Since i listened to your edima lecture the first time i have tilted my bed a few inches lower at rhe head. I also put two piillows under my feet elevating them about 6 to 8". I made an appointment for a massage but was stood up! The elevation, after three weeks has resulted in lowering my edima but i have cranps in my ancles and the calve muscles due to lack of hydration i guess! I am 83. I walked about a mile tonight but had to walk very slowly due to pain in my calves due to poor circulation.

drink more water and with electrolytes. magnesium will help also as well as hot/cold foot baths. epson salt as well. if u have any questions feel free to message me or respond to this comment. God bless you.

I use a High Absorption Magnesium made by ' Natrol ' for severe cramps. Hydration has nothing to do with my cramps. Go to your GP (Family Doctor) & get your bloodwork done to see what your Magnesium & Potassium levels are currently at ? Good idea to get a complete blood evaluation report to see what minerals your lacking because these can really upset your system! I'm 80 & like you I need to walk but your killing yourself by doing one mile in agony. I walk for 15 to 20 minutes 3 or 4 times a day & that does me a lot of good! Hope this helps! Cheers!

I've had swollen legs for 15 years & last Christmas I wound up in the hospital from November 5th 2023 thru Feb 21, 2024. I developed serious openings whereby water was leaking out because the skin was very thin. After having daily cleansing by the staff nurses the legs finally healed & I returned home. I currently go for short walks but fortunately I haven't had any repeat issues. I need to constantly take Magnesium, Potassium, & 120 mg of Furosemide twice daily to continually urinate in order to regulate my intake of water because my legs are like a Runaway Train. A few years ago I purchased an 18" foam riser in hopes that elevating my legs when I sleep will drain some of the water from my lower extremities, but sadly I've had no luck with that contrary to all the Information I've read. I use custom compression socks that are made specifically for my legs by a local Edema specialist. These help but my legs feel like they are on fire at times because they are not very comfortable if they are worn too long. Anyway, I'm thankful for some of the things I'm finding on KZbin to make my life more comfortable. At 80, any day above ground is a good day! So Cheers to all !
I suffered from edema . I wenrto an edema expert to help me design a pair of socks for me to contain the edema swelling I was told the sock would only cover my calf and extend to above my ankles. I feeel that the sockd should cover my ankles except pehaps for my toes, to fully constrict the fluid.. Can someone provide a comment on my post before I I go ahead with the design. Thank you.
