I never thought I would get emotional about a TV series ending but this wasn't just any TV series. This is a sad day for me and I don't know what the future holds for NCIS but the show has lost more than a character. If the idea is to lessen the role of Gibbs than this was a perfect heartfelt moment. Let's face it he is burnt out and the events of the past seasons or two lead to this. Ellie & Jack left, Ziva is alive etc after 20+ years all of that has to get to him. I think that the producers are giving Mark Harmon an opportunity to still be part of NCIS, which he wants, but this way he can cut back . His character like Ducky will still there & will probably appear more often. The decision could have been to have Gibbs KIA or do what Ziva did but in this way he can still be there. The one line I hope that is mentioned is that somehow Sloan and the orphned gitls were able to leave Afganistan safely. One more point this is one of the few times that Gibbs allowed himself an emotional moment between himself and the other team members. I think that after he was suspended he began to de -compress. Beating up the dog killer was not only a reaction to that horrible crime but a release of his pent up rage ,anger & supression of emotions that had been building up over the years. Similar to a volcano the pressures erupt.

A series can survive with one or two leaving, but a whole list of beloved characters is a death nail to a series. Just ask the show runners for the Walking Dead. When Ziva left I was miffed....when Tony left I was beyond saddened. When Abby and then Ducky left I had one foot out the door. Gibbs is the last straw. I might give McGee the benefit of the doubt for half a season then I'm probably out. It's not the same

Idk why they wanna keep the show going like this. Why not have Gibbs leaving in a big series finale, whith a big goodbye party and everyone alive coming back to celebrate and hug and end the cicle?
