Now that the roof is patched, firewood is in, and the scaffold is assembled and shelves have been installed I can now get ready to install the ceiling in the shop.

They're joists not rafters and the pulldown ladders are sized for standard 16" or 24" centers. When it comes time to hang the drywall, I'd suggest investing in a Harbor Freight drywall lifter. I bought mine some years ago and still find uses for it every once in a while. It's a whole lot handier than trying to design props or trying to figuring out how to get the drywall on to scaffolding.

Hello Ken, I knew they were joists but it kept coming out rafter. Would you prefer an aluminum or wood ladder? Ill be using 2" foam for the sealing not drywall. Thank you very much for your input. It is much appreciated. Jere

​@@jerekirkpatrick2092 IIhave both aluminum and wood attic ladders. I like the Werner aluminum and it has gas strut counterbalances so they don't slam when raising them. Foam would never fly in my neck of the woods for fire codes. We have to use 5/8" drywall on ceilings and between the house and attached garage.
