Getting my First TATTOO on my 50th Birthday!

On the day before I turned 50 I decided it was finally time to commerorate my Fastest Known Time (running speed record) on the 343 mile Sheltowee Trace Trail in Kenucky and Tennessee with a tattoo of the trail blaze (directional markings on trees). I took my cousin Harry and my buddy the Colonel for emotional support and some good laughs!

Hahaha the first thing Mister said was you need a haircut! I was actually raised in South Bend so we were over in Elkhart from time to time! Didn't know there was an RV Hall of Fame over there though. The only tattoo I think I would consider getting is a tattoo for my wedding ring! I couldn't lose it then! It looks great sir! Have you decided whether or not you are going to add the text around it yet?

Ha! Yeah, I am need of a haircut soon! I would like to get some text around the outside of the diamond..."FKT" on one corner and then the years and times on the other three corners. Thanks guys!

Hey Jason how are you? That's is an awesome Tattoo you got man. I want to get a tattoo of my Truck 🚛 & kayak but my wife want me to get a tattoo of my extremely wide feet 🦶 i have. I said Why? I told my wife you can get a tattoo of my feet 🦶 & i will get my tattoo of my Truck 🚛 & kayak. I didn't see anything wrong with your toenails especially your big toe. They was having fun making fun of you in front of her. Happy belated birthday to you buddy. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this.

@@jasonwish- that's awesome... if i get a tattoo, i'll go there, but it probably wont happen anytime soon. I'd need something as meaningful as this was for you, and as i haven't conquered all 3 FKTs, I don't feel I deserve a turtle blaze tattoo. Since you just got one, if i did that it would be like two women wearing the same dress to a party. I took a month to do it fully supported and my "tattoo" is the memories in my mind. On the other hand, I think I do deserve a sheltowee tattoo because it is the most deliberately difficult thing i've ever done. I would just feel bad because i'd get it done differently and I'd be the a$$hole who thinks it's better than yours because of whatever minor differences... also, you did it first, so i can't copy you or everyone will think i'm a copycat. so, I need to actually study the FKT website and find my own trail that I can make a trilogy. Maybe i can do it bicycling or kayaking or hiking. I don't know if those are all options, but those are the things that I do, and I'm sure there's a low-traveled trail that I can just "own" until people catch on.. but you have the Sheltowee.. that's yours, and probably gonna be for a long time! This is the kind of stuff that makes you an influential person and now i hope you aren't gonna influence my grown self to get a tattoo like some heathen who just tries to be cool.

@@deathclock9 I'm sure you'll find a great trail to try this on, and as far as the ST tattoo, if that is something that is meaningful to you I would go for it! I reached out to numerous ST thru hikers who had turtle tatoos with the diamond and I just used what I liked from each of theirs...they were all slightly different and so was mine. I still hope to add around the outside of mine, with FKT in on corner and my three dates/times on the other three corners. Anyways, you do you and whatever your comfortable with, I doubt anyone will judge you...I certainly won't!
