Ghost Max 2 vs Glycerin Max…let’s compare. And I need your help!!

First off, great video. I bought the Glyderin Max as well and have found myself underwhelmed as well. I found myself wondering if it was just me or if maybe I had not put enough miles in them to get a full feel of them. I am pretty sure they are going back. Definitely, a different experience when you are paying for the shoes yourself. As for the Shokz I have had the a few OpenRun Pros. I have found that while they have lasted longer they have died just before the warranty expires which bought me replacements which lasted about the same. I have definitely been conflicted as I really enjoy them. And on some level the expectations for consumer electronics is so low these days that getting a couple years out of them is better than the average. Keep up the great content!

Glad the algorithm showed me your channel. I have watched so many shoe channels and once they get free shoes they become more of an advertisement rather than an honest review. Obviously if they want to keep getting free products they wouldn’t bash the brand but rather promote.

Appreciate the honesty, Jared! I wasn’t planning to rush into buying the Glycerin Max and now I don’t see myself buying it. Just got the Skyward X (which is heavy in itself) - I totally get the perspective of over-consumerism. These shoes are all starting to blend together! Nothing’s really standing out from the pack so maybe it’s time to pick a brand and get some brand loyalty/biases towards them. Brooks was always that first running shoe brand for me but was coined the “boring” shoe - but nobody complains about a Toyota when it comes to their quality, albeit boring, they’re reliable!

I agree with you on heavy shoes. I recently tried a pair of regular Brooks Glycerin 21s and Just felt that they altered my gait and made me shuffle more (granted, I have chicken legs). I sent them back to Brooks and bought a pair of Hoka Mach 6s for a daily trainer to go with my Brooks Hyperion Max 2s (which I currently use for most everything). Can't wait to see your Mach x2 review. I put it on my feet the other day at the Hoka store and they felt good, although I did have a bit of heel slippage so didn't buy them yet. Maybe to replace my HM2s when they are done.

The Hoka Mach 6 is the most underrated shoe out there IMO, actually wearing it today for my 8 miler. If the Mach X2’s are as good as the Mach 6 I’ll be very pleased!

I have the ghost 2, and thought maybe I missed out on the glycerin max.., having recently purchased the super blast 2. I could not bring myself to buy another 200 dollar shoe. after watching this video, I think I made the right choice.., the glycerin would be redundant for my running and training purposes. I couldn’t use it as a “budget” race shoe, like I can with the super blast 2. keep up the good work.

I saw all these amazing reviews about the glycerin max and went to the store today to get them. Ended up getting the asics Glideride max. I really really didn’t like the glycerin max and I wonder how come all the big channels here have this shoe such a good review. I guess I should stick to smaller channels, like yours. By the way, I also didn’t like the superblast 2 but I do love the Mach 6.

Thanks for subscribing! It is a Ritfit brand rack, got it from Amazon. It’s not professional grade by no means but plenty sturdy for what I need. The weak point are the bolts, I replaced those with better ones. If I had to do it over again I wouldn’t get the rack with the two cables because they’re almost too close to do crossovers and sometimes it’s cumbersome to get everything the way you need it without having a cable in the way.

My first brooks shoe is hyperion max 2 - absolutely love the ride of that shoe... and must say i like how it looks - which is not the case with brooks in general.... Then though maybe gonna get another brooks and replace my nimbus for recovery which i dont really like that much... Eyeballed ghost max 2 - but with full honesty - they ugly af - not happening Then though glycerine max its worth checking.... $200 usd i can pay for awsome shoe - and it looks ok - not usual brooks ugliness, not great but ok - tried in store on treadmill and i dont see any awsomness in it - as you said overpriced big heavy recovery shoe nothing special Worth to mention that glycerin max in Australia is priced at $350aud - for perspective shoes its competes against - superblast is $320, puma mag max $280 There is zero justification to pay this much for average recovery shoe. I think my venture into brooks will end on hyperion line 😅

cool channel, enjoyed the review. question. i’m a community pharmacist who stands 12 hrs a day, pretty much in the same spot. i do some movement, but mostly just standing, adjusting myself etc, in a little 4ft by 4ft “station.” what shoe would you recommend for me? i discovered brooks ghost a couple years ago and it was a game changer. had basically just been doing middle of the road nikes or new balance before. i’m 38, btw. 6 ft 1, about 180.

Thank you for watching! If you enjoyed thevBrooks Ghost, I think you would enjoy the Ghost max (either version) even more because it has a lower drop and more forefoot cushioning. Also the New Balance More, Asics Nimbus, & Hoka Clifton are comfortable “daily wear” shoes. I hope this helps!

It is comfortable for the easy, slow long runs, but if thats what you’re looking for I would save $$ and go with the Ghost Max 2 or save even more and get the original Ghost Max on clearance. Thanks for watching, hope the video helped!

I appreciate the honest opinion. Too bad the shoe didn't work for you but everyone is a little different. I was part of the small minority who didn't get along with the Superblast. As someone who really likes the Adizero SL2, I'm really interested in the EVO SL and I'm not buying anything until I see some independent reviews of that. Good luck with your channel.

I have put on a lot of weight recently. So I'm looking for running shoes that are easy on my knees. The Glycerin Max looks good. I like the look, but I've heard that the cushioning isn't as soft as I thought it would be. I do daily runs of about 5K where I don't care about the time. Can you recommend this heavier shoe?

I’ll be honest, it wasn’t nearly as soft as I thought it would be with that amount of cushion. I have found the Novablast 4, the Hoka Mach 6, New Balance More, and On Cloudmonster 2 quite comfy. Let me know what you decide, and be sure to buy somewhere with a good return policy!

I'm a heavier guy too, 5'7" 200 lbs. Have you looked at the Saucony Hurricane 24? Good combination of solid support, stability, and cushion.

@@MLHunt I live in Korea and Endorphin Speed is a popular running shoe in Korea. I've never heard of the Hurricane 24, does it have as good cushioning as More v5? There are both Saucony and New Balance stores in my area, I'll try them both, thanks.

​​​@@WES-pt2ho I haven't experienced the More, the 1080, or any of the current NB shoes, but from what I gather they are softer than the Hurricane. One thing about the Hurricane I like are that it uses 2 layers of foam, a soft layer closest to the foot and a firmer layer at the bottom. So it gives you some squish and bounce when your foot lands but also feels relatively firm at the max load point. It's quite a high stack and it's also quite wide at both the ball of the foot and at the heel, so it's very stable feeling. And the midfoot is flat and has no cutout at all, giving it a very solid feeling as well. For all that midsole volume it's not excessively heavy. It is my most comfortable shoe, and I run in Hoka Clifton 9, Asics NB4, Adizero SL2. I definitely think it's worth a look particularly for heavier guys. Good luck! 😊
