I watched the whole series within 2 days. Obviously, the first couple of videos where ok'ish, but you improved more and more. I especially enjoyed the explanation of the different parts you replaced, which makes you unique. I own 2 BMW 330ix Touring, a 5 speed auto and a 6 speed manual, and in my opinion, the E46 is almost the perfect car. Looks very good, inside and outside, drives very well, is safe (4 star Euro ncap rating) and it's modern enough to drive it daily, yet the car doesn't have does annoying driving assistance crap which robes you from driving pleasure. You Sir show us, how to keep our Baby's safe and sound on the road by doing some work on our own. For that, you definitely have earned my subscription. We'll done and keep up the cool videos. I'm going purchase 1 of those engine support bars, considering I have 5 bmws this will truly help me in replacing a few oil pan gaskets as well. I really hope you find a e46 wagon as I have 2. Those are my favorite out of all the bmws made.

BTW just my opinion either polish your headlight lens or replace them. That would be icing on the cake.

@@tweedjohnny8740 one note on the bar, at maxed out width this one fits perfect on the e46, however, there are other body styles I believe are wider, so unless you’re interested in modifying or making it work if it’s too narrow, I would shop around for a wider option potentially 👍🏻

Shoutout to FCP Euro. Nothing but good experiences with them. I replaced the old/worn engine mounts, trans mounts, and driveshaft coupler in my E36. The difference is night and day.

Good progress on this one! I still like the E46 for how it handles, with bad CABs that is most probably a lot less? Must be so good to feel that it's back!

They still handle well but the front end just feels way more clunky with bad bushings. My favorite repair to increase drivability. It feels great

Great work again! The way you explain shows you really do not need a lift after all. I would love to buy that car but considering the distance to Sweden its not really the best of ideas. We need a pretty long bridge to start with.

Great informative E46 video. Definitely rewarding replacing those lollipop bushings. When I did the engine mounts I raised the engine looking back the way you used is the correct method and way less aggravating also! This is going to make someone a great daily driver ! Definitely appreciate the great content! Looking forward to more . That rear differential bushing is a slight pain , i didn’t do the front 2 small differential bushings I’m curious if those are a pain also ?

Hey Chad! were you able to get the engine high enough to weasel the mounts out> Ill probably order up the rear diff bushing today, the smaller ones are much less prone to tearing, but not too bad to replace. on a lift theyre really easy, never done em on the ground or without the proper diff bushing removal tool so we will see how that one goes. fingers crossed my bearing tool can get the job done.

@@DayOffDIY yes sir with the same harbor frieght engine bar and a jack and softer under the oil pan , but it wasn’t necessarily ideal and was maxed out on engine height. As far as the rear differential bushing got it from fcp also and used a Amazon bearing kit and it worked just fine just time consuming on the ground without a lift like you mentioned. I didn’t use and impact when removing and installing it just so could slowly make sure it was going in straight. Made a world of difference no more clunk in reverse.

Alec, the steering angle sensor is on the bottom of the steering shaft in the car. Are you sure you weren't talking about the headlight vertical aim control sensor when you said it needed disconnected on the drinkers side of the car?

Youre correct! meant to say the headlight level sensor. Definitely not the steering angle sensor, as ive replaced those before and they are not the same lol

Brothaa FCP all the way!! They have a dope floor display if you ever hit the East coast/CT definitely check it out. I did my 10 piece front suspension but skipped right over the mounts, I’m shot for that 😂😭 Good stuff though my man, definitely made way quicker work then me hahaha. Hope those tacos hit!!

Enjoying this flip. Would love to find a cheap one like that to flip. That engine brace is choice. But if you’re really on a budget, a floor jack and plank of wood under the oil pan works well. Mine were both split in 2 on my 330ci - had zero issues other than at autocross I lost ac cuz it pulled the harness out of compressor. Found when I was doing my catless headers.

Only need one jack. Put the car on ramps or jackstands. Undo engine mount bolts. Jack and block of wood under oil pan and lift the engine up. Plenty of clearance to get the mounts out. No need to touch the subframe.

Yup plenty of room. I don’t remember if I had the right mount removed - I was doing the headers at same time. But I know left mount I had plenty of room.

Is supporting the engine with the frame then dropping the subframe preferable to lifting the engine with the support mount without having to drop the subframe?

In my opinion its too difficult to raise the engine high enough to remove the engine mounts without dropping down the subframe. Theres not enough room to get the studs to clear and squeeze out the mount

i did! I actually pulled the whole trans, replaced the torque converter, did a complete service w new filter n flush, replaced flex disc, trans mounts, center support bearing... everything lol. its in a later video :)
