Mike, you talked about the height of the Happy River. I too could not find the specific height, but we do know it could not have exceeded 106.5 feet above the water. Salties can't exceed this because that is the maximum height limit on the St Lawrence Seaway.

😂😂😂😂 Onion Rings! This Happy River really impressed me ! I’m glad it wasn’t raining much harder because it would’ve prevented me from recording the vessel. My camera was drenched after the video. I watched the playback and thought that be raindrops would be all over the lens, making it difficult to see, but that wasn’t the case. I plan on live-streaming today, possibly the PRT coming in tonight.

Philip, with the rain coming down I had to do a lot of multitasking during this video. Hey Paul. The term 'Seawaymax' refers to vessels which are the maximum size that can fit through the canal locks of the St. Lawrence Seaway. No doubt the Happy River must be close to the max height limit of 116.5 feet above the water line.

If you start watching at 8:32 and then freeze at 8:49 and look carefully at the arm of the crane, you'll see the notation 'SWL 400t / 18 mtr'. This means there is a safe working load of 400 tons at an 18 meter radius. That is pretty impressive in my book! Both cranes have the same specs noted on their arms.

Sorry I missed the live Mike. Happy R-Type Happy River, Happy Rover, Happy Ranger The Happy R-type is a versatile heavy lift carrier. Equipped with strong, 400 mt SWL Huisman cranes, they can handle units up to 800 mt in a tandem lift. A large, unobstructed hold allows long units to be stowed under deck. The lower hold and tweendeck height can be adjusted in 50 cm steps, from 3.45 m to 8.90 m. Without the tweendeck fitted, units with an overall height of 11.70 m can be stowed under deck. Tweendeck and upper deck strength can be increased by the positioning of pillars underneath the hatches. This allows for large, concentrated loads to be placed on deck.

@johanvandersandt8904 a lot of people have brought up the fact that this ship looks top-heavy. If it’s carrying huge cargo on the ocean, it would look that way, but I guess that’s not the case?

@@vibewithmike Thankfully naval engineers design these ships with incredible tolerances and stresses in mind so my fear is completely unfounded. (I hope! 😆) You are right. When loaded it would not make much of a difference but when unloaded I am asuming they flood a ballast or something to balance out the superstructure and the cranes. Perhaps they even use the linear force of the crane to make sure it doesnt flip over. 🤷‍♂

FUN FACT.. Called the grand old lady of the fleet, Happy Buccaneer has been going strong since its introduction into BigLift Shipping’s fleet in 1984. The vessel has a combined lifting capacity of 1400 mt, and stability that enables it to utilise its full crane capacity in outreach and lifting height. Correct. That triggers the process. Trees get less direct sunlight in the Fall, and the chlorophyll in the leaves then breaks down. But the best colors are produced when the weather is dry, sunny and cool. Places that are cloudy, damp or warm won’t see the same degree of changing color.

It could happen within the next few weeks I’m guessing. Last year, snow is on the ground already. Ships in the snow will make good videos.
