Yes Jamel, that was indeed a room full of country legends. Thomas (who I commented in your previous video had just passed away last month) sitting on the other side of Chet near Crystal. And the man hosting the show is Ralph Emery. (He was a popular Nashville country music host for many years). He's the one that said, "That's feels good" at the end. "Gentle On My Mind" written by: John Hartford LYRICS: It's knowing that your door is always open And your path is free to walk That makes me tend to leave my sleeping bag Rolled up and stashed behind your couch And it's knowing I'm not shackled By forgotten words and bonds And the ink stains that are dried upon some line That keeps you in the backroads By the rivers of my memory That keeps you ever gentle on my mind It's not clinging to the rocks and ivy Planted on their columns now that bind me Or something that somebody said Because they thought we fit together walking It's just knowing that the world will not be cursing Or forgiving when I walk along some railroad track and find That you're moving on the backroads By the rivers of my memory And for hours you're just gentle on my mind Though the wheat fields and the clothes lines And the junkyards and the highways come between us And some other woman's cryin' to her mother 'Cause she turned and I was gone I still might run in silence tears of joy might stain my face And the summer sun might burn me 'til I'm blind But not to where I cannot see You walkin' on the backroads By the rivers flowing gentle on my mind I dip my cup of soup back from a gurglin' Cracklin' caldron in some train yard My beard a roughening coal pile, And a dirty hat pulled low across my face Through cupped hands 'round the tin can I pretend to hold you to my breast and find That you're waiting from the backroads By the rivers of my memories Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind

"Grand Ole Opry." It's the most Historic place in "Country Western" music. If you look closely, you'll see a "whos who" of the country music world. this was a while back, and most of them are gone now. Many legends in that group. Just having a little jam session with friends. Nothing formal. This sort of thing is common in country music. This is what they do in real life after a big Sunday dinner. Go out to the porch, and bring your guitar, fiddle, Harmonica, and your singing voice, and we'll play a few tunes, to help our food digest. This is what average folk do in the south, not just the stars. Your raised this way. Sing some Gospel songs to Jesus and relax. I think it's wonderful and wholesome. We need more time together like that.

You can say it's sort of like when a group of old time Gospel singers get together, and have revival singing sessions. Every person sitting in that group--young and old, were stars in their own right. 🤗 Glen showcased his skills and I was blown away. 😲🤗 If you get a chance, listen to the words of that beautiful song. I'll tell you when it was over, I felt like I had taken a journey back to that place.

@Jamel_AKA_Jamal I have to tell this important thing. There is a huge fire burning just a few miles away (I live outside of Tahoe) and for 3 days we have been inhaling smoke, we all smell like a campfire, praying for friends who have evacuated, worried about the displaced wildlife, loss of life, and worrying about the fire fighters, etc. Last night my husband and I decided to turn off the news & the scanner. And we watched a bunch of your videos! We thoroughly enjoyed watching you while we listened to music we grew up on (60’s & 70’s). Thank you so so much for giving us an escape❣️ You dear are that kind human on your shirt....yeah!🥰🥰🥰

And the just recently passed B.J. Thomas, who sang with Glen, was in that incredible audience as well. Glen Campbell at his absolute best - and, as a poster noted below, he's sung some of the greatest songs in music history. And, as displayed here, he was one of THE great guitarists. He played with The Wrecking Crew on many of the classics of the '60's. He was also, for a short time, a Beach Boy.

My mom adored Glen Campbell, which is how I managed to see him play in Reno in 1984. He was a genuine guitar monster and at that show played the William Tell Overture with his guitar behind his head.

@theprophet94293 жыл бұрын
Was it written for Campbell, though? So Hartford's version is actually a cover? Of his own song? :D
@samzilla12813 жыл бұрын
Considering that Glen learned about the song when he heard John's original version on the radio, I'm gonna say nope. Glen and John became good friends and performed the song together many times. Essentially this one song gave John Hartford the money to pursue his own muse wherever it led.
@theprophet94293 жыл бұрын
@@samzilla1281 Yes, I've just researched it. Hartford recorded it first but it was Campbell who made it a hit. I imagine this song more than paid it's way, considering how many covers there are - Dean Martin's is probably the best of those, for me. EDIT: momentarily forgot the Campbell's is actually a cover, therefore, Martin's would be the second-best cover. This got confusing.
@Bryan.Conley3 жыл бұрын
@@theprophet9429 but now you get it! Also, Hartford’s catalog is well worth looking into. Look up the song “In Tall Buildings”, as it was another popular of its time and spoke to the time. Hamilton Ironworks is my favorite album of his. It’s all instrumental fiddle tunes with the band playing the song through multiple times, however at some point John comes in singing, kinds in the melody of the song, the history of the song and where he learned it. As a bluegrass and oldtime musician myself I find this not only to be great music, but important piece of history due to the stories he tells. He met all the legends.
