@@528Circle At some point, one would think he would wake up to the fact of the threat Trump poses to the "establishment"...or learn the meaning of the word "democracy" or learn the history of why we aren't one, or something to indicate he isn't living in a bubble of his own creation. His biggest concern "if she wins" seems to be that the racial component will be used to avoid "criticisms" of what might occur...having no clue how close we are to'"absolute tyranny" or the fact that we have been on this path since Woodrow Wilson or that FDR killed the 'constitution," and the only thing that remains of it are vague references when they seem "convenient." At least Glenn raised the point of "Oprah and the Obama's" masquerading as an "oppressed" class...even though it was a rather minimal take. It also doesn't match up with his appreciation of Thomas Sowell's work, so much so that one wonders if he has any actual knowledge of it. I recently found the grace to listen to the blunt-force, plain, repetitive, and simple bullet point “stream of consciousness” speaking style Trump uses. It’s mystifying how few words he uses to make a point. Should a public speaker shoot for somewhere between the Obamas and Trump? Are these opposite sides of the same coin? Am I strange for considering Trump to be a neurodivergent thinker who is misunderstood. I recently became a Naturalized Citizen of the US, so I’m scrutinizing the candidates more than I would have in the past. I fear I may have judged him unfairly.
@holliewitt581618 күн бұрын
I am a Trump supporter, and I have to agree with the neurodivergent statement. Trump tends to make harsh statements that can and most times dose insult most, but he is trying to explain his words a little more this time. Sometimes he forgets that not everyone thinks like him, and dose not explain what he is trying to say. Some people over critique his words into their own thoughts on what he is saying. Example: “Black Jobs” statement at the Black Journalist Convention. My son is also neurodivergent and understood it completely differently than I did. My son said that immigrants are moved to areas of our country that has a majority of Black Americans. Immigrants are not unskilled or uneducated on the wide range of opportunities that they will capitalize on here in America, and do it for less. My so also said that it is stupid to think that people coming into our country are incapable or have no education, and that by people being offended by what Trump said is actually more racist, because they are saying that immigrants are beneath them and could never possibly have or take their jobs.. This statement blew my mind!!! My son is right… That is exactly how racists see the world, as more superior than another race. By saying this was a racist statement, makes you a racist. Crazy right?

@@rufusconnolly8489 I can vividly remember the first moment I was exposed to "identity politics" at a Columbia economics seminar a professor had invited me to as a guest (the lead actor from a very well-regarded indie film was there and since I was involved in media I was also invited). This took place in the early 2000s. I thought we were going to talk about the film and its relationship to economics, or the film business, but for some reason everyone in the class introduced themselves one by one and spent a minute or two establishing their personal identity, in terms of sexual orientation, race, gender, ethnicity, and place of origin. I didn't understand what was going on because half of our time with this actor was taken up by this centering of identity before we could get to anything of substance. The whole exercise seemed completely ridiculous and pointless and I was wondering what I was going to say when they finally got to me. To all appearances I'm a straight, white, male, but my identity by "woke" standards is very complicated and would surprise everyone in the room if I were to go into detail. I realized it would take too long to explain it all, so when they got to me I said "I don't think our identity is important compared to other qualities and I personally don't have an identity. I'm more interested in ideas." I'll never forget the look of shock on the (female) professor's face. It was as if I had uttered the most profane heresy possible. She probably thought I was just a "privileged white male" who lacked any sensitivity or respect for other races, cultures, and "lived experiences" that differed from my own, but she would have been dead wrong. That professor never spoke to me again and side-eyed me whenever we passed each other in the halls for years afterward. That was my very first exposure to what we now called "identity politics," where gender and skin color are more important than what you have to say or what you can do with your talents, and not only was I completely allergic to it, I stood up to it as best I could in that moment, and I was cancelled by that one professor as a result.
