What is ignorant is thinking that men and women have an equal playing field and ignoring the sexism problem we have in America. All this commercial is doing is pointing out that men can and should help to fix the problem.

It shows a long stream of men doing garbage things, shows a few men doing normal average decent things while the narrator says, "....to say the right thing. To act the right way. SOME already are, in ways big and small. But SOME is not enough..." if the people who say the ad doesn't demonize the majority of men they do not understand what the word, 'some' means in the context of this ad. What is wrong with the commercial?
@13708023 жыл бұрын
@@pepe-roni1702 I'm a week late, but in gilette's commercial, most of the men are bystanders, which is not true. Most men do break up playground fights and try to stop bullying. Also, all of the men that are vilified are white, while most of the ones cast in a good light are men of color, so it specifically targets white men. On top of that, the shot of news anchors talking starts with the anchor for The Young Turks, which is the worst news source of all time. On a more personal level, most of the people I've seen involved in raising a child are women. Most pediatricians are women, most elementary school teachers are women, and most babysitters are women. If toxic masculinity is being taught to boys from a young age, it would from the people they interact with the most, which are women. Perhaps it could also be that they have few male role models, which would be due to men having difficulty succeeding in the fields I just mentioned. The whole commercial just completely hit the wrong target. I don't know who you are, and you are allowed to have your opinion, but you should research more into these issues if you care about them. And there are sexist and gendered structures at play - we need to do actual study and be conscious enough so we will arrive at the best solutions to real life situations. Kneejerk emotions are not super supportive in my opinion but data often offers things that our unconscious bias would pass. At least in Finland it's been noted - through research - that men are actually generally given more lenient standards when it comes to what passes as good enough parenting in the courts.

However, sadly, it often reflects the amount of effort the parents put into the children when they were together. Are you sure that is equal over there between fathers and mothers? AND there are the exceptions to the trend (be it fair or not), like my friend, and this person you mention. Since this ad, until now, besides the mail order brands of razors, Gillette has out sold every razor company in mens and womens razors, by quite a large margin I might add, and are still one of Procter and Gamble's most profitable divisions.
