Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

Күн бұрын

Program 2920 ...........................The Complexity of the Universe? - Is God Fair? - Religion - Gospel Timelines ........................................
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Mr Knechtle, I just want to thabk you. In 2008 I was obsessed with "truth" and got into Eckhart Tolle's books and Oprah and Deepak etc. I stumbled onto your video whilst ironing and christianity was always the LAST place I would've looked for Truth. Your teachings and conversations really prepared my heart to hear the gospel. A year later I repented and came to faith in Christ. I did, however, end up in a really confusing church that doesn't teach scripture in context (Hillsong) till 2015 but now and other good biblical Scripture is my highest authority while here on earth. But.... my journey began in Christ because of you.... So THANK YOU MY PRECIOUS BROTHER IN CHRIST ❤🙏❤ always wanted to thank you 😊😊😊

Scripture is not your highest authority. Proper interpretation of Scripture is essential to understand truth. Christianity is a splintered church with so many groups contradicting each other. Yet Jesus said Go ye therefore teach all nations. The Church Jesus established is the Catholic Church. It teaches clearly on so many issues- abortion, contraception, divorce and remarriage, the meaning of the Blessed Eucharist, the role of Mary, etc. I’m rejoicing you have given your heart to Jesus and l hope you find your way to the Church He founded. @@larryluch8178 in all due respect sir, please don't state your OPINION as FACT to me, that is extremely condescending. Scripture IS my highest authority. The Holy Spirit brings to memory all interpretation of scripture in context, with proper hermeneutics to memory and will lead to all Truth ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE, AS IT IS WRITTEN. I fear you are deep in deception if you are under the authority of Rome. It is a works based religion that does not lead to salvation and misinterprets scripture amd is steeped in blood of the saints and secrer occultish sins, including hiding the rape amd sodomy of children and to make it all worse, the papacy has been considered for Centuries by the protestants, the reformers and the puritans to be the anti Christ. No one on earth will EVER convince me to step one inch of my toe in that SYNAGOGUE of Satan. I mean no disrespect, but Truth is Truth. Please don't waste your breath trying to convince me otherwise, it will avail nothing but strife, as there is no doubt at all in my mind that Roman Catholicism is not true christianity. It is an abomination of Christ. More Christians have died by the hands of Roman Catholicism than Jews were killed in the holocaust. Please open your eyes. @@allyy210 Condescending! I apologize, it was unintentional. Catholics are not saved by works, Jesus is the Savior. Works are the gifts of the Holy Spirit to us to help fulfill the mandate of Jesus Go ye therefore teach all nations. From the beginning betrayers infiltrated so it’s the same now in Catholic and all communities. No true Catholic would attempt to defend sin. Catholics are baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. The faithful ones proclaim Jesus as Lord. Yet you say we’re not true Christians. I think you’re focusing too much on the Judas among us. St Francis, St Terese, Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Maximilian Kolbe we’re all Catholics and lived holy lives. Another point I would add is: If the 4 Gospels were identical there would still be an objection like, "they conspired on their stories" or, "they all copied from each other. Thus, its all made up". Its the same thing in court (I have no study or job in connection to how Law/Legal/Court works) but, from what I understand is if eyewitness tell stories that are identical you should start to to be suspicious. It's expected to be small variations, but not on the big pieces of the testimony.

Anyways if that isn’t enough for you then I don’t know what is. What was the one of the reasons Jesus died on the cross... so they he could be reach to all the world for salvation. That’s your evidence. Not to mention there wasn’t phones, video recorders, only hand written, that is why God word is everlasting because it stands the test of time. Cliff is incredibly patient. He does his part in sharing God’s truth and then let’s God take care of the rest. The point here is still to get more souls to believe in God and His awesome being rather than to debate. It is important for us believers to gain that patience like Cliff. We need to understand that these are people who have been denying the existence of God for a very long time. Satan will not let them off easily. Satan wants them to keep doubting, to keep denying and staying away from anything God-related because he, more than us; believers & unbelievers, know how true and real God is. The word of God convicts us to change. Though uncomfortable, change is necessary. The habits, the way of life and our way of thinking changes because of God. This is why most prefer to not believe because they are afraid of the change.

Very smart teaching in parables this is how Christ tried to get us to understand our world his included. I think we miss that and apply his teachings in our little worlds but he always would say "the kingdom of heaven is like unto." If u want to understand heaven look no further then ur home and seek the one they called Jesus of Nazareth. Is adam and eve our first parents or an office in gods holy order? If god created other worlds does his son atonement apply to those worlds? Do they have their own holy word where they learn about earth who was wicked enough to crucify their god? Its crazy when the possibilities if u add the fact that ressurected jesus christ would not be limited by time and space. This is no simulation u are here but the answers will come and u may be surprised what ur called to do have faith and love one another thats all we have to do right now. An athiest should look at the parable of the talents and see how they really honed in on the one but the master of the vinyard was angry cause it profots him and in turn his house nothing. Christ taught to let ur light shine and that a light hidden is goof for nothing. The expanse and more specifically this world have both a spiritual and physical creation just like everyone here. It will also help to understand that the scriptures teach that we lived before (although mainstream christianity misses this fact) u were born that u are here of ur own volition. Seek the knowledge you cannot see but u can feel. If u have to think of ur body as an antenna and the light of christ as wifi go for it, but isp service is not free just like ur worldly education everything comes at a price nothing in this world is free and christ paid the ultimate price and all of our accounts will be due one day for an accounting. gl my athiest brothers ur all very intelligent. Maybe to intelligent 😉❤ that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish. 29 But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God. Just think of what u could do if u were born again. 🎓

The problem with evolution the way the first kid sees it is this: he actually brought up the eye and it's complexity himself and the fact of the matter is the eye is not a product of evolution because if one part of the eye is changed, it ceases to work so in other words the eye we have today has always been the eye that existed. it is an enormously complex design that has been this way since the beginning of time.

I wonder if Cliff really believes his statement about the creation of the universe starting 15 billion years ago. I think it's more likely (according to the Bible) that God created the universe and the world less than 10,000 years ago. I could see how this might be a method of his to relate to the science "worshipers" in the group by explaining that while, 15 billion years is along time, it's still a finite time compared to an eternal God creating time-space-matter.

Such a non-question. What came before the Big Bang? First that assumes that our concept of uni-directional (not to mention linear or non-reciprocating) time is a valid. This may not be true. Second assumption is that there is a "cause" for each "thing" we perceive. We arrogantly project our perspectives onto the universe as a whole. But that is not even the problem here. The problem is that we don't know what we cannot test. You cannot even formulate a testable hypothesis about pre-Big Bang events (assuming that the notion of "events" is relevant to a before Big Bang moment). For all we know time folds back on itself and there is no time before the Big Bang. We might as well go back to the "how many angels fit on the head of a pin?" question. The only thing demonstrated in this discussion is that cognitive bias blinds the clarity that comes from free and non-dogmatic thinking.

Cliff, you have a great relationship with some of the word of God, there is much power and wisdom in it. There is more of a relationship that we can have if we open up to it and see more of the truth as we seek it. God the Father has a body and Jesus Christ has a body, the Son is the express image of the Father, their bodies in this universe are not eternal but the spirit of God is. If we are to dwell in eternity with God we must be or become eternal ourselves, and so our spirits are from the Father of all spirits. There are many scriptures on this subject but the one that is the most comprehensive from the Bible is Hebrews 1: “2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”

There seems to be a lot of confusion around what Einstein believed concerning god. Some of his quotes give small hints that he was a theist. Others give hints that he wasn't. Others hint that he was a pantheist. Here is one of his quotes: “The most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead… To sense that behind anything that can be experienced there is something that our minds cannot grasp, whose beauty and sublimity reaches us only indirectly: this is religiousness. In this sense, and in this sense only, I am a devoutly religious man.”

If god always acts in accordance with his nature (whatever that means), then he still must have more than one viable option that does not contradict his nature if he is to ''claim free will.'' Otherwise, he is a slave to his nature, like a robot, and not a free personal agent. What would the word "option" mean to a being who created all options? Some say that "free will" with god does not mean what it means with humans. But how are we to understand this? What conditions of free will would a christian scrap in order to craft a "free agency" for god? Multiple options? Desire? Freedom? Power? Potential to avoid? Perhaps desire could be jettisoned. Desire implies a lack, and a perfect being should lack nothing. But it would be a very strange "person" with no needs or desires. Desire is what prompts a choice in the first place. It also contributes to assessing whether the decision was reasonable. Without desire, choices are willy-nilly, and not true decisions at all. Besides, ''the biblical god expressed many desires.'' Basically this supposed god is RELYING on his ''faulty creations'' (the fall of adam & eve) to go around and CONVINCE each other that he exists, that's preposterous.!!! No objection saves the christian god, he does not exist. Perhaps a more modest deity can be imagined: one that is not both personal and all-knowing, both all-knowing and all-powerful, both perfect and free. But until a god is defined coherently, and then proven to exist with evidence and sound reasoning, it is sensible not to think that such a being exists. This guy is JUST expressing his own personal views, having said that, it DOES NOT mean he is right, at the END OF THE DAY, it's only his OPINION.!!!

I think the young man wants to say, “for the sake of argument” , if there was no eyewitness testimony as such , what other object reasons does he have for believing In Christ ? His other related point is, he wants to eyewitness accounts “off limits “ for the discussion , because what do we make of the flaws in accepting eyewitness accounts written many years after the facts occurred? Cliff is usually head on but here I felt he was dodging what the kid was getting at. he wants to know what other “evidences” there are. Fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy might be one of them. Of course I love cliffs distinction between evidence and proof (and faith and knowledge), And really if there were proof what would the beauty and purpose of this faith. CS Lewis articulates faith and faithfulness beautifully as well, with a different wrinkle

John Walton wrote in his book 'The Lost World of Genesis 1' "...people in the ancient world believed that something existed not by virtue of its material properties, but by virtue of it having a function in the ordered system... In this sort of functional ontology, the sun does not exist by virtue of its material properties, or even by its function as a burning ball of gas. Rather, it exists by virtue of the role that it has in its sphere of existence, particularly in the way that it functions for humankind and human society." That's exactly what Genesis 1 is about. The one guy tries to discredit the gospels because they are so, yet any other, and I do mean ANY other historical figure is always rtecognized based on someone else's testimony. Even the young man himself cannot prove that he is who he claims to be without outside testimony or documentation, the ultimate being his birth certificate. Where his mother claims him to be her son born on such and such a date and time, at such and such a location, with so and so being his father and witnessed by the appropriate authorities. It is with that testimony that he can claim his individuality.

@@leeman3517 If you open up the Qur’an to Sura 5 titled “The Gospel of Jesus: Guidance and Light,” you will read the following:* [5:46] And in their footsteps We sent Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and conformation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah. [5:47] Let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah has revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel. [Emphasis mine.] First, take note that the Qur’an actually says that Allah is responsible for sending Jesus and the “the Gospel,” referring to what we call the New Testament. Each was given to confirm “the Law,” referring to the Old Testament. In describing “the Gospel” we are told that it contains “guidance and light.” From just this verse, I think we are meant to conclude that God has multiple revelations and that these revelations can be used to confirm each other. For example, the New Testament confirms the Old Testament. Second, in the very next sentence the Qur’an affirms that “The People of the Gospel,” referring specifically to Christians, should “judge by what Allah has revealed therein.” That is to say, Christians should judge by what’s in “the Gospel.” Here the author, Mohammed, is inviting Christians to judge his words by the New Testament. He believes that “the Gospel” and his words, the Qur’an, are in agreement. This makes perfect sense in light of the verse we just looked at. In essence, Mohammed is saying that just as the Gospel confirms the Law, which came before it, the Gospel will confirm the Qur’an, which is coming after it. There is a problem here that Christians and Muslims both recognize: The New Testament conflicts with the Qur’an on a number of central doctrines. The Christian, who takes Mohammed at his word and judges the Qur’an by the New Testament, is forced to conclude that Mohammed got it wrong. What does the Muslim say to this? The Muslim’s answer is quite simple. The Qur’an is God’s infallible, uncorrupted word; therefore, “the Gospel” must have been corrupted. Here’s the unstated presupposition: If the New Testament differs with the Qur’an, then it’s the New Testament that must have it wrong. However, when the words of the Qur’an were being written down, Mohammed was communicating that the New Testament and the Old Testament are reliable. In his words, they are “sent” from Allah, they “confirm” each other and contain “guidance and light.” So up until that time in history, “the Gospel” and “the Law” that Mohammed was working from were not corrupted. If they were already corrupted, then his words don’t make any sense. He wouldn’t ask Christians to judge anything by a corrupted book. This leads us to conclude that the corruption must have taken place after the Qur’an was written (620-632 AD). Here’s the problem, and it’s a big one. The manuscript evidence we have gathered from after the Qur’an was written completely agrees with the manuscript evidence we have from before the Qur’an was written. That is to say, the New Testament around at the time of Mohammed is identical to the text we have today. It’s the same text. Even Bart Ehrman, who estimates that there are around 400,000 variants of the New Testament text, affirms that we essentially know what the originals contained. Therefore, whatever was true about the New Testament at the time Mohammed wrote the Qur’an is still true of the New Testament today. Therefore, if the Qur’an is true, then what Mohammed said about the New Testament is also true. Mohammed instructs Christians to judge the Qur’an by what is in the New Testament. Ironically, if you do this you find that the Qur’an hopelessly contradicts what “Allah has revealed” in the New Testament. For example, the New Testament teaches that Jesus died on a cross for the sins of the world and then rose from the dead three days later. Conversely, the Qur’an says that Jesus was never even crucified on a cross and, thus, had no need for a resurrection from the dead. The Christian is forced to conclude that the Qur’an is in error. Therefore, by the Qur’an’s own standard, if the Qur’an is true, then the Qur’an is false.

Universe by definition is the set of all that exists. That of course includes God. Therefore if something is outside the universe it does not exist. There can be no other universes but there can possibly be other extant parallel dimensions contained within the set of all that exists. For something to exist does not mean it must be accessible or detectable. Heb:11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Heb 11:5 5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. When you look at the 11th chapter of Hebrews it appears that faith is the key that opens doors to alternate dimensions that those who lack it cannot enter unless of course grace & mercy takes up the slack of weak or poorly defined faith that stumbles in the dark. The ones who believed were world changers. They entered doors that no one ever knew existed and often preserved the world of their time. Faith enters doors and gains access to dimensions that others who lack it or its definition cannot enter. It can move through wormholes and stargates and take at least a few others through them with it. It basically can change the universe.

The point of the argument is it is not probable given the time span of the universe to have occurred anywhere near one time. Given all of the things that need to be exactly how they are in the universe to support and sustain life (or matter even...) its like well over 10^1000, so like I said, the chances of that happening randomly is so low its "improbable." Not in 15 billion years, not in 15^500 years. Not even close. For gravity alone to be as perfect as it is to support stars and planets, its 10^40 (10 followed by 40 zeros) even that is way beyond 15 billion years!!

It's a common misconception. Mutations are random by definition but natural selection and sexual selection are non-random. Organisms adapting to a changing environment isn't random either. You could argue that it involves an element of chance, because it isn't guided by anything other than the environment and genetic change in populations of animals. But it's not strictly a random chance process because it's based on the way advantageous traits are more likely to be selected for and passed on to offspring if they provide the opportunity for those organisms to thrive. You can't observe eyeballs popping into existence in a single moment in time, simply because that's not how it works. Evolution at every level is just small incremental changes piled atop one another. You can look back through history to find the species with the most rudimentary eyesight, eyes that barely function at all apart from being able to detect changes in light, and then gradually throughout time you had other organisms with more improved vision. Including changes to the layout of the eyes from the sides of the head to eyes forward facing with binocular vision. You can even pinpoint the moment when the earliest primates gained the ability to see in full colour. A mutation in OPN1MW produced OPN1LW, the protein essential for colour vision. As far as being able to observe evolution is concerned you actually can do that. New species have evolved in your own lifetime. But it doesn't involve huge changes in a single step like a lot of people seem to believe. It's just small incremental changes piled atop one another. Every new genus or species is just a slightly modified version of the species before it. It doesn't involve one species producing a completely different kind of organism in a single macroevolution event.
@boltrooktwo
@boltrooktwo 3 жыл бұрын
@@chimpanzeethat3802 How can an organism that has rudimentary eyesight decide to grow the next step to improve it and how could it possibly know how that is accomplished? The difference between the eyes of different kinds of animals is way way more complex than the best intelligence we have can engineer. A change couldn’t be selected for one step. There are so many structures in life that are irreducibly complex that evolution is refuted thousands of times over. It can’t evolve one step randomly and then be selected for reproduction for a change that doesn’t work yet. A single living cell is like a self-replicating nano-factory that has more information than millions of pages of text that has to be in precise order to direct cell function. What is your best evidence against irreducible complexity?
