I went to Vanuatu on a teaching tour many years ago. its great to see your videos and see how much it has changed but still the same. Tourists dont really get to see the 'real' Vanuatu. I absolutely loved my time there.

Thanks for showing Blue Lagoon, I was actually lucky enough to go on a family cruise from New Zealand where we visited Port Villa. I woke up late and missed the chance to go over to Blue Lagoon so was good to see in the video. I went to the market shown at the end and I was saddened by the amount of Chinese crap they have for sale, I did manage to find someone selling locally made kava chocolate which I bought and enjoyed hehe.

I went when I was 23 in 2013 or so and it was the first time I have seen coconut oil. I bought it and it was amazing. Then it was everywhere the next year in Australia

Just finished viewing your stay in my old home Sydney. Pity you did not venture out to the real Vanuatu: Tanna Island where there is a live volcano, and much much more.

Unfortunately that was the plan at first but the airlines let us down at the time and went bankrupt and lost a lot of money so we got stuck on port villa and couldn’t do anything 😂😂

Thanks for sharing your adventure. We appreciate your friendly open-ness but we'd really like to see an effort to learn and understand local history and culture, and account for your impact as you interact with locals. This a small island country dealing with the aftermath of colonization and slavery as it tries to find balance in the face of large scale tourism (which can fracture traditional communities and cultures), and the accentuated classism and external corruption from such tourism. Though your intent is friendly, you approached people in accented English, with your camera, asking them personal questions before revealing anything about yourself or why you have a camera pointed at them. Approaching native folks in your own language communicates that YOUR language and customs are the standard norm and therefore THEY have to do the work of trying to understand and accommodate YOU in THEIR homeland. Also we don't see you asking permission to speak with them OR film them, or making effort to learn basic greetings and respect boundaries. There is a legacy of what white foreigners have done to these people and people in similar communities, and that echoes into generations - power imbalances, historic trauma, feelings of unease, and more. Please, especially traveling as a white person to colonized countries, take time to pause, learn about cultural norms, be gentle and kind, learn what is considered respectful to the communities in which you are a visitor, and model this for your viewers and subscribers. If nothing else, introduce yourself and your country of origin. and why you are filming, ask permission to film before you turn your camera asking people's names and where they live. These folks did not look comfortable. Check out other vids where locals are smiling and interacting when they feel safe even with cameras. Notice the difference, hopefully you can take this to heart. Thank you for reading and considering this. All the best to you and yours.

Was waiting for this comment. 100% agree. Some of this was cringe to watch. Please be a little more considerate. At least learn to say hi in the local language and ask for permission to film.
