One of the first tasks you want to do in 3ds Max is to move, rotate and scale your objects. I show you how you can do that quickly and/or precisely.

I was wondering how to copy an object to a direction with a specific distance like in AutoCAD and SketchUp? And thanks for the videos, very helpful.

That is quite simple. I thought I was showing that. Select the object(s), chose Edit / Clone and create 1 copy without moving it first. The selection is now not on the original object anymore but on the copy. Now move/rotate/scale the copy whatever distance you like with the type-in transform window. (Right click on the move icon)

I like your tutorials very much. In minute 15 you tell to avoid scaling for a good reason, I did not used Max for about 10 years and now I am watching your tutorials, to recall all the functions. I am a Blender user for 15 years. My question is - In Blender you can apply the scale or rotation or translation with Ctrl A. So the Box will then show the original size of 20,20,20 if you scaled it by 200% for example and not 10,10,10 with 200% scale. Is this function also available in 3dsMax?

Hi! There is a modifier called "xform" you might want to check that out. When applied, it resets the scale value. When you then transform it into an editable mesh (right click and choose transform...) the scale is 100% again.

can we make like 10 copies but all of them with the same distance between each other?
@AFTutorials
@AFTutorials Жыл бұрын
Sure! I am oldfashioned, I would make the first cooy by hand with the right distance and use shift and move plus object snap for the other copies. But there is also the „array“ function for that 😂

Whenever I move objects they always move SO SO slowly. This does not happen with scale or rotate as those follow the speed of my mouse. I can only get my object to move 100mm even moving the mouse from one side of my screen to the other its so unbelievably annoying. Please please get back to me!!!
@AFTutorials
@AFTutorials 2 жыл бұрын
I have no idea why this could be. Are you using the same units that I am recommending? are the objects to scale? or extremely large or small? Try to move objects only in TOP View and make sure, that the object snap (S) is not turned on. If all that doesn't work try to move it by typing in in the type in transform window (right click on move) good luck
