it failed. ( I have it drain to my utility sink), which I've never seen from other washers before. I watched your videos and I will try your suggestions and will maintiain the lint more often and seal the filter as you suggested. But I feel the drain pump may be clogged with this lint. It's been less than a year of owning this so I'm hoping GE will fix under warranty.

I already have the video shot. I tore this apart fully, and replaced many things. Just never released them because the machine was/is so new, I figured no one needed the vids....yet...

Turns out drain motor wasn't clogged. I did drain using the bottom front cap. Still didn't drain or start a cycle. I went to the hidden menus and ran a test on the drain pump. I'm surprised it passed all test. Ran a quick cycle and finally, the drain pump worked. I'm not sure what fixed it, but it works normal now.

How would the machine not run properly if one side of the inlets is used ? Its in the manual on page 10 that it can be hooked up with a unicoupler

If you don’t mind, a question. There is the bottom drain/ filter that is to be cleaned every 40 cycles or so. In my personal testing- I can open this up after every load and get between 12-24 oz (about a standard solo cups’) worth of water out of it. If I drain it while pausing the dry cycle, the dry seems to be quicker, but that could just be me. Is it normal for there to be water there during each load?

I get the error code 8 sometimes as well. Not always but after waiting for the 4 minute lock timer to expire, I restart the wash cycle and then it works. Weird.

@@bensappliancesandjunk please. Drain pump just went on mine and I flushed and cleaned the drain filter bunch of times. Still won't drain. I accessed the sevice menu and activated the pump and it just clicks.

@@lag1791 I'm gonna work on one for the GFW series, I'll see if my editor can't do them both at the same time. Its identical on this & the GFW series in general. Question is if diagnosis is much different. I'd check for 120VAC going from board to pump if possible.

@@bensappliancesandjunk Thank you, Got the unit out. wasnt that hard. Had a big ol' tuff of hair/fur ball lodged in the impeller. I cleaned it up and going to test it out. Hopefully not burned up. If so it's about $70 for replacement. I wish the filter was a finer screen. At least with the new firmware update they have a new pet hair removal mod that runs a fluff cycle before wash dry. Hope that helps out all the dog, cat and wife hair.

How on earth does that make sense... Computers, phones, cars, they all have WAY more complex PCBs, and nobody is ever worried about them failing. Seriously, people need to stop worrying about things simply because they don't understand them. Nobody repairs anything themselves anymore anyway, so you don't need to understand it, and economically it's almost always better to have a part like that replaced instead of repaired, so not even a tech needs to really have a deep understanding.

I am thinking of buying this but I want it to be out longer to see how trouble prone it could be. I would never take tis apart as shown, I would want an extended warranty and know I could call on someone to fix it!

Hello, could you help me, I am a widow who does the repairs alone, I bought the combo but since I got it it says error code 8, the water works fine in my house. I put the clothes away, I go to work and when I come back my clothes are wet when it says error code 8 you can't open the door or continue with the cycle the screen freezes and I simply have to put it back to wash my clothes, electricity and water bill This month I got $450

Always take photos of assemblies before disassembling anything so that you can see how it all went back together. The electrical connectors should be idiot proof from plugging the wrong connector into the wrong place on the front panel board, but...there are he-man idiots out there who can for a square peg through a round hole...

I could've easily bought this all in one GE appliance in CASH for slightly less than these pair of commercial grade speedqueenz. But after watching this video. I have this unit, when I try to start a load everything seems fine, it senses the load but then instead of starting the wash cycle the machine powers down. Any idea's? It's new and has never run a load of laundry.
