I was at the dollar store yesterday and noticed serveral very elderly people buying barely enough to get them through the end of the week. It made my heart sink thinking they maybe only have 10 to 20 dollars to spend on food. They are on a fixed income that won't increase. I've decided I'm going to start carrying 20 dollar bills or gift cards to give to people like that. I think we need to be mindful of our surroundings and neighbors and step in where ever we can help. And spam fried rice is the best. Grew up in spam

My husband's aunt back in the 40's was hungry and did not have any money for food. Her dad would bring her and her husband a bunch of green beans and she would cook them for dinner. That is all they had. When things got better she became the woman that had canned goods everywhere and 4 freezers full of meat and food. She grew a big garden, canned and froze all of it, had chickens and bartered and traded for other food. I asked her once "why so much Margie". She said "as long as I live no one I know or needs food will ever go hungry". No one, even if they did not need it, left her home without a box of food. That time in her life forged her character until she passed. She was an awesome woman. A lot of people have not been to that point yet but it is coming and they will not be prepared.

I just started pressure canning this year. No one taught me. It’s not something my mother or even grandmother did. After researching I jumped right it and it has become a hobby that is helping to sustain my family. There is nothing more beautiful than a pantry stocked with good food for my husband and children. I worked for a local grass fed farm a couple days out of the week over the spring and summer making raw butter and cheese and I worked for food. I filled my freezer with high quality local meats that I feel good about feeding my family. My garden is growing by 6 beds this year and I have baby number 3 due in May. I will also be homeschooling my twins as they are starting kindergarten this year. My family thinks I’m insane but I enjoy this lifestyle and I have very little stress. I live in the middle of no where and have so much peace in my heart. I wish for everyone to find this peace. God bless!

Thank you for your words of warning ! I wish I lived on a farm & had access to a garden & animals. But we can live on anything that's blessed !!!🙏🥰🙏

I learned this lesson yrs ago when husband was injured at work and our salary went from over $1,000.00 a week to workers comp which was $76 a wk. We lived off my food closet for over 6 wks. Husband couldn't believe we didn't have to buy anything but milk and bread. As a matter of fact, after returning to work he reminded me we needed to restock just in case and if on sale buy a case of the veggies we ate. I have filled more food baskets from my closet to help people I worked with when we were furloughed and they lost 2-3 days of salary a month through no fault of their own. And have yet to miss one can of anything.

That Covid pneumonia, knocked me out. Hospital 16 days. Been 6 weeks and still on oxygen. Glad I had premade freezer food and stocked up. You are spot on! Expiration dates don’t bother me😆

Best friends mother-in-law canned and preserving and gave so much to those in need. Oftened joked how great her garden was super even in years of severe drought when every one else lost all their crop. Told everyone that God took care of her garden because He knew her heart and that she would bless others with all that He gave her. Be blessed.

I was lucky enough to know my great grandmother well into my teenage years. She was bombed out of Brixton during the Second World War. She always had a canned and extremely well stocked pantry and freezer. She shared a lot of her home making with me. She called it her squirrel cupboard because she would squirrel the food. In the sideboard she had chocolate and sweets and biscuits. Everything was arranged in date order. When it was time for my home making, I decided that would just become my way of life. It has served me well and something I will continue. Wishing you all the best from Surrey England xx

Preach it sister Patara! I started prepping in 3/2020 when a bunch of crazy people thought that TP was the most important thing. I must have 6-9 months of food, medical, and cleaning supplies put back and developed a tight MAG. 5 different means to cook. This weekend my son and I are making big batches of cowboy candy and pickled carrots. Next weekend we’ll be making pickled eggs because of the upcoming chicken and egg shortage. Then the weekend after that we’ll make a bunch if pemmican and hard tack. Little extra each week will help dampen the blow when the store shelves are empty. It’s not paranoia, but peace of mind. Do all this AND find Jesus if you haven’t already and you will be fine.

When I heard a few days ago about the H5-N1 bird flu I immediately drove and grabbed up all the canned chicken I could find. I base my length of food supplies in my inventory by looking at the date of the oldest, my supply of canned chicken that is next to open has the best buy date of 2015, so that makes my chicken supply about 7 years. I hope everyone has their inventory up to date, I know it can get out of hand real quick. I start with my water and go down the line with salt/sugar/flour/ and so on. Fill in the gaps, I will usually do an inventory every month or so and get anything that I vacuum seal a good look through just in case some have a broken seal, then those go to the front of the line for consumption. Take care everyone. I hate to say it, but I truly believe this ride gets a bit bumpy and scary from here out.

Yes. Yes. 1000 times Yes!!!! From this California girl looking at her unprepared neighbors. My ancestors speak to me and through me just like you say. I've been compelled to prep like I've never felt in my life. Just told a friend today who's started buying dry goods and had no idea how to cook dry beans etc. I told her practice now.... and "burn it to learn it" like you said with bread. So much love to you. Keep it coming! ❤❤❤

My family is coming tomorrow for lunch. First time we've been together since Christmas. I've been talking to them about this...I'm hoping that when we talk tomorrow, I will learn they've heeded the warning. They know things aren't right in this world, so I'm praying they're doing what they need to do. I thank God for always providing, for His small voice that tells me to keep it up, and for your video's too Patera. My husband was sick for a year. He missed several weeks of work this year after having two surgeries. I can't tell you how Thankful I am for the things I stored. Saved me a lot of time, money, and aggravation, just having the extra's. His sickness showed me, we Never know what tomorrow is gonna bring. As long as I'm able, and God sees fit...I'll prepare for the things I can. God Bless you all.

You are so right. The unexpected can and will happen at anytime. My husband passed away in 2020 leaving me on my own. I injured my back in March of 2021, and I had to have surgery. I had planted a nice garden, but wasn’t able to do any canning or freezing. I had to get rid of my chickens, because I wasn’t physically able to care for them. I am doing better but still have to be very mindful of what I do. I may not be physically able to garden again this year, but it won’t stop me from continuing to prep. I am picking up a side of beef tomorrow, and I search on a regular basis for deals on canned goods, cleaning supplies and health and beauty items. Things are going to get worse before they get better folks.

Yesterday my new WonderWash came in ahead of schedule and my wringer should be here by Sunday! This will allow me to wash small loads of clothes and wring out before hanging to dry if power goes out! Hi Patara,I live in Canada and I certainly see the difference ! I'm a senior and get my money once a month so I generally stock up way too much. I have a great cold room in my basement but I find it hard getting up and down the stairs so I now have food everywhere. 2 fridges with freezers that are full. A large upright freezer in the basement is full. I just can't seem to stop shopping. I should only be buying milk, bread and eggs at this point. Like you said I can always pass it forward !

If you dont have enough time, energy, or help to grow a garden and harvest it and can it all up, dont feel defeated, just shop your local store sales. The money you saved by not gardening will buy a lot of canned food. Just do it. I listened to God, I was able to buy a 25 x 12 building before they lumber prices skyrockeyed, bought ammo and reloading equipment and meats to before it all went sky high.

I have been stocking up for the last 3 years. I grew up where everything was canned. And we could live from our pantry for many months. I’m 69 and this was one thing we were taught to do … be prepared. My Mammaw was a young mother in a coal mining town. Her young husband die with the flu and she had 6 babies and no heat and no food. My Dad was 10 and the oldest he dropped out of school and worked in the coal mine. They let him take home the small pieces of coal and that is how they lived. She said she knew they would be ok when the coal was coming in and they could heat and sell it. One of her babies starved to death. She never went hungry again and she never turned anyone away if they were hungry.

I had to come home and look what is in our pantry that I can have or make. Well it turned out that not all was bad. Yes I do have things that are going to have to go to the grandkids, it has to be done. Thanks for listening. God bless.

I totally agree with you! A couple of my own thoughts. In crisis those that “have” will be targets for those that don’t so maybe we shouldn’t be so vocal about the stored food we have or are planning to get. And it might be worthwhile to pay with cash so there is no record of your purchases that will lead “them” directly to you.

Bought another bag of dog food, 3 50# bags of chicken scratch, and more bedding for my chickie chickies! We already have a year's supply of chicken feed and people food but scratch and dog food are higher in fat so I buy about 4 months worth at a time and keep rotating! We don't keep our pantry staples on shelves, we put it all in 5 gallon buckets! If there is an emergency and you have to leave quickly, no one is going to pack up all of those canning jars of food! We live in a high fire zone so I thought it would be best to do it that way.

I have disabilities and do not have yard space for a garden. So I'm stalking up and also a local farm sent out cards and they are offering a cooperative this year that starts mid June and goes through late September. I locked into a price that I thought was reasonable considering all the price increases. I'll get a box of whatever is in season each week. So it'll be fresh vegetables each week and a variety. I've never seen program like that here before.

Oatmeal, fruit. Think of what you like. Mix it up. Have fun with it. Yes I live by myself. I eat out of a lot of cans. Oh don't forget salt, pepper, ect ....

Simple and easy plan to make a start for a pantry. It does give you a feeling of control…which we haven’t had in two years. When the first lock down hit, we didn’t leave our house to shop for 8 weeks. We had plenty of food and did not worry. Just a little bit each week will add up quickly and you will be proud that you have taken control in your life. Great video!

My hubby had a triple bypass surgery last May, it left me alone to tend the garden. Plus, taking care of him and the animals I had very little time for the garden. I was very thankful we had been stocking up our backup pantry for many years. This spring we now have 10 apple trees to plant we purchased them as bare roots in the fall. I bought a freeze dryer right before Christmas it’s been going every day but 2 since we’ve purchased it. I have some seeds planted in my sunroom for spring and have seeds ready to be planted when the time comes. Get food people! Get things that you may be needing a year from now. Like tires, windshield wipers, oil, grease. We all need to be prepared for a year or more. Prices will be going sky high before long. I will also be hatching out chicks and turkeys this spring. I know a lot of people will be needing eggs and meat. Also, have baby pigs coming soon to raise. Getting 5 of them and the neighbors and us will be sharing responsibilities and feed cost for them. They will be butchered in the fall. Get to know your neighbors people. We have a good little neighborhood out here in the country. People help people. Thank you Patera for raising the awareness of the current situation.

I have come to realize that my chicken coop and raised garden beds will eventually make my family a target by the unprepared. I feel my family is woefully unprepared for a prolonged scarcity event, but compared to every house on our block…we are the only ones with food resources.

Absolutely the best advice and encouragement! We don't know what might spill over from the north! We don't know what will happen if patriotic truckers from the states might r.in into the same treatment as our fellow canucks and what that game might entail! So people, prepare as if your life and that of your loved ones lives depend on it! Thank you, Patara for your words of wisdom!

Now is the time to stock up!!! My suggestion is 2 cans per day. That’s 14 cans per week. That’s about $7-$10! That’s 730 cans!! If you use one can a day, that would be 2 years worth!! Stock up as best you can as quickly as you can!! And get your taxes done Early!! If you’re getting a refund, that’s money you can use toward preps!!

Stumbled on your videos and I just love how informative they are. Most Americans have no clue the situation we are in and where we are headed. Thanks for the great videos and keep them coming. My wife and I have been talking about filling the pantry for down the road and we are going to step it up a notch. THANKS

All I can say is that I am thankful we bought store brand canned green beans last season. Our garden did not produce what it normally does last year. We now have green beans for a rainy day. Take care Patara, thanks for the great content.

I'm starting today. I made a HUGE decision to put my family and survival first. Tomorrow, I am going to do a little weekly shopping and adding some preps. Little at a time, no wasting, trying to figure out my garden this year.

Has anyone else found themselves suddenly "un-subscribed" from this channel AGAIN? It seems like my favorite prepper channels are disappearing and I have to go find them again. Luckily I watch your channel daily Patara, so I know how to find you. Nice video! But really, they all are! Bless you and your family, friend!

My cousin says her Walmart keeps telling her eggs for her weekly order are out of stock. I live in PA and I have not seen this. She lives in the midwest. Everyones area is different on what is available at any given time. Get what you can when you can
