I have been crocheting for almost 50 years. Learned sitting at my mom’s feet. She was right handed and I am left handed. Watching her from that angle taught me the left handed way. From your explanation, I fall between Intermediate and Advanced. I still struggle with some patterns. Let’s face it, some are poorly written and some I come across have errors. I can change yarn anywhere within a pattern, but I have serious ADHD and find it annoying! I have made all kinds of things except adult sweaters, so after I finish my last project for my first grandchild (who is due in 2.5 months), I am going to make my first sweater. With the exception of some scarves, I have never made myself anything. So glad I found your channel!

It has been over 30 years of learning and creating with this beautiful craft for the second time. I crocheted and knitted when I was in HS. Too busy at that time to take it seriously. Picked crocheting backup after I quit smoking in my early 30's. It was time to learn how to make doilies, my passion. After that I started making baby afghans and so on. I consider myself between an intermediate and an advanced crocheter. Making clothes has never interested me, so I am not well-versed in that area. In the future, I want to learn how to crochet working with more colors than I currently use in a pattern to upgrade my colorwork skills. Crocheting is a great passion of mine and has made me very happy to see what I can create. It amazes me. Plus, I love to give away many of the afghans and dishcloths I make to various people and organizations where items are needed. It makes me very happy to crochet for others as well. I hope to hand down many crocheted items to my children, their children, someday their children, and so on. This is a very satisfying thought for me. Happy Crocheting to everyone, no matter how many years you have been crocheting or what level you are; find your happy, calming space and crochet away!!!!

I learned to crochet as a young child but stopped for a while, now I have been crocheting for about 2 years and just found out that I am an advanced crocheter! Yay! That feels great. I do prefer intermediate projects because I love a good mindless project, however I also love free handing pieces and creating new patterns with intricate designs! Thank you for this video, it made me feel so confident and proud of how far I’ve come in such a short time.

HI Tiffany. I started crocheting during the Pandemic when we were locked down. (I did crochet as a child but didn't remember anything except for making a chain). I watched alot of videos, and also took some zoom classes. I think i'm somewhere between an easy and intermediate crocheter. I just love to crochet and 'make memories" for myself and others. Thanks for the info!

Well,...I've only been crocheting for just over a year now (self taught and many thanks to Tiffany here!)...I would say I'm an "easy" level with a pinky toe into the "intermediate" level--I've done projects with bobbles/shells/fpdc/bpdc in combinations, but that's about it. I can read a written pattern (easy ones) but learning the diagram is taking a little bit longer. I have go back to the legend to remember the symbol of hdc, dc, etc. One day I would love to learn how to make my own patterns, do more advanced projects.

This is really interesting. I'm an advanced beginner/ easy pattern person. Bought a pattern that's classified as advanced beginner but on your scale it's actually intermediate. I'm comfortable with shells but some of the other parts.... mind blown! Hoping to work up to it but feel a long way away from it at the moment. The pattern is complex and every row is a different stitch type and colour. I'm putting the pattern in the intermediate section now!
@eevesjunkyard2 жыл бұрын
I would definitely say I’m definitely an intermediate crocheter and am making my way to advanced, but because of my adhd reading patterns can be so hard for me. Basic patterns are okay, but sometimes the slightly more complex patterns take me several hours to figure out one row and by that point I’m so flustered I want to set my work on fire. The more parenthesis I see in a pattern the more stressed I get lol. I’m pretty comfortable where I’m at and learn so much easier with a visual aid than with abbreviations stretched across a page. I do love to try new stitches out and incorporate them into things I’m making though! KZbin has definitely helped me advance my skills the past few years compared to getting upset at myself for not understanding patterns.

I have considered myself a beginner intermediate! Just to throw a wrench into the whole deal! I'm self taught, and have been doing crochet on and off for 30 years! Once I found diagrams, things became easier for me! Reading an advanced pattern makes me insane! Even some intermediate patterns just make me crazy trying to figure it out! More often I crochet by the seat of my pants....I've made doggy sweaters by measuring the animal and working with those measurements. When I find a pattern that I just can't seem to follow, usually I will attempt to make a diagram of the pattern, and see if I can work it out that way! Other than doggy sweaters, I have yet to make a wearable (outside of hats, leg warmers, that sort of thing)! I've watched a lot of KZbin videos lately, and many of the wearables I've seen look very easy to make! I've probably learned more the last few months watching others crochet on KZbin than I had learned in the previous 30 years!

That's Awesome Amy! Sounds like you have that intuition thing naturally! The pattern part is hard because you can do everything without however if you were ever to want to write your own patterns or make something that you are not quite sure how to figure out on your own then being able to read a pattern would be important. But if you're good doing your own thing the most important thing is to just have fun! 😊🧶🧡

Thanks for this knowledge with how I am doing, what gets me is I will do so much for a long while and start feeling more confident in myself and then something that should be easy enough for me comes along and I just can’t do it, for example the BOD CAL I have done all the squares without issue including carrying the yarn so not to have so many ends and then the Abby square I just can’t get the puff stitches to work with my other DC in the square it gets all wonky and out of shape! I then keep trying over and over and after 6 tries I am about to give up and just make it different but it bothers me because it looks like everyone else got it you know what I mean. So then I lose some confidence in myself and usually go back to easier projects again.
@CrochetWithTiffany2 жыл бұрын
I totally get what you mean Karen! That has happened to me too when I was trying to follow a pattern but for some reason it just was not turning out. In those cases I would say one project or even 5 projects going wonky and not being able to get it right doesn’t mean you aren’t qualified to be in a certain crochet level. If you’ve got an idea how to do the things in that level then I think you’re fine. You’ve got this! If that granny square doesn’t work for you, just do something else. 😊🧶❤️
@ninajowkar3871 Жыл бұрын
I would rate myself intermediate to advanced crocheter. Not that I do lots of shaped projects or amigurumis. They are not my cup of tea. But I’ve crocheted a shawl with lots of texture by only reading the diagram. Sometimes they are easier to understand than written patterns. However I don’t believe you necessarily have to make all sorts types of project to become that level. There are lace work, filet crochet, colorwork such as mosaic and interlocking crochet. As well as, tunisian crochet that really can upgrade your skills.
@CrochetWithTiffany Жыл бұрын
That is very true. I suppose you are correct. You do not need to have mastered all of the things on the list to technically be that level. But if the pattern calls for that skill level and one of those things are on it that you may not know how to do I would hope the person wouldn't get discouraged at struggling with it. 😊❤️🧶

Hmm, depends on what stitches you like to play with in your free form. Are you working those basic stitches having fun combining those in projects or do you like the intermediate stitches? And when you free form are you taking into consideration all that is needed for those stitches? You could be flirting with an Advanced level intuition. 😊❤️🧶
