@@JVIPER88 Slavery by your definition is innevitable. We don't have the means to be free. If you want to be free, stop breathing. We are slaves to air. We are slaves to water. We are slaves to food. No human can survive on our own. We must have assistance. One Master promises to love us. Adopt us. Heal us. Sustain us. Another master wants to lie, cheat, hurt, take advantage of, and even kill us. Those are our only 2 options. The former choice wants us to have a choice even though He is powerful enough to take our will away. The latter choice would give us no choice at all if he was granted the power from the former choice to do so, but is held back while we make our decisions. The former choice created all things from nothing. The latter choice thinks he has created lots of things by manipulating things already in existance and even persuades humans that they have creative powers as well by manipulating things already in existance. With only those 2 choices, which do you choose? I prefer the former. Our Creator. Our God. Our Saviour. Life. The one that gives us the only choice we possibly can have instead of taking it away. The only freedom available to humans. Some unfortunate people will NOT be bowing down to our Creator because they will have chosen not to, using the free will of choice that He gave us.

Punishment as you word it, is if you don't breath, you die. If you don't drink, you die. If you don't eat, you die. How is that any different at all. It is as you choose it to be because of perception, but there is no difference. You cannot have double standard justly. But this is all I will say. A dictator, and Gravity, are not similar things; no rational person would suggest as much. Air doesn't "punish" you for not breathing it. Air hasn't given you an ultimatum. Air doesn't put a gun to your head and say, "If you disobey me, you will be punished for eternity." Don't allow your biological need for survival cause you to justify slavery.

@@Ephesians-yn8ux - Hinduism has been around for 4K years. Does this make it more true than your religion? Do you reject Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva or Shakti? If so, how do you reject them? Just claiming I believe in God through the back door of of Rom 1:20, then saying I reject this is yet another (almost brilliant how they did it) ways Christianity has adopted gaslighting as it’s last defense when people are confronted with doubt. The funny thing is, I won’t have the satisfaction of being pompous when I die and get the big “I told you so…” Now if by “reject” you just mean I’m not convinced by what I’d expect a god to be in its own terms, especially given that I have many a decade on a specific one and now “dismiss as inadequate” as the first definition I looked up says, then yes, I rejected the Christian faith. But if you mean, which is often very convoluted by believes (because of scripture, I gather), that if I am not for God, than I am against him, then again, I think this is more a protection mechanism for the believe to feel isolated to confronting really hard questions. Instead, I’m just told, “you just hate god and want to sin.” I get that my rabble-rousing comes across as active rejection, but it’s unfortunately one of the only ways to actually have a conversation in these comments. When I start out curious and asking questions, usually it just goes by like the ephemeral thing that online commenting is.

In answer to the first question, god didn't only permit but he ordered certain wars to happen and was actively involved in them and made Jewish laws about them in the old testament. Jesus was alive during the Roman occupation of the Jewish people but his mission here was not to defeat the Romans with the sword. Instead he defeated wickedness and sin in human hearts with the cross. He died and rose victorious without killing a single person. He won hearts with his word. This is a far greater victory. What would Jesus have done about Nazi Germany? Nobody knows, we can only speculate. Perhaps he would have won hearts in Nazi Germany in the same way that he won hearts across the Roman empire. He and his apostles suffered greatly and rose victorious over one of the greatest empires in human history using no weapon except his living word and the power of the cross, using his gospel oh and of course the power of the holy spirit.

American bombing in Cambodia is estimated to have killed between 30,000 and 150,000 civilians and combatants. 2 million gallons of Agent Orange, some of which was contaminated with Dioxin, was sprayed by the U.S. military over more than 10% of Southern Vietnam, as part of the U.S. herbicidal warfare program, Operation Ranch Hand, during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1971. We are worse then animals. Animals tend to remain in an equilibrium that ensures the survival of the fittest, and never risks the existence of 'life' at large on a general principle. Life tends to take care of itself. Humanity, at it's best, can be like a sheparding species that ensures the survival of less lucky species, preserves them for history, learns from the unique properties maintained that way, and treats all of his environment in similar manner. Humanity, at it's current, does the polar opposite. We are responsible for the majority of instinctions in the animal kingdom, and our greed keeps us doing it 24/7. We are losing Biodiversity by the minute, and nobody cares aslong as it's printing money and the goofy old fuck in a hat in the vatican is able to do his 'amens'. So no, we are not more valuable as of this moment. That is not some nilly willy 'attribute', that we get just cause we want to, because we want to feel special. It's a standard you have to earn. For us to be better then animals, we need to behave that way. And be a net benefit on the environments we call home, and not a fucking negative.

Interesting point. I might assert as this guy is eloquently defending a view for pacifism and saying Christ wouldn't pick up a weapon and shoot someone... Would assert the point that there is Messiah Son of David, and Messiah son of Joseph. Meaning there are two forms of Messiah we will see. One suffering (Joseph -beautiful example of Christ suffering to save His family...?) While the other form of Messiah will be the conquering/ruling Messiah, i.e. time when Christ will come the next time will be first to judge sin and set up His rule. When Christ came the first time to die on the cross to shed His blood, it wasn't His time to fight (yet). Christ second coming will be completely different. Christ will come back as the Messiah the first century Jews were looking for. Consider the images/view we have of Christ in the Book of Revelation... He will slay Billions of ungodly people. Thing is though, He is God and we can be sure His judgements are true. We do well not to limit Him or impose a view of Christ as only the suffering Messiah as a human and not fully God, or in light how scripture reveals how He will be the next time He comes to earth.... No disagreement the Bible commands us all to "If at all possible live at peace with all men..." That would include the "Turn the other Cheek..." But isn't there a difference between someone seeking only to kill you, vs. being an irritant? Would assert the verse implies "to live...." at peace, hard to do if they seek only to kill you an others only?

Now let me ask you this... would that be a happy time for you as both of these boy's mother or father? One of your sons is dead. I do believe that the 2nd coming will include legions of angels glorifying the King, and I do believe that Jesus will conduct Himself with authority during this time. But not in the vengeful attitude that many may think. More like a sad parent that must punish their own child by allowing them to be hauled off to jail because the parent gave them opportunity after opportunity to quit disobeying the law but the child didn't care and committed a crime punishable by death. An unthinkable crime. Unpardonable. We will all have a sad day as we watch loved ones brought before the court. Nobody will have it anywhere near as bad as our Creator and Saviour. Father to all. @@dand4485 That one little section of the Bible gets mis-interpreted a lot, but that interpretation is not "To the law and to the testimony." and doesn't speak "according to" the rest of "this Word" it tells me there is "no light" in it. "Faith without works is dead" "Blessed are they who keep my commandments" Not on works alone, but not on faith alone either. Read 1John. Can a slave love you if being forced? They might can be trained but as soon as they could, I know I would try to escape. Love can only be mutual. If you take away free choice, you take away a true loving relationship. God is love. This whole time of refining would have just been a joke. Why then allow the self-afflicted suffering of humans? God is not that cruel. Your definition of God doesn't match the God that David writes about in Psalms. Doesn't match the Jesus that died on the cross to give us the chance to return our focus on Him. Like Peter on the water. He still had to walk on water or else he would drown. But he couldn't do it while boasting to the other desciples and losing his focus on Jesus. He started to sink. But thankfully after finally overcoming his fear, he focused once again on Jesus who had His hand stretched out to Peter. Peter had to choose to focus on Jesus AND to accept Jesus's hand that pulled him back up out of the water and into the bosom of his Savior. I understand the error in interpretation though. The real interpretation is discussing humility and who to rightfully give credit to any changes within us. "God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." If we are to be saved by grace, we must remain humble. On my own, I am bound to the flesh. With man this is impossible, but with God, ALL things are possible. I can become a changed soul only thanks to the gift of the Holy Spirit. I have changed and continue to be molded. Like the moon is to the sun. We can never fully replicate God, but we can reflect His character to the world if we follow His direction and stay focused on Him. Let your light so shine before men, that they might see your good works, and glorify the Father which is in heaven. Don't you see? Jesus broke down the commandments into two groups... 1. Love God with all your heart, with all thy might, and all thy soul. 2. Love your neighbor as thyself. By being proud and taking the credit for anything good you do, instead of giving due credit to God, you would be breaking a commandment no matter how much you are boasting to be perfect at keeping them. You have placed yourself above God. No other Gods before me. That is not loving God. Stealing His credit is not love. Jesus never had any complaints about the Pharisees keeping the commandments. He had issues with how they INTERPRETED the commandments to suit their selfish needs, and in return, was not really keeping the commandments like they boasted to be. Jesus said... "I have not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it."

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgement as to the existence of gods until sufficient credible evidence can be presented. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._* And here is the evidence I must consider when evaluating the claim by theists and as to why I currently hold to such a position. 1. I personally have never observed a god. 2. I have never encountered a person whom has claimed to have observed a god. 3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument which also employed sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that a god(s) exists. 5. Of the 46 logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the existence of a god(s), I have found all to contain multiple fallacious or unsubstantiated premises. 6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 7. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 8. I have never experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 9. Every phenomenon that I have ever observed has *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction, or do not present as falsifiable. ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the existence of a god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding any acknowledgement until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstatiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._* I welcome any cordial response. Peace.

I just commented on someone about the origins of the universe coming from "natural" causes. You may not be able to observe God directly but you still can't explain the origins of the universe naturally coming into existence. I think the point Cliff was making in the video is that it is fine for us Christians to rationalize our position is completely fine. The question is, however, can you rationalize your position on the origin of the universe. Here's the comment I posted a little bit ago about it. The premise you make in your theorem format assumes that the universe can have natural origins simply because of the natural laws it functions by. You should know that scientist still struggle with the Big Bang hypothesis as the origin of the Universe (Even the most popular scientists after decades of study in physics cannot give you a straightforward answer). Why? Because Scientists have found out that in order for a universe to originate by "natural means" as you call it, it would have to break fundamental laws of physics like the Law of Thermodynamics (e.i. Matter cannot be created or destroyed, and everything tends to digress toward entropy). In the most extreme cases scientists insinuate the existence of dark matter and dark energy that cannot be directly measured and cannot be confirmed to explain the existence of the universe (Using dark matter and dark energy to explain unpredicted gravitational pulls in a galaxy doesn't count for its existence because they still can't directly measure dark matter and energy like they can for observable matter and energy). In other words, in order for the Big Bang to "Naturally" work, it has to lean on defying fundamental laws of physics or insinuate the existence of things that cannot be proven to exist because they can't be measured, fundamentally making the Big Bang UNnatural. It only seems natural because there is an "explanation" the scientists have made, but that's just what it all is, an explanation, not truth. I can glean more into how popular scientists lean on unnatural origins of the universe like how the first stars even formed or how the planets in the solar system began. They very often sound the same in that they insinuate dark matter or energy, break the laws of gravity, and ignore basic gas laws (in making stars) in order to make their models "work." Your theorem is completely wrong because it assumes everything has natural function therefore it has a natural origins, yet the models you lean on to explain the universe's "natural" origin has unnatural implications. You would sound no different than a Christian saying the universe has natural function but cannot begin by natural causes; therefore it has to come by unnatural causes (or one supernatural cause with infinite measure) in order for the universe to begin

@@ashlynnshoolroy28 Do we have any evidence of a supernatural first cause Ashlynn?.. the origins of the universe is a highly complex question that is way beyond the comprehension of the average human being. Cliffe makes an interesting point at about 09:15 talking about the Nuremberg trials and the American counsel Robert Jackson saying " There is a law above the law, and slaughtering people is *absolutely* unjust and evil" Cliffe says Jackson was appealing to an "objective moral standard" .. yet, if you read your Bibles, there are horrific passages whereby God absolutely condones the butchery and slaughter of thousands of women and children of rival nations, eg: the Midianites, Amalekites, the Caananites. Our moral standards in the 21st century have come a long way since Biblical times. Morals are an ongoing "work in progress" .. all morals need to be taken in context of the situation, and you'll never get 100% agreement, hence why we have courts of law. Even the US supreme court judges will disagree on moral issues.

In the Bible, have you heard the term, "judgement?" How many HUNDREDS of years were each of these groups involved with greatly sinful behaviour? Still, I find it upsetting but if people think God should do something about evil...and he does (using humans to carry out the sentence) in these cases, the same people complain. The times of the Old Testament were quite violent, lawless, Godless, and sometimes, downright evil. Hyperbole is part of the text when the people are to be "completely" wiped out and then later, it is written, "Don't marry any of them" in the future. I'm not sure in what context it's acceptable to butcher little children for the "sins" of their parents? Your missing the bigger point of my initial comment, .. if morals are objective, and the source of all morality comes from the God of the Bible.. eg: he is the standard by which we must strive to reach.. why does my own personal inner moral compass tell me that his actions/commands not only fall well short of what any rational human being would regard as moral, but it's much worse than that.. his actions.. butchering women and children, then plundering their goods and setting fire to their homes, that is something akin to what the Nazi's did. It's even worse than that billy, .. if you read Numbers, Moses orders the killing of all the men, women and children, but all the virgin girls were to be kept for the soldiers..can you imagine being a young virgin girl who's just witnessed her entire family butchered in front of her, and now, she's the possession of the man who slaughtered her beloved family. The morality of Christians have advanced a lot in the 21st century but other cultures have not. If you separate yourself from Christian culture there is no evidence of the steps it took to get to the morality of this day. @@billyholly This is a very intriguing conversation billy, it's certainly not a waste of time for me. You still don't seem to comprehend what I'm trying to say. It would be fantastic if no innocent children were killed.. that would mean that people themselves ignored what the God of the Bible instructed them to do.. and they used their own sense of reason and logic to act in a more peaceful way. Have you actually read the passages I'm referring to?, particularly Numbers.. it's actually Moses instructing his army, on God's command to commit these atrocities ( we can argue the toss as to whether they actually happened.. as you yourself actually said.. they lived in far more violent times.. so it's good we can actually agree on something). Do you never question anything that goes against your own moral conscience billy? MY moral compass instinctively tells me that ordering the slaughter of women and children is immoral, i would find it very very hard to envisage a scenario in which I would consider it moral. If you think God had a good reason to order the slaughter of women and children billy, I'm all ears. They can’t ..hence Jesus cleared it all up when He said “I Am the way the truth and the light..no one comes to the Father but through Me “

@@theoskeptomai2535 meaning if your going to make a truth claim, you should have evidence to support it. And if you don't believe the evidence, what evidence are you using to support what your belief is, or what it is you are living for.

The “law above the law” example he loves to use is terrible. He’s clearly talking to younger students and or people that don’t know how to debate or even ask questions. That law above is what was used in the crusades and inquisition and witch trails. I follow Jesus, but I would destroy him in a debate

I just think it's funny people believe the stories in the bible but when you look in to some of the worlds oldest religions they share similar stories for one example the story of Horus the Egyptian god and you we'll see big similarity as the Jesus story does like they both was born on the 25 December they both was hung on a cross and both was rasien in 3 days but yet people that big in Christianity thank the bible was the only truth but all I can say read into other older religion's that came before jewdisem and Christanity if you look at the zodiac symbols the ram and the pisces symbol the fish that is the Jesus symbol and there about 2150 years before we go into each age the story of Moses take place around the age of the ram that way the Jewish still blow the ram horn to this day and that story came 2000 years before Christ story

What does the Bible say? The Fall... The wages of sin being death... Jesus being the ultimate judge? What about Ecclesiastes? A time for everything... including a time to kill...

@@jessebryant9233 The word Kill is a Vedic term and was first used in the Hindu Vedas, The term Kill {according to the Vedas} means: 1) To give no importance to. 2) To put on a shelf. 3) To make small. 4) To ignore. It does not mean to end someone's life. Are you even aware of how utterly ignorant you are.?

You all are missing the mark, not every killing is one immoral and two murder. Moral is following orders from your government for example and murder is immoral, Jesus is against murder. Yes, Jesus whipped people, much like a father whips his children for their disobedience. He would not murder because that goes against His character and is sin but when He comes back He is bringing justice with Him. Not everyone will be destroyed but those that are of a corrupt nature!

You don't have to imagine Jesus taking up arms. First, he is God and he pulls that trigger millions of times every year. Second, just read the OT, the orders he gave to the Israelites in Canaan and what he us going to do in Revelation. Jesus, God, is not a pacifist.
