Totally enjoyable. I suppose it would be pretty easy to spot an Essex ghost - that Trumpian orange glow and gleaming white teeth. As for Spider and his funny walk, after 14 pints I'm surprised he could walk at all!!! Thanks for a very enjoyable 50 minutes. It's this time of year I am glad that in 1790 a bloke by the name of Thomas Francis (born in Warwick) received stolen bills of exchange. Christmas - mangoes, stone fruits in season (nectarines, peaches, cherries) some lobster and some glasses of Prosecco (because cheap(ish) champagne gives me gout. A sign of breeding? Because the good stuff does not.🤣🤣🤣 ) All the best of the season to you Nicola and Mr GC. Also Tommy Tigeroon and the little dog (whose name escapes me)

Wow love these stories started with the Brighton one to start with as Brighton is essentially my second home I could walk it blindfolded but yeah Abergavenny has always been a harbour for restlessness and power ever since the tales of Bloody Alice Of Abergavenny so it's no surprise that ghost stories now permeate the area.

Now, I only watched this for one reason, Rufford Abbey. I walk Rufford every night and I mean every night with my dog, a border collie called Pip. We’ve been doing this walk for 15 years and I’ve been visiting Rufford for over 20. To set my stall out I am a man of science, an atheist and do not believe in ghosts but I have had a few spooky experiences down there. Mainly one when I was walking through the woodland at night with pip and I looked up to see a white apparition, almost like a mobile wisp of mist or fog gliding alongside me but further off. Then it disappeared. I’ve only ever seen it once. I have had chills near the house. Like I’m being watched but my route tends to stay away from the main house now. Ironically there are a series of animal graves in the woods and an ice house and these are some of the most comforting places to be and are near where I feed some of the local wildlife putting out food on bird feeders and foxes and the foxes often follow us round as a result. Saville doesn’t bother me but the monks always spooked me a bit. It’s a beautiful place that I know so well.

To me, it's not surprising a lot of old houses buildings and abbeys are perhaps haunted, if one considers the amount of people passing through the doors during the lifetime of buildings 300/400, 500 even 1000 years old.. Still fascinating..
