I haven’t seen any of your other videos and ran across this one today. Nice to see the honest info on the RV problems and experience. It’s also a good reminder to hear how working on the road isn’t a vacation. We all need downtime to truly relax, reflect, and reenergize. And especially as married couples, time to truly connect with our spouses.

The last 2 years changed the rules of engagement for everything, I made a 180 degrees change on my life too left corporate life, started an RV technician business, I'm older so have a home base has been always important to me for many reasons, but after the last 2 years and all the problems with the campgrounds and Covid looks like have a home base became a trend for many full timers. You both are smart and very good communicators, and I understand the difference between love what your are doing or get sour about it, enjoy your new route and " welcome to Florida"

Good to see you two. We like Orlando also. We've been in our RV for over a year and have decided that we want a home base again. Put a contract on a house in SC. Most of our things are in storage, but, still have to buy some furniture. It's been fun looking for new furniture. Best of luck to you two.

I am sorry to hear all the trials and tribulations you went through. I'm a nurse who sold everything and went out on the road and I am about done seeing what I wanted to and have to go back to a profession I no longer want to be in. I am presently in the midwest heading south and there are so many little details that need to be worked out and it is so stressful and yes "analysis paralysis" has set in. I am going to drive around the badlands today, clear the head a little and start moving forward. Glad you guys figured it out and shared with us, it has helped me! Thanks

When I was first married (years ago), we had a custom 12Ft camper. It was used when we bought it (not to old), and we fixed it to our liking/tastes. We towed a 68 Jeep CJ5 behind it. Took our sons all over. We loved it. But eventually grew out of it. I think you’ll find a new way to experience getting away. Hoping you enjoy your new camper as much as we all did. I’m still working, but we spend periods where we are away for weeks. So for us now the 5th wheel is great. We do see where there will be a time we look back to a smaller rig. Maybe a super C or maybe that camper. Enjoy life and each other. Happy travels to you both.

So glad to see y’all are still around! It is truly frustrating to not have support from a company like GD. We owned one after having a Montana then went back to a Montana and we are kinda getting the same run around with Keystone. So none of them are 100% reliable. Just have to learn how to repair what’s broke ourselves if at all possible. Can’t wait to see the next chapter of your adventures!

Glad to see you back. Love the authenticity and can totally relate to everything you both said. The truck camper was a bit of a surprise but I get it. I also think about how being in a larger 5th wheel impacts where you can go and the experiences you can have. Recently, I have been looking at Oliver, Cassita and a few others like that as they seem like they can go anywhere and would be easy to live totally off grid in. Thanks for sharing.....

The pandemic had a weird sort of impact on all of us. Just goes to show the world is all in it together. Thanks for the update. People and things come and go, assumed you'd just moved on with your lives. Don't change your intro, as soon as it played my whole body was flooded with feelings of the past like I went back in time. So fun, look forward to seeing the new rig. Thanks for confirming my fears of large commercial travel trailers.

Happy to see you back on KZbin and sharing your story! Casey and I found you guys when we were first interested in RVing full time. We ALWAYS found your videos helpful. Seems like you put in a lot of work to promote Grand Design and didn’t get the credit you deserved. It’s okay you took a break. Nothing is more important than taking care of yourself. ❤ We stopped RVing after 1.5 years of traveling for Casey’s job. Since his job dictated where we went, we never felt like we could enjoy the areas we traveled to. Now, we have a home base. Along with a much smaller RV that we also can jump in and go when we want. It’s the perfect balance we never knew we wanted. Take care guys!

Great video, thanks for your candor. Cannot wait to see your truck camper! We are fulltime in a fifth wheel, and want a 2nd home(truck camper) to explore the places that a Dually and almost 40 foot fifth wheel cannot fit. Having a home base with room to swap houses, do maintenance, decompress, and get life stuff(doctors, dentists, veterinary, etc) tended to is how we are evolving as well. Great plan, cannot wait to continue to see your story unfold. Safe travels.

I’m so happy for you two. Bless you for making the tough decisions you had to make. We missed you and it will be a treat to watch videos when you put one out. I get your news letters. We love the Orlando area too. My husband is working at LazyDays so we’re close to Tampa until March 2023. We’re full time, but I still work full time remotely and Ron got bored and took this job with LazyDays so he had things to do while I was working Monday-Friday. We explore on the weekends. I retire at the end of September this year, but we leased a spot for our 5th wheel through March 2023. We’re going to get back on the road then. We’re both aching to get back out there, but this time when we do go, we won’t be tied down and can roam as we please. We’ve been full time going on three years now. I totally get your need to take a break. We have a Thousand Trails Membership and normally spend time going from park to park during the winters. I love your plan to get a place where you can call home base. Very cool!! I wish you the best and that you receive many blessings going forward.

First, great to see you back on YT. Second, wow, that is a lot of life events/happenings over the past 1.5 years. As a sub I will say you owe me nothing. Neither do any other channel owners I subscribe to. Do this for you. Do it in a manner that works for you. Your fans will be here no matter what you decide. Myself included. Maybe we will see you out on the road some day. Enjoy life, enjoy the journey.

We have a Solitude 310 and we've been talking for several months about getting a truck camper so we could go to more out of the way places that we can't get the 5th wheel into. Can't wait to see the renovation.

Open Letter to Getaway Couple Hello - I am a KZbin viewer, and this is written from that limited perspective. I just watched this video about what’s been going on with you the past year. Definitely have compassion and understanding for the events you two have gone through. Good to see you back. For the past several years that I have been avidly watching KZbin Full-Time RV content, it was only in the past year that I caught up with your channel. It was the video by Mortons on the Move regarding your solar set up (I was installing nearly the exact setup myself) that caught my eye, and then I watched many of your other videos after that. As a viewer, I seek out videos about real people leading FT RV lives. Even more interesting to me than the exploration stuff (it becomes repetitive as I’m sure you know) is the RV stuff, the travel days, the challenges and the upgrade projects. I write this to you because I thought it might be useful to you. But I also write it to other RV KZbin influencers, because I see some patterns common to all of you, so I also admit that agenda as well. I realize I do not have the same perspective as one of your avid followers, but I have similar experiences with other influencers I have followed, many of whom are no longer around to listen or do not respond to questions sent to them, or who have become very popular and didn’t install an apparatus to manage that. I can only imagine how disappearing all of a sudden must have felt for your 67K subscribers. I realize you say your newsletter explained this, but I want to just say, and I do so respectfully, you guys let your viewership down by just dipping out with no explanation on KZbin itself. I also realize that life and health situations like what you went through have an unfolding process in and of themselves, and you may not have immediately known you were going to be gone so long, but I think there is a possibility your justified angst at the events occurring with GD and the other KZbinr inadvertently came out sideways through your abrupt absence, affecting your viewers. To be clear, no one can blame you for needing to take a step back and kudos for taking care of yourselves, but hopefully you will communicate if and when you need to do that again. KZbin and other platforms have provided the ability for regular people who work hard to become semi-famous. That’s a really cool thing, mostly because other regular people like me can more easily connect with you because you are real. But I firmly believe that with that comes a responsibility to communicate and hold your viewers and supporters above all else. It isn’t about money, we all know that KZbin gets most of that. But the platform does provide the exposure needed to gather your other revenue streams, so I think it is the central connection that must be nurtured. I believe it is essential that influencers not forget where they came from. As I watch various content across the platform, I notice that the more popular ones have become somewhat cliquey and namedroppy, and sometimes seem to be a bit more interested in each other than they are in their subscribers. Speaking for myself as a viewer, it feels exclusive. This letter is not designed to lecture and certainly not shame you. I hope it comes across in the way it was intended - as well intentioned honest feedback from an important source, a viewer. I think you guys are great, and enjoy watching your life story unfold. I hope this has been helpful. I will give you a break for quitting FT RV’ing! I understand permanent FT is not for everyone, and further that I am weird and fully intend to be found dead of natural causes at a boondocking spot in my RV. But that’s just me. Curt

Hi Curt! Thank you for your well-thought-out feedback. We understand where you are coming from, and we appreciate you understanding where we were coming from as well. As our mental health continued to decline, and I (Rae) wouldn't even get out of bed on some days, updating our YT community on that went on the back burner. We do feel awful for going MIA since we did not think it was going to be this long. This is why we opened this video with an apology to our audience, which truly came from the heart. Navigating the world of being a content creator is quite the journey in itself. Of course, I don't think we handled it to the best of our abilities, and if we ever decide another break is needed, we will be sure to communicate that. We do also get what you are saying about some creators becoming cliquey. That could be a whole conversation around a campfire with a few beers lol. Thanks again for your comment!

Sandra WestleyUK they only did what they should have done, if the rig had problems it looks really bad for Sales so you’d think they would be glad to get the repairs done express to look good. We have had caravans since 1978 we bought our first brand new one, we have never, I repeat never, had an outfit that had any of these faults, we’ve had a few things that needed adjustment on the yearly warranty services, our vans have anything from a 3 years to a 10 years warranty, where all repairs are covered, and we’ve had loads of different caravans in that time. Which is as it should be.

Wow, it’s great seeing you on KZbin again! People’s priorities change all the time, so don’t feel you have to expose everything in your life. Pick and choose what you want to discuss. You two are young, and having the security of a bricks-and-mortar home base is really a great idea…you can always pick up and take off and know you have a place to go to to hang out. WHAT YEAR WAS YOUR FIFTH-WHEEL? It just seems, especially with a high quality Grand Design, that too many things went horribly wrong with yours…roof issues, flooring/steps separation, etc. That shouldn’t have happened on an RV under eight or ten years old! Anyway, I can’t wait to see your future adventures, and thanks for this “explanation video!”

When I was 38 years old, I woke up one morning and realized I was miserable with my life. All the dreams and aspirations I thought I'd been working for over the previous 2 decades were further away from achieving that they had been before I started. I called in sick (well?) to work for 3 days in a row and when I finally went back, I walked into my boss's office and quit my job. I've always said the only difference between a rut and a groove is your point of view, and overnite my point of view changed 180 degrees. I had a glorious 2 years on the road before deciding to go back to school and start a new career, then spent 2 years in school. That was almost 30 years ago now and while many of my dreams have still not been achieved, I feel pretty confident they will be and that I am back in a groove again. It's been a long, hard climb, but to be in a life I enjoy is a reward in and of itself. All of which is to say, I SO get where you are coming from and how very easy it is to not realize you are sliding backwards down that slippery slope you actually thought you were struggling to climb, until you suddenly realize you are right back where you started from. Really, really glad to see you both back and smiling.

When I began subscribing to RV-related KZbin channels so I could do a deep dive into the necessary research, I quickly realized I'd need to keep the list relatively short (like, six) or risk being overwhelmed with information. Today's video is why y'all made the cut - honest, down-to-earth, and as always, I learned something. It's great to see you back and in a good, healthy place in your lives. I'm looking forward to seeing new videos, although I'm now a bit nervous about wanting a TC instead of a TT (which we haven't even received yet). Thank you!

God bless both of you, my wife and I also own a GD. We retired in 2018 and decided to go full-time RVing, sold or house in NV. Came to Quartzsite Az stayed at an RV Park for 2 years. And then covid hit. We made the decision then that paying rent in an RV Park didn't makes sense so we bought a co-op in Quartzsite. We are working on our lot and hopefully when this covid thing settles down we will be able to start traveling but at least we have a safe place to land. You two did what was right for you and that's all that matters. Chad and Tara just did the same thing. Don't give up on your dreams.
