I have a core value of "party", so I have to completely cut myself off so I can live healthy and lose weight. I am currently on week 7 of only carnivore. It's not a struggle until I "go off" and try to cheat. My entire life has been like this.

Please come back to the East Coast! When you were in NJ last year, I was home with my recently-graduated-from-the-NICU-preemie. Now she is healthy and robust and I can take her to comedy clubs and theaters where she isn't welcome, but her adorable little countenance will charm the doorman into letting us in!

This was really interesting! I especially like how you mentioned the community having a chance to mourn when there's a social identity change. I recently read "I, Julian" by Claire Gilbert (its a fictionalized memoir of Julian of Norwich, it was fascinating and really well-written) and when Julian finally enters the anchorhold (her little room adjacent to the church where she is literally closed in with bricks) there's a requiem Mass because the community needs to come together and recognize that even if her decision to be an anchorite was a beautiful gift, it involved a death of sorts.

You’re right that the topic will eventually touch your life, it came out of the blue in mine.

Same. Not only out of the blue for me but also in an awful way (social media vs. talking to me). Talk about being blindsided. I hope yours was a better situation!

This is suuuuuuuuuuch a good viewpoint on the trans issue. WOW- totally blew my mind. Such great points. How is this free? 😂 my sister is a Nashville Dominican, so I’m very familiar with the fact that it’s a 7 year process start to finish. Also, just for reference, postulants wear a modified version of a full habit. It’s like a long white blouse, a long white skirt, and a black vest. Not the most fashion forward but it gets the point across 😂

I was also in the path of totality. It was amazingly scary. My kids loved it too. And your take on transgender makes total sense.

So I’m a faithful listener on audio only but decided I ought to pay some attention to your KZbin channel. Now you have three subscribers! Glad to be here because your hair and makeup is so on point. I really, really appreciate your point of view on this issue. You articulated well what I’ve felt on the issue but had trouble putting into words. I think you walked the line between truth and charity well.

I definitely heard some noises! I went off added sugar and salt over a decade ago and now the thought of anything like pie or cake just makes me nauseous. The one time I CRAVED it and tried one of my favorite cakes, it tasted like cardboard. It baffles me how up-in-arms people get about name changes. I go "I changed my name when I got married" and their response is "that's different." I had never thought about the religious order aspect. GREAT argument.

Hi, first time watching one of your vids, I enjoyed it and like your respect to diversity while being Catholic. I might have some personal disagreement on the no social change thing until 18. I think that there are different kinds of social changes, and I don't think gender is quite the same as becoming a monk/nun. People are born genders, not as nuns. I might actually connect it to what you said earlier in the video in regards to faith, that Catholic families didn't want you to visit them. Do you think the same in terms of social change for a teenager that may have been brought up as aethiest, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu or Jewish, and believe that they are actually one of the other faiths? Would you say a 17 year old kid from a aethiest family shouldn't be allowed to attend a Catholic church? Not every trans social change is even going to be that extreme. Being non-binary myself I don't believe there would have been something extreme if I had some form of a social change as a teenager. Instead, I had a lot of self-hate for never feeling like myself, and took a long time to get started on a journey. You said teenagers are great, and I like that sentiment, but it can be tough for a teenager and even adults who never got to have that social puberty that is true to who they are.
