You know the whole "the first 1 felt like a kid made his own smash bros game, and the 2nd is like and adult actually tried" is probably more true than you think. It also helps that smash flash 2 was in development for over a decade at this point, I remember back when they were still using an edited version of the mario world sprite for mario, and still tried to put OCs in the game. Thankfully he had the epiphany and took them out again.

@@sus4644 and some aspects like the recreated Melee menus and Characters that were used... still kinda amaze me to this day... well maybe more for the recreated menus... but man... the gameplay is so... dated today. The controls are nothing like Smash and the stages are bland as heck. Plus it's unfair most of the times due to the floaty physics... and who the hell is the red Hedgehog named Blade? If I wanted Blade in a Smash Fan Game... I'd pick the Marvel character. Always bet on Black!

Oh, I see you found the Lock Legion. They were a weird spin on the Clock Crew, which are basically a group of folks that did troll animations, communicating via speakonia. It was a weird time for Newgrounds.

The characters in the Fight for Glorton game are members from the Lock Legion, which was a group on NewGrounds. They were more or less a parody on the Clock Crew, which was another group on NewGrounds.

Their plan succeeds, but I wish they'd do that for real. A 3 person collaboration between Gilly, Caddy, and Johnny. He never gets the curse removed, even though most of the series was about trying to get the curse removed, and trying to get married to some lady, which also never happens.

Even then they are 4 characters on the Flash 2 roster. The others are all actual Smash fighters or some very wished and wanted characters.

God, it's been so long since I last played Smash Flash, I used to play it just for the sake of unlocking Mewtwo (which was honestly much easier than unlocking him in Melee). And god damn, it's much worse than I remembered it. Regardless, wonderful vid as always. Also, hearing your complaint about the Spyro Reignited Trilogy causing motion sickness again, I have to ask - Did the "Active" camera option serve any better for you, or did it not make much of a difference?

Smash flash 2 plays better than rivals of aether? come on man i know you're being baised but at least explain why you feel that way.Heck i'd go as far as to say it's completely unfair to compare rivals with smash given the parry mechanic and how getting back to a stage works.The game is incredibly solid and plays way better than a game like brawlout and doesn't have the nauseating camera that smash flash 2 has.Rivals is fast,has fluid animation,and is very similar to melee if you want to make comparisons.

I'm not gonna hate on flash games; despite their usually poor quality, they can be entertaining, and sometimes even good (hey there Smash Flash 2). However, with flash RPGs, I'm reminded of how Gilly said to not use Scratch. Every flash RPG I see covered is usually just one s@#$#y fight before it's over, and they're often split into multiple parts, each one a separate "game". That crap is asinine. If you're gonna make a flash RPG, make a flash RPG. And like Scratch and its limited engine, if flash or Newgrounds or whatever can't handle a full unbroken RPG, then maybe don't make RPGs in flash. Not saying the RPG Maker fan games I've seen are good, but I'll take them over the flash stuff.

For me personally Super Smash Flash 2 dropped in gameplay quality dramatically after 0.8 hit. Sure it fixed the potential Goku infinite ki blasts problem and I think also nerfed the shit out of Tails previously overpowered as fuck Final Smash simply because it lasted way too damn long but the overall weight of the game became really fucking heavy and I still feel that way about its gameplay to this day. Every once and awhile I still play the 0.7 downloaded version and I still personally prefer its lighter combat over the heavier combat introduced later.

Is it weird to say Clock Day was the crap I was most disappointed in? Like, it's a terrible and stupid concept to begin with, but that terrible and stupid concept can be made funny. Have whoever you click on win in a hilarious way instead of just "other guy dies", and have more match-ups than just Link and DK. It'd still be garbage, but it'd at least be the kind of garbage that might make you laugh for a bit. Clearly the creator couldn't even put in that much effort. And trust me, he didn't need to put in that much effort to make this funny.

Super Smash Flash was one of my most favorite free online games as a kid, used to play the shit out of it even if the controls were bad. The game was also my introduction to the Super Smash Bros series. (As bad as that sounds..) Never knew the game had a far better sequel though! I also played a bit of The Fight For Glorton too.

The caveman in that last game is from another old PC platformer called Prehistorik. I only know this because I bought the Interplay bundle on GOG a couple years ago since my PC broke and the only other one available to me was really really bad.
