Getting Rid of Our Grand Design RV! 👋🏼

Our Grand Design Solitude fifth wheel was sold! However, the new owners had some supply chain issues and didn't receive their hitch in time, and we needed to get it out of the campground, so we delivered it to them. It was nice to have one last trip with Nessie as we got to say our final goodbyes and get a few reminders as to why we made the right decision to downsize.

I think it was bitter sweet letting her go. You had some remarkable journeys and memories. We're dragging ours around Alaska right now. A definite beast for this kind of trip but love the comfort. So far one microwave turntable, one cracked windsheild and 2 broken caliper brackets. IS has been performing great otherwise. Good luck and we look forward to your new adventures.

Our Freedom Express is named “Skylar” because when laying in our bed, we can look right up at the sky! 23’ and queen bed, and under 5,000#. Can get in anywhere! Best of luck on your new rv!

When my husband and I were driving hotshot, I always had to look for places that would work for our rig. I had a list of questions that I would always ask while looking for hotels. Btw we feel that the traffic in Atlanta is as bad as the traffic around Washington DC. We go out of our way to avoid both cities.

I was strolling through KZbin and saw y’all were back!!!! I’m starting to catch up on your videos. I’m glad you guys stopped at a rest stop and didn’t go to the bathroom in the camper. I bought my first travel trailer a couple years ago and the black tank was full. Didn’t check it (my mistake) until I set it up at the campsite for the first time. I was swearing and gaging at The Bud (the camper.. Triple Bunk U-Dinette….hence the name). Can’t wait to see how what your next chapter is going to be like.

Just watched this video of you driving Nessie(?) to Atlanta. I'm guessing the new owners have seen plenty of red mud in their days. Finished the video and started searching for your next video. Wow. This is the first video that I have watched since you came back online and I'm surprised to see that you sold the Solitude. I remember meeting you in June 2018 at Circle M campground near Lancaster, PA. We were taking our new 375-RES on its second time out when I spotted yours and set up near it. Jason came over and introduced himself as I was setting up. A few days later, we all sat around a campfire sharing a few beers and swapping stories. If I remember correctly, Jason and I discovered that we both had a CISSP certification for work. (Is that correct?) Cheryl and I sold our house in August 2018 and have been full time in our Solitude ever since. We will probably follow your lead in a few more years. BTW, I have a reservation at Circle M in about 2 weeks. I'll have to try to get the same site for old time's sake.

My Class C is named Ollie. When I purchased it the cab over reminded me of a beluga whale, and my father said the same thing when I sent him a picture. I had recently been to a french bulldog dog show with my rescue where I met an amazing rescue with hydrocephalus, which made his forehead large and I had commented that he reminded me of a beluga. His name was Ollie. And so my rig is Ollie.

Sandra WestleyUK, you couldn’t have anything so large in the uk the roads are just not big enough to take 5th wheels that size, we used to travel all over Europe for over 40 years, and there camp sites are so small, about 12’ by 12’ with trees all round, and we had to down size from a double axle to a single axle having got into some very hairy places, and completely stuck on a few occasions, so I know where your coming from. Hope you find you ideal, it’s different for everyone.

I never understood the whole concept of traveling or camping if you're going to haul a massive cumbersome trailer behind you everywhere.. seems like it would be about traveling and freedom not bringing a full on 3 bed 2 bath with you... My RV is named Nomad. It's a 78 Nomad. BIG Trek reference here - Nomad was a space probe that got destroyed, but was rebuilt with advanced technology. My Nomad was an RV that was destroyed (only the metal and the trailer bed were salvageable) and rebuilt incorporating advanced technology (I'm an engineer, so the tech bling going in is INSANE). Hopefully, MY Nomad won't then go around exterminating all life it finds like the one in Star Trek did. I'm using the image of the probe from Star Trek to make mission patches and logos for the RV. It's really just a big inside joke.

I can identify with your copilot stress: it seems like Waze always decides to save us a minute by taking us through a cornfield right when we’re in the middle of a strange place with traffic everywhere, and it reroutes us before I have a chance to stop it or figure out where we should go 😳
