@kayd6572 Жыл бұрын
He didn't talk about Snail disease, he's talking about the "Toxoplasmose" that can be found in meat. And when it's raw or not entirely cooked, the parasite isn't killed on the post and is small enough to survive mastication and digestion. Most of the time it doesn't get serious but sometimes it can eventually move to the brain and change behaviour. Since we do consume a lot of theses products AND have access to medical healtcare it isn't as much as an issue that the show host might suggest.

Just as a response to your comment. New Caledonia vote to stay in. On an another note, "races" statistics are not official because its ban to collect informations on "races" in France. Moreover, most of the young French are not religious or serious about religion (they doesn't go to church, etc ...) but yes Frenchs are mainly catholic and the culture is 100% catholic. And for the DOM (from DOM TOM), they"re not attached to France. Its litteraly the same as the mainland, they are France. Good video by the way, it was fun. And sorry for my english.

New Caledonia voted to remain. Twice since that video, in fact, as they had a new opportunity to vote recently. Some part of that video are wrong btw. Like the insect eating part. Snails aren't even insect anyway ^^". "l'heure de l'apéro" has also nothing to do with napping lol. I don't really know anyone napping either outside of old peoples or children. Some stats clearly seems wrong and others have not really any official sources to back them up (or to contest them either). Oh, and for stuff like snails and frogs, usually, it's only a very specific set of regions that eat some regularly, while everywhere else they barely eat any (at best once a year for example during end of year festivities), if at all. That's why you'll see French peoples saying almost no one eat snails, depending of where they live. As for horses, I believe that this is a type of meat that is extremely rare in France to be eaten. Probably the rarest by far among the list of meat type he gave, there are other types of meat French eat regularly that weren't mentioned here that are way, way more frequent than that.
@kayd6572 Жыл бұрын
Hi, a slight addendum : Horse meat are still consumed but not mass produced. At a horses death, the corpse is sold to be eaten and consumed right away so it's more an opportunity kind of thing. Sometime your butcher will have some but most of the time he'll tell you to come back later. + It's not a meat that you can cook as easily any others. there is specific ways to eat it. More often, it is consumed as "Tartare" in Summers or Rare with mushroom and garlic during Winter. And because the meat becomes very chewy once you get to medium, you will never actually find sophisticated recipe with it. (Or at least of my knowledge of it.)

Correction of a French, horse butchers were closed in 1986, and it is a product that is not in all ordinary supermarkets, so to speak, horse meat has practically not been consumed in France for a long time, except perhaps by one or two old farmers here and there. The idea is that consuming horse meat today is akin to consuming a pet (to a lesser extent rabbit - 30% in 10 years), hence a recent controversy about the Findus brand which had marketed meat which was in fact partly horse, a huge controversy for the brand which suffered a big loss of its turnover because many people no longer took this brand and mainly their meat-based products. "It should be noted that horse meat has already been banned for several years in institutions, schools, hospitals, the army, and that numerous legislative measures aim for a general prohibition. Frog legs are less fashionable among young people and have hardly been sold since the late 90s. You can still find some frozen packets in supermarkets, it looks like poultry in appearance (white/pink muscle), but it's very small... However, snails are still consumed (less by young people obviously), mainly at Christmas by some families. These are farmed snails, and there is hardly any difference in their treatment/cleaning compared to whelks. However, I have never seen them on a family table, at uncles' or friends'... in my life so far. It's not a custom, it's probably still widely consumed, but by a certain category of people; however, you will find them on the menu of some brasseries. As for the mentioned poultry, it is not exclusively manufactured in France. Indeed, it is increasingly rare to find duck breast or foie gras directly from France; they often come from the EU, which also consumes these poultry products. As for cheese, that's true, but I would like to give a nod to the Netherlands, which is also a cheese country, and moreover, tulips, wooden shoes, windmills, bicycles... As for toxoplasmosis, it is not about simultaneous exposure, but about estimated exposure over a lifetime. Moreover, even though it is a benign disease, women are screened, and according to mandatory serological screening of pregnant women in France, the number of infections acquired during pregnancy is estimated at 2700 per year, so the person in the video probably likes to sensationalize because she talks nonsense about this subject, fortunately. The black population is indeed over 2%, French figures are manipulated by politics, you will see for yourself when you come. I have no opinion on the matter, but immigration is massive in France, the Muslim religion is very present, almost everything is halal now (free healthcare in France and various financial aids attract). As for Celtic history, we know it, we and the English, just as Americans must know that they originate from Europe and thus guess... :). Otherwise, the part about forbidden words made me burst out laughing, sorry, but this sentence is absurd, and it's completely the opposite, indeed, we officially integrate many words into the dictionary, whether it's young people's slang or English sometimes. Moreover, there is no other word to talk about the weekend, there is no synonym, everyone says "finally the weekend", "I am on weekend", "it's the weekend", well, there is no other word, my parents already said it at their birth (they are 70 years old) and I don't think there was another word to define these two days that define the weekend since they existed on the calendar... :D Moreover, a blog has always been a blog (as evidenced by Skyblog, the most popular French site in the early 2000s), and you will see "parking" written on all signs in France as well, in short, misinformation here ^^. Also for work, it's not 6 or 7 hours but indeed 7 hours, 35 hours being mandatory for a full week's salary. Retirement is at 64. This is very true for Japan and it has largely been influenced by the world of audiovisual in the 1980s where tons of famous mangas were broadcast on the main channel TF1 (Club Dorothée show) but not only this channel, among the 6 free channels that everyone had. There are also video games and later even TV shows (Takeshi's Castle, Ninja Warrior, Silent Library...). Japan is still very popular among the new generations, there is also a certain enthusiasm starting for South Korea.

Since most of our produce don't have garbage preservatives, we need to go get groceries a little more often. A fresh baguette or "tradition" is just delicious. It's funny, at least to me who married an American woman, to see other Americans react to "France". Kudos from Bordeaux ! P.S.: Yes, we do value our work / life balance. Take it the way you want, but that's not making French people less productive than any other. Quite often when we're going on our lunch break, it's a 1h30 break. Part because we enjoy having some time off work, but also part it's team building. And YES, sleep is paramount. You can't do good/efficient work if you're chronically exhausted.

Cheese is part of the traditional French meal: it comes after the main course (meat or fish, with vegetables) and before dessert (in fact, it is often "cheese or dessert"). Obviously, this "traditional meal" is not systematic, especially for young people who tend to eat in a more unstructured way, but as soon as they become parents, there is this thing very anchored in France which is education in taste and teach children to taste food that is not easily palatable to them (children especially like sweet things). Cheese is one of those foods that children do not necessarily appreciate spontaneously (the taste and smell of cheese are often strong), but that they learn to love through their parents' education. And once you get a taste for cheese, you can't live without it... There is another reason for the taste we may have for cheese depending on the region of the world. Naturally, the human race no longer digests milk (lactose) as adults. But long ago, a genetic mutation in northern European populations allowed adults in that region to digest lactose. So it depends on your genetic heritage: the more your genetic heritage is from northern Europe, the more you can digest (and therefore like) milk as an adult. If you're from more southern Europe, you can only digest (and enjoy) milk if it's fermented (in the form of cheese or yogurt). If you're from Africa or East Asia, chances are you don't enjoy milk and dairy products as an adult. Personally, I like cheese but I can't drink milk, I find it sickening. When I see adults in Northern Europe (including North America) drinking milk straight from the bottle, I always wonder how they manage to do it, but I can't.
