Hi Becky , I am in the process of building a two person Bush craft shelter for my wife Brenda . My wife had mentioned watching your channel as well as Survival Lily's channel and how she would love to spend a night or two with me in the woods , now that our 7 sons are all in their 30s and no longer live at home we have time to enjoy some peace and quiet together. Lol. I will attempt to make a video series of the build and our time together at the shelter to share on KZbin, thank you for inspiring my wife to do this with me . Best regards from Lloyd way over here in Ontario Canada.

Ah amazing, hope Brenda likes the shelter! Wow 7 sons, bet that was a handful. Yes that would be interesting to watch, it is also nice for memories for you to look back on. Take care Lloyd :)

@@GirlOutdoors Thank you for watching and commenting, yes 7 sons was a handful but at the same time it was a lot of great experiences and memories. Raising them helped in keeping me in good shape and I'm still the same weight as I was as a teenager. Lol. I'll be 60 next summer . Once again best regards from Lloyd way across the pond .

@@GirlOutdoors Hi, KZbin gave me a suggest to watch you so I tuned in! Cool stuff! I did make a joke earlier on with the word "teepee" that hopefully you won't mind & will get a chuckle out of. I also mentioned an area that, if you find yourself in the Western MA. area, you should check out for maybe an overnighter. Not sure what's allowed for bushcraft building but you could probably get away with a debri shelter, a hammock or tent set up. This's out in Royalston MA. which's about 30 to 40 minutes from Orange MA. center. If any of the locale seems familiar, Stephen King filmed his Netflix series "Castle Rock"up there about 2 or so years ago. If you have a kayak or canoe, you can pull up on the 7 islands out there & explore. I gave some jokey names to some because of various things either seen, or that happened when I was dating a woman who got me into kayaking & we went there a bunch of times. One I put as a thing when you started cooking around 6:11 so, if you see this, BE CAREFUL @ the top of the tallest peaked island due to biting ants. Before you get there, if you follow RTE. 2 East, you'll go into Erving MA.& You have a State Forset up there with a beautiful lake called Laurel Lake. That's pay per camping but not expensive. Not sure what's going on with the place due to CV, but a cool place if they re open. Another one past Lake Tulley is Lake Dennison which has pay per camping. The lake o er there is sort of overgrown with Lily pads in one area towards the road going past it a bit, but the rest is pretty clear. There's other places I could suggest but I don't want to make this a novel. Again, cool stuff & I learn a lot from watching folks like you make things from natural resources.

I had to interrupt the video to tell you how this is like meditation to me, watching you light a fire, setting up shelter ect. especially with the slow camera moves. It seems like today all films and videos are so fast paced and hectic. I can really feel how calming and soothing it must be to just spend even one day and night like this. And may I say how brave you are at your age and as a woman to sleep alone in a wood? I am twice your age and wish I´ll muster up the courage to do this even one time in my life! Keep doing what you do!

It's a ton of work you are doing right now, and during the autumn, you will be feeling quite at home in your teepee. But by mid winter, you will be feeling rather cramped, especially if the weather keeps you inside. But you are only young once, so enjoy building Beckyville!

I really like the way you cover your tasks, you never seem to harbor on one I.e. Fire lighting, bundle of twigs, lighter, 🔥. No messing. Same with the steak. Cooking on the coals, on the plate (looked great by the way) gone, next task!. Great style, great vid as always. Keep doing what you do, it's spot on the button. Till next time.

That is a nice teepee you are building and I hope you are able to complete it and have it looking like the ones built by the Native Americans. I got to see some years ago while stationed at an airbase in North Dakota and they looked great. It is nice that you have your best buddy, Buster with you and he is watching your 6 for you to alert you of anyone approaching your area.

This is a shelter with a very wide distribution. It is still used by the tsaataan herders in Mongolia, it was, and partly is, still used among traditional groups in Sibiria.it is still used as a workplace shelter among the sami people of Scandinavia. And finally, it was the shelter of several north American tribes. Truly a winner of a shelter.

Hello to the Lovely Wood Wacker :) The Native Americans would space the diameter and slope angle of the teepee depending upon the land and location. In a wet environment a steep slope meant that water would run inside. Most opted for a 35 to 40 degree wall angle. Your selection of the Dakota Fire pit is PERFECT! When you are digging it, I would suggest that you make a Feature post about it as many do not know what that particular fire lay is. A "Keyhole pit" is a good choice with mostly similar features.
